Ramadan starts on 15 May, which makes the 01 June weekend the midpoint of the holy month of fasting. And it ends on 15 June. Usually, everything (absolutely everything) that is considered entertainment is shut in the first 2-3 days, middle 2-3 days and last 2-3 days of this Ramadan month. So that weekend of 01 June that you are planning might turn out to be a complete non-starter.

I will try it out. The comparison to Pattaya puts it in perspective. I was thinking of making a trip to Pattaya for the weekend. But it will be a hectic one, considering that I fly out of Singapore on Sunday. I have been to Pattaya many times but never to Batam.
It's the 1st June weekend then. Thanks again.
Happy mongering!

The bars AC has mentioned are all in NED, but IMHO the women there are well past their shelf life. Perhaps OK to have a couple of drinks with and fool around in the bar, but I would never bring one back unless I am [CodeWord140] drunk. I am not putting AC down, just sharing my perspective on the women in these bars. A few bars have gone the Chinese way where women sing on stage and bar patrons dole out money to waiters for paper garlands for these girls. What a sham.
Its all in a grid of 2 x 2 streets. So you will be able to take a quick walk around and survey all the bars within an hour before you decide to settle into one for a drink. Feel free to enter, look around and walk out right back in case do do not see anything you fancy. See the pic. It is an old map of NED but it helps you get the drift
There is another property by the name Harmoni Suites which is further South on the same road, and this is pretty decent too, but not close to NED. The other hotel (my favorite) that is strategically located like Harmoni is Goodway. But it is a much older property in comparison. Still some upper category rooms are quite nice.

I hopped a ferry last Friday with an upgrade to business class using Horizon fast ferry. 48 return plus an extra 10 each way for business. This is defensively recommended. The whole immigration and boarding is so simple and easy so I arrived in Batam fresh and ready to go. I hopped a cab and paid 50 k for my 2 kilometre trip to Harmoni hotel. Some people say that you should only pay 20 k for the taxi but for 5 dollars all up who really cares.
After I checked in I walked straight out into chilli bar and had myself a few beers. SAN mig light goes for 3. 50 each and if you buy 4 you get the 5th free. The bar was full of girls and a lady drink will cost around 5-7 dollars depending on the bar. The girls aren't amazing like LOS or PI but it was fun regardless. Unfortunately there is no more gogo there so it's only regular bars however still great fun. A few out of the way bars had some really cute girls who will cost around 40 for barfine and 100ST Negotiated.
I spent a lot of time at cock and bull and a must try is their meat pie which is the best pie I've ever had. Again cheap beers, friendly waitresses and a good vibe. I never checked out no namedisco because I was too drunk or asleep but I can tell you even on weekends the place is dead, so quiet which means it's a fun Wild West town of your own to explore.
Don't compare Orchard towers to Batam. 60 dollar ladies drinks to 7 dollars it's an easy choice. The vibe is also excellent in Batam just the same feeling I get every time in Pattaya or Angeles.
This is a must do so don't think about it just book it in. PM me if you need a wingman.

Hi Guys,
I will do my due diligence and go through all the reports. But it'll be great help to know whether it is worth a trip to Batam island? Or better to stay in Singapore for mongering?
I know it is all about luck but I just have a weekend. And I want avoid spending it disappointed.
Thanks in advance for an honest feedback.

I have an upcoming trip towards this month end - 26 to 28 May, just before Hari Raya.
A quick check with Batam veterans about the status of massage shops on these dates. I am told that until Lebaran everything stays open.
Can someone confirm? I also read a report (a few posts ago) about Permata Indah being shut. Really? So which are the best ones to go to now?

Posts: 303I second the drugs and English. When the girl is almost fluent, I tend to wonder. Not a big problem be I am always very upfront about what I am looking for. Just curious about what I have.

Newton seems to be doing some major overhaul on the building but the club seemed to be going late morning Sunday still. Will definitely try to find those kind of boobs!

There are hookers, but they are too pricey for what they are. Some girls there, waiting in the back of the hall, demand 1 M just for one pop, and they are not more beautiful or mode educated than those you may meet in a disco. Just a long black dress, and they think they are elevated to "5 stars escort" level. Last time, after hearing "one million only!" I escaped and I run to Newton, where I met the owner of the wonderful pair of tits that I posted here (scroll back, and you'll find it. Impossible to miss that masterpiece).

Next time, give them the impression you know the place and authoritatively simply tell them that you have no intention to take an ojek at that time. Like sharks, if there is no fresh blood, they leave.

So what did I do in Batam? I met two girls through Wechat (Yes the video chat requirement helped a lot) one for ST and another for massage with extras. Nothing extraordinary to say about that but had fun and damages 400-500 k. That is also what I paid Dragon Den? Massage that I stumbled upon with a help from a ojek and had a decent session with a 20 year old. I almost opted for a normal massage with a really beautiful girl through Wechat but time was a factor in play with my boat back so went to the larger one opposite Formosa which wasn't bad but I will most likely try other normal joints.
I checked out Noname but Friday was really bad day and Saturday despite a good live band on stage did not really have a good atmosphere. They charged me 60-70 k for a coke so better go for the beer I think it's almost the same!? I did also go to Square Club and mingled with some local girls but yeah unless one in the crowd speaks English it gets tricky but was nice and I think I might hit it up again and try my luck without p2 p. The place is a bit pricey but 100 k+ for a drink is not to bad but I reckon some prefer to spend it on other activities. ! I of course spent some time in Nagoya area and visited a lot of the places behind Harmoni from the main road and met some nice people all over. That said I didn't remotely have enough time to check it all out and still enjoy myself with some chitchats and drinks. The area isn't really big so don't be surprised to run into the same people do.
I will most likely return for a visit in the future since it's so convenient for me and affordable to go out have drinks and good food both local and fusion with western.
Some of the bad is that ojeks would hassle me for 3-12 blocks and one persistent guy was screaming "WE GO TOGETHER. I WORK HERE" and is the first time in Asia for a very long time I almost lost it. That said I never felt unsafe but man Batam Centre is a dirty dirty place. Yes there is a lot of girls but what I mean the streets, alleys and so on is filled with rubbish, rats and cockroaches. Next time over I will most likely rent a motorcycle and go explore more of the city but also the island.
Over and out!

I took a impulsive trip to Batam long overdue. Stay near the centre of anyone want to explore together let me know. I plan to hit up Gold Bird KTV but Wechat is flooded with girls and thank god for video chat so I don't know if I will make it that far!
First impression affordable and convenient. Think this is not my last time here. Will report on the girls!

Hi,
Due to taking new work assignment, I have a reason to visit Batam once every few weeks. I have not been there before, so you can say I'm a newbie in Batam. I'm mid 40's from Malaysia and hope to make friends when I go to Batam. If anyone cares to make a new friend, for drinks, chit chat or to hunt together, please drop me a message. I will be happy to buy a new friend a beer anytime.
Cheers,
Onlyme.
