The Taiwan CDC has announced that passengers will be allowed to transit Taoyuan International Airport with some restrictions beginning June 25. This is welcome news for me, given that I prefer EVA Airlines for my travel across the Pacific. That announcement was from June 24,2020 and hasn't been applicable anymore for a long time.

A question to the Forum travelers who have planned and stayed in Thailand for 35 days instead of the 30 days granted to US passport holders. I have been to Thailand multiple times but have never had the luxury to stay for longer than 10 days or so, now retired, everyday is a Saturday. Thanks in advance of your experiences, and possible procedures. I do know where Immigration is in Jomtien near where I will be staying but it would be nice to get it over and done with in advance if possible.

I'm in the same boat. Just retired to spend my days traveling and mongering. First stop is Thailand for about 60 days, maybe longer, but probably not due to heat. We'll see. Next stop after that is Brazil.

But yes, as others have mentioned, get a visa for however long you're planning on traveling. It's a bit of a hassle right now. There's a lot of forms to fill out. Some prerequisites for travel. You've probably already done your research: Thailand Pass, travel insurance (e. G. AXA. Not Sawadee), visa, international driver's permit, hotel, pcr test, plane ticket, etc. If you need more info on this, let me know. I just finished all my paperwork and bookings and I'm just waiting on the visa approval now.

Thank you for the answers that have been sent regarding the use of a Recovery certificate.

I specify that my main concern was to be quarantined on arrival in Thailand if I was positive despite a Recovery Certificate. The procedure says that I can get on the plane (if I understood correctly, paragraph 2 of the Embassy flyer "in case of positive RT-PCR result must have a medical certificate stating that you have recovered.... "), but nothing is indicated on what happens on arrival in Thailand. And I have a huge doubt. Everything that is not written can be subject to interpretation and in general doubt always works against you.

For the moment I have not found a formal and reliable answer for my personal case. I sent an email to Thailand Pass who never answered me. A hotel in Phuket told me that I will be tested on arrival and that depending on the CT used I will be quarantined or not. Following the doctor's advice.... Faced with such uncertainty, I preferred to give up my trip temporarily.

So far my journey has been as follows:

1 - Tested positive covid (during the test before departure 72 hours for Phuket Sandbox).

2 - Onset of symptoms the next day (probably Omicron).

3 - Very slight fever for 3 days. Runny nose and caught.

4 - Antigen negative after one week but still PCR positive.

5 - PCR negative after 3 weeks.

In this mess I consider that I was lucky to have been diagnosed positive at home rather than in Thailand.

I specify that I was vaccinated 3 doses (AZ, AZ, Pfizer) before.

Since my negative PCR test, I have rescheduled a Test & Go Phuket stay, leaving next week.

And put a candle in the church.

I've been following the ThailandTourism subreddit for a while now. This specific thread https://old.reddit.com/r/ThailandTou...pcr_test_will/ asks the exact same question. While it's hard to get definitive answers to "what if" questions, the consensus is that you'll be OK and you can show the Certificate of Recovery to the virtual doctor to avoid quarantine in case your PCR test comes back positive.

I thought it was a fascinating interview because it detailed everything that happened to him at the airport and at the hotel upon check-in. I want to travel to Thailand as part of the Test & Go but I am still Covid positive (Sars Cov2 detected) after 18 days.

I now have a valid European Recovery Certificate.

For those who have had this experience or who are sufficiently informed, would you have the answers to the following questions:

1 - Is this Recovery Certificate well recognized at Phuket and Suvarnabhumi airports?

2 - Do I still have to do a Covid test on arrival? Do I have to do quarantine if I'm still positive?

3 - Do you know hotels that refuse the registration of positive people with a Certificate of Recovery?

4 - Should a PCR test also be done on the 5th day? Do I have to do quarantine if I'm still positive?

Going to the Thai embassy or consulate is old school, maybe not even possible now. Don't even need to mail away your passport or buy a money order. Try the E-Visa. Easy and free. Instead of getting a visa pasted into your passport they will send approval email. You print that email and give it to airlines and Thai immigration upon your arrival.

Yes, there is a fee. I was wrong on the free part. I believe it was free in early December.

The website that I mentioned below is new. The website should work almost everywhere. Very early in the process there will be a series of simple, non personal, questions that will determine if you need a visa and if the E-Visa is appropriate for you. Definitely look at that webpage before you start dealing with embassy or consulate. In my case I need a visa and the E-Visa is appropriate.

Don't know about the country mentioned, but in my country the online application was closed until further notice (closed for more than a year now). So applying in person was the only way to do so in my country.

I was on the website yesterday from US, worked fine for me, I did not get it finished yet, but I think there is a $50 fee (1650 Baht approx) which I think is about the same if appearing in person in Thailand. There are multiple "document attachments" , one of which was the "insurance documentation" and on the web site is "requires" $100,000 US coverage, which I think is old and now down to $50,000, but that error or change may or may not flunk your application if it is not exactly what they are looking for at the Embassy. They also say you can apply 90 days prior to arrival, while more current announcements have said 60 days prior to arrival. Cheers.

First, You need to check with Thai Visa or the Thai embassy in your home country.

The answer to many of your questions are Yes. Yes, you must be tested twice on day of arrival and day 5. Both most be arranged through a designated hotel approved by Thai Government (SHA). You have to stay at this hotel on Day 1, and again on Day 5. You must have Covid insurance at your expense. You have to allow your whereabouts to be tracked on your phone between those two testing dates, if you elect to stay elsewhere in the interim days. You must have a PCR test and be negative prior to departing from your own country. If you test positive on either day, woe is you because you may find yourself in a hospital or a field hospitel for 10 days quarantine, the latter accommodations are mainly converted formerly dodgy hotels.

Why anyone would submit themselves to these conditions are beyond me. Good luck but you have some work to do.

Usually they make you wait until your time is up before you extend. You can't just go anytime and tell them to add 5 more days. I would do as Looking said and get the time from the embassy before going.
