Abeshit captured me at the border, BB was taking a day off... It was a Thursday, a slow night in Nogales. I wanted to hook up with Lorania but she was absent. I thought again of Karla, so I wanted to go to LaConga. Immagine this, LL took Abe to LaConga, go figure. LL is tour guide for a fucking tout. We established Karla really was gone forever and that did nothing for my attitude.

Day 3

Started the night at Obsessions, and BB got tunnelvision for a very hot girl with a red bikini. He is shit with names, so we call her red. Parking:
Nogales is about a one hour drive from Tucson. When coming to the border area, I recommend parking rather than taking your car across. Uleta has a parking lot that has been recommended for years on this board, as does McDonalds. Ed's is A new parking lot. Apparently associated with McD's just before the big turn at the end of the interstate--just before Uletas. Prices are $4, but the guy collecting the fee seems to go home a lot earlier than the Uleta's guy. I never had to pay after 8pm and never had any hassle. The walk is about 150ft further as you have to walk thru the Uleta's lot to get there.

Crossing over:
In the 75 or so times I have crossed the border in Nogales over a 5 year period, I have never been noticed, or even slowed down by Mexican authorities. For that reason, I do not recomment pressing any buttons for any kind of voluntary declaration. Just walk thru. I cannot stress enough not to carry weapons, even cartridges, or drugs into Mexico.

Policia:
Unlike the USA, the police in Mexico have the right to stop you, ask for your identification, and search your person and belongings for any reason they see fit. Probable cause and unreasonable search laws we cherish in the USA do not exist. Reasons I have given for having been stopped and searched no less than four times in Nogales are:

1. Handing something to a known drug dealer (a tout)
2. riding in an illegally registered taxi
3. Standing on a street corner too long
4. Walking out of a dark alley with a woman.

I need not tell you that I was not carrying any drugs or paraphenalia at the time of search, or I would not be here in the USA typing this report. Remember too that it is a good idea to be polite. A bad cop can just as easily plant something on you as not if he does not like you. If a small bribe is asked, I would be inclined to pay it. I has never been asked of me yet--I would love some other opinions on this point if you regulars would care to chime in.

Crossing back:
As of now, US citizens can cross with a Drivers License. A Passport will be required within the year, or so the rumor goes. I have never been searched, but my overnight bag is usually x-rayed. Need I stress not to carry drugs back? They expect you to tell them your country of citizenship, and I have observed agents getting shitty with others because Illinois is not a country. Smile, open your ID or Passport, say US citizen (if that applies) and that is usually the end of the formalities. Some will ask what you are doing in Nogales at 3am, but enjoying the nightlife is a perfectly legitimate answer. If I get meds at the pahrmacy, I usually declare what they are for--chest cold etc rather than risk having to produce a perscription. I do carry old presc bottles with me and drop the new meds into the bottle to save that hassle. Declare your booze, but take only the allowable amount each day.

Taxis:
The passing into Mexico dumps you off a a corner where the touts and taxis hand out waiting for you. Unless your destination is LaConga, the bar - *****house about 2km from the border, a taxi is pretty much unnecessary. LaConga is a $5 fare each way to and from. If you find yourself wishing to get a taxi to the border from anywhere in the city, tell the driver, "La Linea." You will be delivered back to the border crossing. You will be framed a fool to get into a taxi and asked to be taken to any other bar, as they are all within a short, safe walk.

Money:
Us dollars have worked fine in every transaction I have ever attempted. Bars and clubs generally price in dollars anyway. If you are staying at a hotel or buying food, they generally trade you at 10pesos = 1 dollar. The exhange rate is about 11:1, so you would get a 10% benefit for changing money. Buying meds or alcohol usually trades at or near the exchange rate. If you are going to drink and have sex in the clubs, take an extra $100 with you more than the acts themselves--drinks are about $5-$6 each, ladies drinks are usually $10-$11, every asshole from the waiter to the guys in ties to the guy manning the door to the privados has his hand out for his tip.

Condoms:
The use of condoms by the girls is almost universal for blowjobs and sex, which is a good thing if you ask me. If you are taking a girl to your hotel, have a supply of them there. Many of the girls do not have them. For those of you that have a problem with using a raincoat, and I have met some mongers with just such an issue, I cannot recommend Nogales. They have had very poor luck getting service. One guy got laid bareback only after three days and three dates, two of which did not work out well for him. Remember, most of the girls are practicing Catholics, so while a condom and paid sex are sins for which they seem to be able recieve pardon, pregnancy is for keeps.

Alcohol:
May be purchased at any number of liquor stores for consumption in Nogi or the USA. If taking it back, it must be un-opened. You can buy liquor from 12pm to 12 am. I ususally buy a bottle for the hotel, and if I intend to drink a lot in a single club, we often get a bottle of our favorite, bring it to the club and pay the bar a $40 bottle fee. That way you can drink a whole fifth in an evening for about $65 without paying $6 a shot, which, due to the size of the shots they serve would cost about double.

Drugs:
Pharmacies abound for perscription and non-perscription meds, usually at about half of USA costs unless you are on a good med plan. If you need a perscription, one can be procured. There is one 24 hour pharmacy available, the touts will show you where it is. Of particular interest to this board are Cialis for $10-$12 per tab, Viagra for $10 per tab, and generic viagra for $5-$6 per tab. For the sake of completeness of this report; and although I cannot recommend it, illegal drugs such as marijuana (Mary Jane), Cocaine, Meth, and Ice are available. It has been offered to me by touts, junkies in the hotel, waiters, and even a girl once. If you choose this very risky behavior, be warned that the police do pay informants handsomely, and Mexican jail is worse than a bad dream. Be very picky with whom and how you deal in such matters.

Food and water:
I have found the food at the steet stalls, hotels, and restraunts to be good, inexpensive, and safe. I have not yet gotten sick eating in Nogales. I do drink only bottled water and avoid ice in any non-alcoholic drink.

Touts:
An ever present plague, but as I have mentioned earlier, make them work for you. The simplest form is the guy who gets $1 when he successfully brings you to a TD bar and you pay your cover charge. Most of them are a waste of good oxygen, but a few actually have a phone list if you do not wish to pay TD club prices.

Guys in ties:
Same as touts, except they are the guys that arrange dates who work for the TD bars. They always want their tip, and it is usually more than a tout would charge.

Hotels:
I have tried four chica-friendly hotels so far in Nogales. Remember, takeout from the clubs is usually an option for $0 - $20 more than sexo in the club, but the girls are on the clock. Taking them back to the hotel after work saves the club fee but sometimes leaves you holding your balls.

1. Granada $42 is the nicest, but I found it just out of cell phone range and a pretty good hike from the zona.
2. Olivia $42 is about four blocks from Obsessions is a good choice, quiet and comfortable.
3. An old one on the back street behind Bolerios. This was $20 for short time, but I do not know the daily rate, I was not impressed.
4. The newest hotel is Pancho Villa ($40), which is pictured in Rue Kraft's latest post. It is not as quiet, as many of the guests are also mongers, touts, working girls, and the occasional meth/coke addicts on a 20+ day binge. It is close to the action, situated on the back street behind and between Lust and Placers.
5. There is a nice looking hotel between VIP and Potros Cantina which is NOT lady friendly.

The action in Nogales, listed geographically:

La Conga:
Not a TD bar. This is a bar in which all of the girls that haunt the place are definately for sale. I believe the current rate is $65 for full service, including the girl for one pop in a room attached to the bar. The condom is extra. This is a hit or miss place, mostly miss. The girls, tend to the fugly side, although some real gems have come out of this bar over the years. Drinks are inexpensive, but the ladies drinks are still twice as much as yours. The place has gone downhill since the Carla/Paola Heyday. The place is not presently heated, winter chill keeps the girls in heavy coats, which may be a good thing based on my observations this Feb. Worth a look if you have time, little money, and want a little bit of a walk on the wild side without really sticking your neck out.

Obsessions:
Obsessions is the only TD bar in the right side of the tracks (facing south from the border). To ge there, walk one block straight ahead from the taxi stand at the border, make the next left and it is 30 feet up that street on the left. Open Tue thru Sat starting at 7pm. They have a fair stable with three or four real hotties on a good night. They have a central stage, pool table, 5-6 open privados and one room with a couch and bathroom.

Other bars on the right side of the tracks:
All of the others bars in the 5 block area are more or less regular bars, but there are a lot of willing partners that can come out of them with you, assuming you have a hotel room and decent enough Spanish to make the deal.

The following bars are located on the left side of the tracks. They can be accessed by turning left at the border taxi stand, going 1 block to the traffic circle, turn left and crossing to a small park and then continuing straight across the railroad tracks to come out on a two-block area between the tracks and the mountain. If you get confused, fear not, there will probably be a tout to guide whether you want him there or not as you make the journey. The georaphical listing here starts at the fartherest point south of the zona and proceeds north on the front street then around the block to the back street, heading south again.

VIP:
Starting at the far south of the Zona, about 150 meters from the middle of the strip, VIP is best known as the after hours club since it stays open until about 4am. There are actually two floors, the bottom, street level, floor has been productive for me when other late-hour options were unproductive.

Massage Parlor:
The ownership appears to be the same as Lust and the other massage parlor on the other end of the block. The dancers from that club get shuffled back and forth to the MP. I have used both MPs in the past. Fee stucture is $40 for the room/massage + your choice of $50 for a HJ, $70 for a BJ, or $100 for everything. A viable alternative to sex in a closet.

Potros Cantina:
A regular pickup bar, good values if not hot chicas. I have pulled several unsatisfactory $25-$50 full service dates from there, but the quality was low and the rush factor was high. YMMV as my Spanish sucks.

Bolerios:
A large club right in the middle of the block. It now opens around noon and goes 7 days. The stable is pretty good, with some of my favorites, with three or four real hotties on a good night. They have a central stage, pool table, 4 open privados and one room with a bench and bathroom.

Lust:
formerly Divas, and only open two weeks now, the place is assembling a nice group of girls. There were three hotties on my last visit. Owner is a bit hungry and I negotiated $150 for an hour for a girl in my room, which is a $30 to $50 savings over Placers or Bolerios. They have a couch upstairs and two rooms which were unfirnished but the owner offered to take the cushions from the couch for fucking... Keep this on the tour and see how things progress.

Placers:
A medium size club that is a Nogi standard. The stable fair, but we found a couple of real gems there. They have a tiny central stage, pool table, 8 open privados. They also have and one room with a bed and bathroom on the side of the building.

Cherrys:
The classic daytime spot, I have never had occasion to, or been tempted by any of the ladies there, so I do not know the layout beyond the stage.

Massage Parlor:
Same comments as above MP.

Lork Blacks:
At the north end of the block on the front street. This TD used to be the standard, but has fallen into disrepair. As of last year, the central stage, a pool table, and 6 open privados and there were rumors of a bed option. I did not venture into the place this year.

Club 69:
High prices and fake tits are the main attraction at this TD. I have not yet been impressed by anything I have seen at this club except for the short time one of my ATF's I had met at Obsessions worked there, briefly. I flatly refused to enter the place on this trip and have never been tempted by any providers there to even find out how about the layout of the private areas.

Fernis:
An iteresting little cross between a bar and a TD. Prices are the lowest of any of the TD bars. There is often one or no fine looking girls there, but always worth a value priced drink to have a look. They have a central stage, several privados and a room with a bed option onsite.

Prices:
They suck in Nogales. Way too fucking high in comparison to other Northwest border towns, especially for the higher-end models, which are found almost exclusively in TD clubs. As noted, full service can be found on the street from $20 to $100. In La Conga for $65. From TDs from $150 to $200. After hours with TD strippers for $100 - $150. Why? There are many reasons for this, including the proximity to central Arizona, where prices are just as high in Tucson or Phoenix, the small city size and traffic the city recieves. The governament is very conservative in comarison to Juaraz or TJ, so prostitution only thrives thru bribes, which probably cost the clubs a lot of money each year. The benefits are the girls are less jaded and the elusive GFE is easirer to find in Nogales than larger border towns, and there are a hell of a lot of 8's, 9's and even a few 10's for the size of the city.

I have an unpleasant opinion of anybody who believes that a woman is inherently worth less in Mexico or other nation than the same woman would cost the USA. The fact that they usually charge far less is an economic advantage as is the fact that all things in Mexico are negotiable; but to say one should not pay the local going rate for an equal quality strikes me as racist more than simply being a Cheap Charlie. I hope not to get into this debate on this board as I post my recent trip reports, which are coming soon.

Was in Phoenix for business so I thought it would be appropriate to visit Nogales.

It was a cool Thursday night that was quite slow. Only Studio 69 was half full. All the other clubs were very quiet. I was one of two customers at 11 PM in Obsessions. Had a privado with Mirasol from Obregon. She was hot and said it was her second night on the job. Asked her to come to the Pancho Villa after her shift. She agreed but was a no show. DAMM IT!!

Potros Cantina was interesting. When I first arrived at 8 PM and it was fairly full of guys and three ladies. Two fugly and one fairly hot. Sat at the bar next the the fairly hot one, Catrina and ordered a couple of beers. This is definitely a local bar, several struck up a conversation to see what I was all about. My espanol is very good, but it fits nowhere. Not Nogales, Monterrey, Argentina, or Costa Rica. I have a accent that simply yells foreigner. Oh well. Any way back to Potros. Had a extensive conversation about a bunch of differing rambling subjects with two local dudes. I kept an eye on Catrina but figured that patience would pay off. It never did and she was the one that got away. Eventually, I headed over to Studio 69 and nothing struck my fancy. Assuming that Mirasol for Obsessions was going to be arriving at 3:15 AM I just killed time.

Went back to Potros Cantina about 2 AM and some of the same tired dudes and ladies were there but not Catrina.

Went back to the Pancho Villa Hotel and waited for Marisol in room 12. She was a no show but at 3 AM ish there were many ladies entering rooms with a overall high amount of comotion and movement.

Pancho Villa is as previously reviewed. New, with not counter space in the bathroom, decent bed, but noisey even on the non street side. There is simply so much concrete and tile that nothing absorbs sound.
