Excellent post. You hear about gringos getting mugged or scoped in poblado because that's where the vast majority go. Very very few tourists go to Aranjuez, Manrique, etc. Rice Rocket has a great system down and I enjoy his posts, but I wouldn't recommend most of my fellow hobbyists to do the same. If you speak Spanish and live there and are street wise that's a different thing.
