I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1990's. Market Street Cinema was a legendary place (strip show, lap dances, wall dances and more behind the stage). Also there were famous Asian massage salons offering everything. Everything was closed. I don't want to presume anything about the girl, but I have plenty of family in Mexico, and the boyfriends were never expected to help the girlfriends family financially when things got bad. They are expected to provide for her once your marry her, and possibly help the family, but you're not there.

I will say this, her family might not actually put 2-and-2 together about her work, because it's the idealized dream of every Mexican mother that her daughter finds herself a rich guy to look after her daughter, and that might be the line she feeds when about why she goes to work at the border, in hopes of finding a solid middle-to-upper-class Norteo. Her family might intentionally have blinders on.

Some Mexican families do put pressure on their Children to help them with money, even if they're grown ass adults not living at home, and if she's been lying about where the money comes from, she may have worked herself into a bind. I have a buddy who's mom just paid $60 k cash for a piece of land in a gated Colonia, and when I asked him where the hell she (who doesn't work) got that kind of money, he said it was from her savings of the money each of the grown kids give her each month. Family financial situations that come up are expected to be solved, whenever possible within the family- like they all pull together to figure it out. That's the cultural part. Hitting up the boyfriends for money is outside of that, unless you've made her think you've got plenty of disposable cash, and are willing to help her out with whatever she needs.

Sorry to hear the last night was rough, but the "I need to send money back home and I'm short, can you help me out?" conversations are probably not going to stop.

Very well said. Only serious low-life moochers will hit up a girl's "rich" boyfriend / husband for money. In the roughly 10 years I've known my main squeeze I've only been asked to contribute twice, as far as I can remember. Once was to chip in to help buy some medical supplies for mom, who had just had a hip replacement. A toilet seat extension, a walker, etc. And once, some cousin apparently pissed of some local narco and the cousin disappeared. They found his body several days later and I contributed a few bux to help bury the poor kid. I had a Thai "sister" for a number of years. She explained a lot about "normal" Thai families. (I find Thai culture has many parallels to Mexican culture) Families take care of financial emergencies within themselves. It would have to be something extremely dire, life and death, for them to ask a daughter's BF for money. My long-time Thai ex-GF said similar. If Somchai came sniffing around for money, she *might* consent to lend him a few baht with the proviso he pay it back. Should he not, there would not be another baht forthcoming. In other words, ClownDays is right. A "decent" family will not treat a daughter's BF as some sort of walking ATF. If that were to happen, the thing to do is to head for the nearest exit.

Not only is prostitution illegal in San Francisco but the police actually set up stings to lure men and arrest them. I know of close friends who got nabbed by this.

Some men should have the balls to sue prostitution laws as unconstitutional. Elliott Spitzer should do it.

Less damage to your wallet and never have to deal with family emergency requests. I'm amazed at how bad the bar girls budgeting skills are compared to my ex and her family that were middle / upper class Mexicans. The bar girls think of future money to pay back current debts. One said she is getting approved for a credit card and I just died inside as I think they see Americans just swiping, but no idea the bill comes due with high interest if not paid off every month.

We have a moral hangup about prostitution and this why it is illegal. People don't like seeing girls out on streets. So many girls dress so scantily in bikni's or lingerie & standing in the middle of the streets only riles up the locals. It is only within the past 5 or 6 years that the girls started dressing like this. I can understand people that live in the neighborhoods get irritated when they act like this. My own belief is that eros centers like they have in Germany is the best solution. They are discreet & guys can still have fun at a reasonable price. The Eros centers have largely eliminated the pimps as well. As for Texas it is ridiculous that they have made prostitution a felony. Let's remember that a felony is defined as penalty that carries a sentence of 1 year or more. I seriously doubt prostitution will be legalized in the CA however.

Exactly what I'm scared of even before the Sex Felony Law. Sometimes I get questions from family or some friends why I'm still single but only protecting myself women have so many rights and men almost always wrong in USA.
