    Travelodge sukhumvit soi 11

Haven't seen Travelodge hotel on sukhumvit soi 11 mentioned much here. Stayed there last February and going back soon. It was very girl friendly. Paid about 50 USD per night, and the standard is good. A bit further away from sukhumvit road than some others, but the walk was fine. I left the room safe open on accident one day, and pretty sure a few thousand baht went missing. I had like 15 k there so they probably thought I wouldn't notice. Little did they know I kept track of every bill, to see how much I spent on girls. My bad anyways for leaving it unlocked; lesson learned!

Of course, the hotel is inside Nana Plaza) It's a great choice if you are looking for a wild stay in Bkk, you can easy walk to Nana Plaza, you can take motorcycle and in 5 minutes you are in soi 11,7 minutes you are in Soi Cowboy all for 60 baht.

The Ambassador Hotel is like the women I tend to pick up when I'm blind drunk. The facade looks great at the time, but once you get inside reality hits you.

I'm planning my return to LOS, and I had hoped to stay at the Majestic Grande. I had a hankering for their amazing lunchtime buffet, but dammit, looks like I have been thwarted by American corporate imperialism in the form of the DoubleTree. Actually, I have status with Hilton, so this would work fine for me, but does anyone have any up-to-date intel on this hotel? All I could find on the post-Hilton version of the hotel was this from MrKim:

All in all, I don't think I'll be staying here again, as it just wasn't value for money at $75/ night. The check in experience plus the bug will deter me from booking this again. The biggest positive is the fact it is so close to Nana but still quiet and discreet. At this price range / star level you can get something better like Hyatt Place in Phrom Phong. For future stays near Nana, I will stick to the reliable Landmark, which is nicer and has access to the Fitness First gym.
    Any thoughts on this hotel?

I stayed at the Ambassador on my very first visit to Thailand 36 years ago approx. Rooms were rather so-so even back then I think. Never returned. Maybe less than 20 years ago someone suggested me to try their buffet lunch which was supposedly a good deal. I tried it once. Wasn't good enough to be worthwhile. I had done buffet lunch / dinners at Century Park Hotel often, but Ambassador was not in same class at all.

Still I presume it fills a role for those needing a budget Hotel that has breakfast etc. Soi 11 has a lot of better hotels to choose from I guess.

It's incredible how sometimes they can be so cheap with such things.

    Why Ambassador No Longer Popular

Responding to an old comment in an area where I'm knowledgeable. I've stayed at Ambassador several times because my buddy liked (past tense) the hotel. My first visit was about 3 years ago and all was fine. Subsequent visits were not good so I will be in Mercure next month, which is about 500 THB more per night. My buddy now stays in either Dream or Mercure.

I've never stayed in the Ambassador main wing, which I've heard is terrible. I've stayed in the various grade rooms high in the tower wing. Noise has never been a problem There is always something wrong within the room. Missing water. Toilet paper holder fallen off the wall. Mold in the shower (quickly corrected when I complained). Kettle doesn't work. Uncomfortable bed. Lamp bulbs dead. Dead battery in safe. My biggest complaint is that the breakfast buffet is not well staffed, mostly long lines for custom cooked eggs. I was particularly ticked off when there was no more bacon with over an hour on the breakfast schedule and the staff told me to come back for bacon tomorrow.

I also had a problem when the suite for which I paid was given to another customer who registered at the same time as me. After discovering the problem I headed back downstairs to complain. The other customer had already unpacked their belongings and used the bed and shower. No other suites were available so I had to wait over an hour to kick out the other customer and get housekeeping to re-clean the room. In retrospect, I wish I would have just kept the room that they gave me instead of going through those headaches.

But I personally prefer the Marriott Executive Apt Sukhumvit Park (Soi 24) and the Marriott Exec Apt Thonglor (Soi 57). The 1 bedroom apartments are more my style with a kitchen, living room, and separate bedroom and for less money. A win win for me. Your preferences may differ. So you should also check out the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park (Soi 22) and since Marriott and Sheraton are now one you should also consider the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit which is nicer than the JW IMHO for around the same price and the Weston and the Four Points by Sheraton. I like the Weston although the Sukhumvit Sheraton is a lot swankier and it has a much nicer pool. If I had to choose between the JW and Sheraton Sukhumvit, I would choose the Sheraton.

I have 2 more points to make:

    1. ALL 5 STAR HOTELS IN BKK ARE GIRL FRIENDLY at least that I know of and that means at least 95% are GF for sure. Pattaya for some weird reason is different. Some 4 & 5 star Pattaya hotels are trying to market themselves as Family Resorts. All I can say is Good luck on that. 555.

    2. Since the merger Marriott has a huge footprint in Sukhumvit and BKK. I recommend the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless CC from Chase. If you sign up for the card, Marriott will give 75,000 instant bonus points as an incentive and waive the 1st years annual fee. Then any time during the next 12 months you can cancel the card without penalty or if you decide to renew, you get a voucher for 1 free night every year and you will be charged the annual fee going forward. Either way it is a very good deal. I am staying at the Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place in Jakarta this spring for 4 nights gratis on Marriott points and vouchers. Now that's a deal! The Ritz Carlton Pacific Place Jakarta is a 6 star hotel.
Great thanks for the confirmation. I am a hardcore Nana guy so I prefer JW Marriott. That is a good point about the Marriott credit card. I'll check it out.

I stayed at the Grande Centre Point Terminal 21 a month ago and 1 guest was fine but no alcohol on the room service. Room did have a big fridge / freezer though so just went shopping in the attached mall supermarket (basement level). I believe a 3rd person in the room was going to cost about 1900 thb.

I used to stay there regularly several years ago but then I just couldn't get a room there. Always fully booked. Haven't tried to book in there for a few years now, but I'd imagine the reason you don't see information often about this place is the difficulty getting in. Not sure if tour groups book it in advance or they have long term guest, I just don't know.

Location is great and I found the rooms to be spacious and well appointed.
