Obrigado is an example where locals often say "brigada' or "brigado" without enunciating the O. Gringos enunciate the initial O more than locals. Same thing with "imagina", many locals pronounce it like "magina". And of course there is the erosion of the entire set of conjugations of "estou", "esta" being shortened to "to" and "ta". That is your fake news for today.

By all means check out a boate or two but go on a good day. I cannot stress this enough. Tue-Thursday are the days for the high $ boates. Sure they may be OK on other days, but if you want to see what the fuss is about, you need to see them during the peak days. There may be as many girls the other days but with less guys the vibe is different. Its not really a better buyers market when there are less guys because most of the boate girls do not adjust their pricing to reflect the demand. Most are too proud to lower their price too much and would rather go home than go too low. There is something electric when the place is full and all the women are angling.

The boates are never ever going to be a good deal price wise compared to clinicas or even free lancers, so don't even think about that. A 2-hand massage was 220 R and a 4 hand massage was 320 R. There was a 20 R up charge for the use of a credit card. I always call the bank and tell them I'm going to Brazil. Years ago my credit union refused to grant me access in Brazil! Today it is no problem but be sure to call your bank and CC company to make sure. I have friends that pick me up at the airport and they go to clinica with me or drop me off or I take a cab over. They just hand me a wad of Reis and I square up with them later. They typically desire the US currency for future vacations so this works.

Personally, I can attest to one thing. The Brazllian ladies have a wonderful attitude toward sex and sexuality. Sex in Brazil is viewed as a natural appetite, something to be indulged and enjoyed without shame or ulterior motives. Sex is not some "reward" or "weapon" that women wield over men, as in some cultures, something to be withheld or granted. Brasileiras are refreshingly brazen about their own sexual desires and appetites. As for looks, yeah, the Brazlian bunda is pretty incredible. The racial mixing has resulted in a kaleidoscope of body and facial types. But tastes are personal, you just have to come and decide for yourself.

Colombia is easier to access from many points in the US, due to flight times, connections and it is not expensive for the flight or the costs on the ground. Its a great place for low-budget mongering with pretty Latinas. I think Brazil has more obstacles to travel, mainly paying for a visa, more expensive and longer flights, and what would appear to be higher costs on the ground than in Colombia. I would expect that is factor in the number of Americans raving about Colombia.

And then there is always "group speak" to watch out for. You might recall an older website from back in the 90's that had a similar name and format as this one. At that time, the limited numbers of posters were raving about Colombia being better than Brazil. Some of these professed to have experience in Brazil but complained it had gotten too expensive and that tourists had ruined the mongering. They raved about the beauty and service of the Colombianas like Brazil was just trash. I was surprised to read this, as Brazil had a great reputation for prostitution and I imagined Colombia being a terrible, dangerous place (this was over 20 years ago) that no sane person would visit. But, this was pure "group speak" in hindsight. My perspective on Colombia was also jaded by the ignorance of the media. Nowadays, the opinions on this site seem to be the opposite of what I described. But as you said, in the end we all have to make the visit and form our own opinion on our own experiences.

One thing I noticed about Brazilians is their extroverted, uninhibited nature and tendency to act out vocally. In Colombia, I noticed the locals are respectable, subdued types who seem to be self-conscious, in comparison. A week ago, I was in Bogota on top of Monserratte, a tourist attraction on top of a mountain overlooking Bogota, serviced by a funicular rail train. I'm boarding the funicular rail car for my descent and a group of Brazilian tourists board the train as well, talking loudly and generally giving me a good lesson in the language. I'm trying to learn Brazilian Portuguese by watching videos and I'm understanding much of what they are saying. It is taking longer for the descent to begin than they care for. But when the car starts to move, they cheer loudly, a few start to chant out something with their fists pumping the air. The rest of the Latino occupants of the train stare at them with silent appall. I suppose that says a lot about the differences in their culture and demeanor. I've noticed this tendency in Brazilians I've met in the past (individually and in groups), uninhibited and often quite friendly, though often saying what they are thinking even when it would be a good time to shut up. But, I guess that makes for great sex and Brazil seems like a place where you can meet people and make friends quite easily?

Very well said about the Brazillian attitudes with sex being just a natural part of life. I have spent considerable time in Medellin and Bogota and also visited Rio twice but that was 18 years ago, so The Mall Man needs to take a trip to San Paulo and see what all the talk is about.

I've been hangin in both Colombia and Brazil for almost 20 years now.

Just got back from a week in Medellin and a week in Cali, and my booty is now sitting in SP Brazil, at my favorite churrascaría, heading to Casarao in about 30 min.

IMO, the Brazilian girls in general just have that extra sexual chromosome that puts them at the top of the sexual appetite and performance spectrum.

I just had an amazing 3 hours with a beautiful, sexy girl I got lucky to meet at a low end place in Centro.

I don't go to the boates but having said this, I want to try Scandelos. Friends of mine in Brasil like it. I hear Bamboa and Cafe Foto are tourist traps but I have never been. Hit a few clinicas before you hit a boate. I have made 13 visits to 5 different FKKs and Sauna clubs in Germany, I have been to 5 different termas in Rio hobbied for 10 years in Montreal, been to Thailand etc. Etc. And. Well, I haven't found a better deal than Brooklin for looks, service, and value..

Bomboa and Cafe Photo are not tourist traps by any stretch. At one time Scandalo, Bomboa and Photo were all banging, all packed and all worth a visit if one wanted to see the most ladies. They were all about the same price point, and quality. I say "were" because the economic crisis and the rise of direct marketing by freelancers has reduced both the supply and the demand in the boate marketplace. I have not been to either Photo or Bomboa in over a year. Scandalo is reliably packed with women and customers Tue-Wed-Thur. I have heard that Bomboa is still pretty good on those days as well. Photo is a bit different from the other 2 as it has different rules for the ladies which supposedly attract more "semi-pro" types, as a woman can work there at will any night without commitment to work 5 days per week as at the other clubs.

I tell visitors to do whatever their budget allows, if you have deep pockets visit them all. You can always leave and go to another or to Cassarao. If you have to choose 1 only 1, then Scandalo is the best bet.

Its unclear how many of them have visited Brasil as well, and how many of them have allocated time to do an apples to apples comparison. It would be hard for me to do an apples to apples comparison because my Brasil experience is so vast, that any short time in Colombia would not be able to do Colombia justice. That said, anecdotally, just recently, a monger on this board planned to go to Bogota for several weeks, but was so disappointed that he left after a few days and spent the rest of his trip in Sao Paulo. Maybe he did not give Bogota enough time. Also, I have an Irish friend who lived in Rio and Salvador and visited Sao Paulo for a week. He now lives in Medellin and he tells me he was disappointed by the P4P in Medellin compared to his experiences in Brazil. Take that with a grain of salt because he is not the best at finding opportunities on the ground. Still, he has not said to me "man, you got to come to Medellin". Instead he said he is hoping to visit SP again soon.

I like Tangara, but the management there have a tendency to overwork their popular girls. Yesterday, I had a free lance meetup fall through so I texted Tangara at 7 pm to book someone on my to do list, as plan be. But I had concerns that she was probably tired and ready to go home. She had bleach blonde hair with dark roots and what appeared to be an asymmetrical haircut 3 months ago, but was now a mess. She wasn't pretty and she looked trashy, though she was wearing some lace lingerie and her breasts were clearly visible through it, her pink aureolas visible under the thing material. I had been chatting with a long legged Venezolona and her fellow "Caracan" to her left, but they were mostly immersed in texting on their phones. But this guy's alleged girlfriend was something else. Her said she was from Sao Paolo, and her name was Barbara. She spoke no English but seemed happy to make my acquaintance. I didn't get the story on why she was peddling her pussy in Colombia nor did I ask. I always expect there was something she needed to get away from (like the time I met an emaciated but apparently educated Colombiana on the streets of Santo Domingo, living the life a of pauper). Anyways, while me and my newly acquainted amigo were chatting, the branca stood up and walked across the room and around the corner (maybe to the ladies room). Her outfit was like a black lack catsuit but the bottom was like a crotchless panty hose with a pair of matching black lace underwear underneath to hide the goods. She wore patent leather platform heels and clomped across the room with awesome bunda swaying and the rest of the girls glaring at her with a mix of awe and contempt. It was like a tigress walking through the jungle and she just owned the situation.

Meanwhile, I asked my new friend what was the price for an hour. 80 K he explained. That is what the rate was for an hour. I pitched an offer to the Venezolana to my left. Want to go? She nodded, and when I tried to confirm the price, she quote me 150 k! My new friend, Tomas heard this and interjected that was not right. My friend translated and explained that he apparently paid less for sex with his "girlfriend", because it was earlier in the evening. Because of the time I now had to pay more. I was having none of this.

The branca walked back shortly and I saw all this from the front, before she sat next to my friend. Totally non plussed by this dramatic scene of hysterical whoaring, the Paulista stood up slowly, extended her hand to me and led me to the desk to pay the ripoff 150 k for the hour of love. But, to add insult to injury, I was told by the madame that the price was now 180 k for "sexo". Suddenly I got my spine back and my brain took over the thought process. Sure it wasn't even $8 more, but I knew that they would immediately try to gouge me for something like room rental or cheap condoms, VAT, import duties or some other ripoff. I was a whale and they were trying to reel me in. I protested and the response was 160 k for "medio" (half an hour). I was having none of it. Basta! I said and left. That bunda was nice but I wasn't going to be taken like that, and if I had to go to Brazil to get it at a fair local price, then dammit I was going to Brazil to get it.

And that is where we stand. Now, somebody please, please, please tell me that Barbara was just a glimpse of what I've been missing.
