Posts: 12856Flooding in the North and NE of Thailand
Tropical Cyclones Podun and Katiji followed in quick succession last few days and caused significant flooding of low lying farm lands, and river overflows. Roads damaged in several provinces.
Sukothai in the north, through to Nakhorn Panom in the East (home of many Tulip girls), through to Ubon in the NE.
Tulip girls best be working in Bangkok, rather than having water problems back on the farm.
I have had to wade through flood waters myself, fortunately below crotch level. Floods went down almost a foot today, where I passed, but waters could be coming from more northern provinces in following days. The flood gates get opened as they say.
Now a big cyclone LingLing heads towards Korea.
Thailand rains should be more moderate the next few days.

'Refugees' of Trump's trade war are scrambling to move business to Vietnam and Thailand as China tariffs hit hard
https://www.businessinsider.com/r-su...ailand-2018-11
-Companies are moving supply networks and production from China to other Far East nations as a direct result of President Trump's trade war.
-Industry experts say the movement is the biggest shift in cross-border supply chains since China joined the World Trade Organisation in 2001.
-The scramble is driven by the risk of more, and higher, U.S. tariffs on China, and fears that nearby emerging economies can only accommodate new businesses on a "first come, first served" basis.
...In Thailand, SVI Pcl , which provides electronics and manufacturing solutions, said it has just selected four new deals worth about $100 million with existing customers who have operations in China.
"The trade war is good for us," CEO Pongsak Lothongkam said. "We have been approached by so many companies that we have to prioritize."
If Trump "wins" his trade war with China this way, I don't know of a scenario where a dozen more mega factories popping up in Isaan increases the number of hot, young Thai girls coming to Bangkok or Pattaya to work in go-go bars, massage shops, soapies, in a club, on the street or to share a lower Sukhumvit area room with 2 others and work the dating site FL scene.
Even if the factories hire their dads, brothers, boyfriends or husbands and not them, the girls will have a very good reason not to move away from their families or babies to make a living the old fashioned way most of us visit or live in Thailand to patronize.
This is more of a "Thai P4P" topic than some of you guys realize. It might be the most important P4P-related topic on any Thai thread. It certainly qualifies as local Thai politics and business as it affects the P4P scene.
Where did you guys think those factories would go when they left China? Nebraska, Australia, U.K., Germany, France, Norway? Nope.

OK, do the debates matter? Its complicated but I feel they do. Question is to what extent. Agreed Trump lost the debates on nationwide polling but don't forget he also lost the popular vote by 3 million. But where it mattered in states such as Florida Pennsylvania Michigan and Ohio where he won by small margins I feel that what he represented during the debates and his overarching message of demonizing immigrants got him elected. On a historical note it is now commonly accepted Nixon lost to Kennedy because of the sweating 5 o'clock shadow visual he portrayed on TV.
Your other point on Trump's trade war affecting the P4P scene in Thailand, that's a stretch ET.

But to follow up on your post, I personally think that any political discussions should be banned. It's just an excuse for some Euros to bash the US anyway.

BTW, some of you Thai punters might start caring and paying attention to these things. Not only does Trump's trade war and "horse in a hospital" approach to global economics threaten many more countries than just the USA, several manufacturers are looking at Thailand as an alternative location for their factories should the Trumped up situation with China become too complicated. And if you don't think that will negatively effect the lifespan of go-go bars and brothels as we have known them for the past several decades, then you don't know how some of these international conglomerates like to perform their "civic responsibility" to close down as many of those as possible in order to give young girls fewer options than to work in their sweatshops 16 hours a day, 7 days a week.

More divisive American political claptrap in the Thai Lounge that has nothing to do with Thailand or girls. Why does the ISG allow this? After being a member since 2008, I am strongly considering dropping this web site. All I read here is negative shit about Thailand being too expensive from guys who can't afford it anymore, bull shit about Thai girls (PI girls too) not being any good anymore, and the political hate Trump crap. I used to enjoy reading this web site in the morning knowing it would have interesting and informative posts. Obviously the ISG is not what it used to be ie an informative web site dedicated to the world wide pursuit of girls. Nowadays I rarely find anything worth reading here. And that really is too bad.
P.S. I know I am not the only one who feels this way.

One thing I am in no doubt of he is still running Trump Incorporated as dumb and dumber couldn't organize an orgy in Nana.
It's almost impossible to imagine Americans would want 4 more years of a narcissistic deranged demigod but the odds on him being reelected are actually 50/50.
This is mostly down I believe to the continuation of the good economy he inherited and his heightening fear and loathing of immigrants and minorities among most of his base (Smoothy being an exception) that gives them an excuse for their sad unhappy lives. .
It's also a reflection of the lack of a Democrat who broad popular appeal.
Joe will get eaten alive in the debates and Warren will be handicapped by the cost of her Medicare for all. Bernie is a one trick millionaires and billionaires pony and Harris doesn't seem to be able to gain traction after her lackluster performance during the last debate.
November 3rd '20 will be a defining moment in showing the world what the US stands for.

Connecting the dots here isn't exactly rocket science. Well, maybe it is to Trump supporters.
The challenge Trump faces every day is what kind of counterproductive legislation proposal, idiotic trade war move, ignorant tariff assertion or whimsical silly statement can he make this hour of this day that could drive down the USA economy, cause Powell to lower the Fed Funds Rate and thereby save him millions of dollars on those huge loans of he took out a few years back.
How his doing that might effect his chances of re-election is somewhat irrelevant. He has never been interested in expanding his support beyond his base and his base is not going anywhere. They have apparently begun to love out of control skyrocketing deficits and taken a genuine liking to underperformance vs Obama on virtually every important economic and policy metric they used to enjoy slamming Obama over; jobs creation, stock market gains, housing value gains, manufacturing sector expansion, trade and corporate profits, border control, foreign relations, national security, etc.

Check out the new book, "Koch Land" by Christopher Leonard. Koch's are not fans of Fat Nixon, mostly on ideological grounds. Still, they are getting over 90% of their economic just desserts.

B-B-But if China is the one paying the tariff taxes instead of American consumers, wouldn't it be a wonderful Christmas gift FOR Americans to initiate those tariffs ASAP? Hey, I'd be happy with another $60 Billion added to America's coffers by China. Why not? Unless, oh no, it turns out that isn't how it would get there after all.
Either he hasn't got a clue what he is talking about or he is certain his supporters would never have a clue what he is talking about. Or both.

Over 15 trillion in negative yielding bonds, an inverted yield curve and record low thirty years. It has to signify something.
Even Trump is getting the wind up and backing down on the scale of tariffs on Chinese imports under the laughable guise of not wanting to be the grinch that spoiled Christmas.
What's all this got to with the price of a shag? Nothing I guess but who knows.
My gut tells me while those at the high end are still doing fine it's getting tougher for most girls to make a living.
A recent visit to Cowboy makes me feel business is way down.
As we know the normal supply and demand principle affecting price doesn't necessarily follow in Thailand's P4P.
Quite the opposite.
Fewer punters, no problem, increase margins by jacking up the prices.
Well maybe not going to work this time.
