There was a couple of girls that owed me a favour. No experts in the field. I asked them to follow her IG account, as I would have been blocked immediately by her. Or she would have stopped posting, They also found out that some guys were posting revealing photos, and sent me.

50 euros a week is not a huge loss, but it's the emotional damage that hurts. Never put too much trust on a girl you just met and expect her to stay committed to you. Finding a serious relationship in Kyiv is possible if you could stay in the city for long enough time and know the girl better. Otherwise the girls would just see you as a sex tourist and breathing ATM.

Your story is a typical Kyiv experience. There are a lot of scammers in the city. A clichee that has been frequently discussed here.

The flight was canceled. Ukraine International Airlines canceled all international flights for May and June. Maybe you just haven't received any information yet.

The quarantine facilities have so far only been set up for Ukrainians. If I remember correctly it was a hotel near the airport. About $ 400 for the two-week quarantine. But the price can go up if foreigners come to Kiev again. The first returnees from China (Ukrainians) were housed in an old barracks. The equipment really reminded of the Gulag.

There may be no way to do a corona test in Ukraine. The airlines may request a test before departure. In Vienna, an officially recognized corona test costs 190 euros. In Frankfurt 160 euros.

The first Place where people was isolated was an Sanatorium, its like a health spa (Russian style) it was not to be compared with a Gulag.

Yes it was worn down but thing where working there, people normally pay for go there BTW.

I not think they use the hotel for the isolation, because the law clearly say it have to be a hospital.

There are many hospitals (private) in the bigger cities who can do a Covid19 Test if needed.

UIA still hasn't cancelled my flight from Barcelona to Kyiv scheduled for May 27, but it will likely be cancelled. In any case, I can't get to Barcelona from where I am now in Spain because intercity buses are not running. I'm thinking maybe planning to reschedule for July 1. It might be possible to do self-quarantine once I get to Kyiv, if my Airbnb host sends me a +380 SIM in advance. However, that smartphone monitoring app (dij bdoma) appears to flaky, according to Google Play. As a foreigner who only speaks intermediate Russian, I don't want problems with the police, so I might have to go to an "isolator" facility. Do you know what those are like and what they cost for 14 days? I hope not some leftover Soviet Gulag-style solitary confinement cell with a bucket for a toilet (parasha). And when you say expensive covid test, how expensive?

Well, I think it quite commonly happens.

In the second half of 2018 I was seeing a 18 year old cutie in Kiev every few weeks for 3000 UAH for all night. In January 2019, a month after I left Kiev for 3 months, she asked me to send her some money, and I sent it to her. Upon return to Kiev, I found out that she had a boyfriend.

But remembering someone here who said never send money to anybody whether or not you know her, I sent her only 1000 UAH. It was also because I thought, not so realistically, that she could wait for a few more months until I return. But I never saw her again.

When I sent her money, I knew she was pretty desperate. In hindsight it means that the boyfriend was not very helpful to her. But if she was lying to me by hiding her boyfriend from me, she does not deserve any money.

She still remains to be one of the most memorable girls in my life.

Although I can see how anybody could be hooked on a girl who dedicates a tattoo to him, sending 50 Euros a week does sound a little excessive to me.

I would never send money to a girl I have not met no matter what country she is in. I never expect a girl I am paying to be "faithful" to me. I am not monogamous to her, why should she be to me? If it is a business transaction, don't fool yourself. If sending a girl 50 euro a week provides you with the services you want, then I have no problem with it. But if you met a girl just once, and you paid her money, she is NOT your girlfriend--she is someone you are having a business transaction with. Business transactions can be fantastic but it is not a basis for a personal relationship.

That flight is 99% cancled and I would contact UIA now to get it confirmed.

Right now UIA don't sell any flights as I can see before 01.07. 2020 other than special flights that pops up some days, the next 5 days they have only 9 special flights going either in or out of kyiv.

Wizz sell flights starting from 31 MAy but if they will fly, time will Tell.

I think that the borders will open in 2-3 weeks.

And without self isolations, but maybe with a rapid test when landing and waiting for that result.

No trains, no buses between the cities. The city buses and the metro will run regularly again in the next few days (with price increase). But the intercity buses only in 3-4 weeks. The owners of the interurban bus companies protested. It is about an earlier resumption of the trips and about state compensation. No foreign tourists (or very few) travel on these buses.

Ukraine is not Italy, Spain or Turkey. The Ukrainian economy is not dependent on tourism (from abroad). If you believe the opposite: it's just an illusion.

Ukraine relies on millions of Ukrainians to work in Europe and the rest of the world. This pipeline cannot be interrupted. These foreign Ukrainians are sending billions of dollars home. At the moment, Ukrainians cannot officially travel to the West. But the visa offices are open. Despite the border closure, over a million Ukrainians have access to the EU. Through Poland. With a work visa or "Karta Polaka".

I am certain that Ukrainians can enter the EU as tourists in 1-2 months. But foreigners are still not allowed to enter Ukraine. If you want to go to Ukraine as a foreigner, there will be strict laws. Strongly monitored quarantine. Or expensive corona tests.

And yes it was mostly interregional companies who want their routes started again.

I Also agree with you that Ukraine needs the money that the workers send home, that why the borders are officially open for Ukrainians that work abroad and can prove it.

(I know many that already left (for Finland, Poland) and more will this week).

But Ukrain also need the Turist and the Business travelers who come here to the big IT industri.

Ukraine Turism industry had from 2017 to 2018 and rise of 250% and 500 rise in job created.

Numbers for 2019 is not out yet but there was huge raise also (I work with hotels on the booking side so I know the % from outside Ukraine in the big hotels).

Right now Foreigners can only enter Ukraine if they have TRP / PRP (Temp / Permantly Residency) or are married or have children here.

"Strongly monitored quarantine. " That's an joke here, People tha come can just sign that they will self isolate at home and then download the app.

Most people don't follow the rules after leaving the airport and I have not read anyone beeing punished due to the app yet.

I am literally considering entering Ukraine on foot from Belarus. Seems totally doable considering the short distance between Kyiv and Ukrainian-Belarussian border.

This is not easy to admit but I want to war all of this girl and similars. Katerina had a double life for several months, maybe triple or more. I met her beginning of December, came to my apartment. I went again to Kiev in January and she stayed three nights, with a son of 5 years. Lives in a shitty apartment with alcoholic mother, I saw pictures. End of January she starts to ask me to transfer money, tells me about her helplessness, depts, and how lucky she feels to have me. Opens up for steady relationship, dedicates a new tattoo to me and even piercing when I ask her, to test her submissiveness. April comes I have started to send 50 euro every week, but my suspicions grow. When confronted with my questions, her english becomes much better, indicating that someone is helping her. I discover her second IG account and start asking old friends in Kiev to look into this girl. We stay on friendly terms but I stop sending her money, telling her she's been found out to have a boyfriend in Kiev. She stops asking for money.

I wrote here, some years ago, nobody should send money to a girl he has not met. I sometimes make exception with girls I have met. Others must make their own decisions, myself I don't like to be cheated this way. But on the other hand, it is unrealistic of me to expect a 20 yo girl to be faithful and not lie about her personal life when the country is in a lockdown for several months. I look upon this more as my fault, and I cannot be very angry to her for long. But let us all be warned..

Thank you for sharing your negative experience. Your honesty and courage are greatly appreciated here. You've learnt your lesson and it's time to move on. There are plenty of nice girls in Kyiv. Never send a girl weekly allowances when you are away from her, until you have built trust.

All foreigners with a Valid TRP or PRP or with children or wife here can enter still.

I'm sure they will open for tourist / business very soon, the economy can't handle it to long without money coming in.

Unemployment here are already high because of lockdown.

And a lot of people are getting more and more angry, which leads to demonstrations.

Some people argue that Belarus statistics cannot be trusted, so better example is Sweden. EuroMomo just released week 20 report: https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps Scroll down and compare Sweden and Spain. Recall that Spain did nothing initially, then instituted a harsh lockdown, whereas Sweden has been open continuously. But graphs are similar: sharp rise as covid-19 kills off sick elderly, then decline after all sick elderly are dead. Countries that avoided the plague, like Norway and Greece, are going to experience something similar when they open.

Current estimate is that up to 1% of the population could die in countries with aged populations, like most of Europe. Lower percentage in countries with young populations, like most of Africa. Death rate can be reduced by isolating elderly until vaccine is available. But maintaining lockdown of entire society for several years is unrealistic. Because Ukraine is behind everyone else, they can learn from comparing Spain and Sweden. Unfortunately, Ukraine does not depend heavily on tourism, sexual or otherwise, and Ukraine has always had xenophobic tendencies. So even after ending internal lockdown, Ukraine may still require 14 day quarantine for inbound foreigners.

This is the final nail in the Coffin, Kiev is done. Time for you guys to move on. There are many destinations that are cheaper and better.
