Yes, I read that article and thought all the parties she was being invited to was awesome. However, I had the feeling that a middle aged guy may not find himself in the same situation. What you write makes perfect sense and I normally would agree 100 percent. But the article reminded me that when I was in Odessa a couple years ago and opened my apartment door at exactly the same time as the couple across the hallway from me a conversation started in perfect English and they wanted me to come out and party with them and their friends that night. I'm neither female or young. So there is something to the author's experience and point she is making. I just figured they find Americans cool, young or old, male or female. And wanted a western viewpoint for discussions on their weekend drinking night together with a chance to practice their obviously proficient English speaking skills. I'd guess all these themes played into the author's luck of having a great time in Kyiv.

For the record I had other plans that night related to our hobby and so declined. I should have taken them up on their offer. I'm sure it would have been a much better night.

Depends on how you dress and how you carry yourself. A majority of all the bottle tables in the premier nightclubs are filled by older guys.

Age has nothing to do with it.

Don't the girls report you if you try and negotiate with them?

Plan on travelling to Ukraine in couple of weeks. I am double vaccinated and plan on getting PCR test 48 hrs prior to arriving. Anyone have difficulties at the border / airport entry?

Based on what I see on the website, PCR Test isn't necessary if you are double vaccinated.

You'll need to buy insurance from an ukrainian company however (I did and it's only a couple of euros a day), and don't forget to save / print the contract they will send you and show it at the airport.

I did just that and had no problems 3 weeks ago.

If you come from India or Russia, it's another story, which I did not bother to read, since that's not the case for me.
