Decided to try out a few of the strip joints last week and Applebees was an experience to say the least. Went there on impulse around 2am last Thursday. Firstly the taxi struggled to find it and stopped to ask some dodgy people hanging around. He got out to speak to them, and one started circling the car staring at me which was freaking me out. Then another climbed in the back seat and the driver got back in to say the one in the back would show us the way. Well we were just around the corner but the guy with the directions insisted on coming along. Taxi pulled up about 20 feet passed the entrance and in the dark I couldn't find the right money so had to offer a 1000. He jumped out of the car to get me change and then the guy in the back started to ask for money for the directions. I probably should have given him some but felt stuborn so he got abit abusive. Finally the driver came back with my change and before I got out he warned me to go staight in and not to stop outside because the area was dangerous. I was in half a mind to just leave as I was abit scared but the adrenalin was pumping too so I jumped out and headed for the entrance.

I climbed the stairs and stopped at the top. There was a locked gate to my right and no sign of anyone else and again I was freaking. I heard a voice and finally saw a little grate in the wall to pay through. It was 300 or 400 and I handed over 500. Just then two guys had followed me up the stairs and were crowding behind me and touching my arm. A security guard appeared behind the gate and I asked him to let me in but he shook his head and smiled at me. I imagined being mugged right in front of his grinning face but thankfully my change and a ticket appeared from the grill and he unlocked the gate and let me in. I was crapping myself and just relieved to be in one piece still.

This was gloomier still and there were benches back to back along the wall. Correct money for everything so no messing around, not too late or too pissed, and preferably not alone.

I also tried Liddos wich was more classy and roomy but had no dance there. And the one in Florida (is it Pengo) which has the best looking girls. Again no dance as I figure that a grinding can be had for free elsewhere. Elsewhere nothing had changed. Madhouse and Simmers gets boring fending off the unwanted I find afer a while. I hung out at Havanna, Gypsys and Black Diamond which was good fun and productive. The weather was abit crap. Indeed there was a river literally one night outside Havannan, and security was strict with the grenades etc.

From reading here I have decided to stay at Terminal a couple of days when I arrive to Nairobi late October. But I looked the place up in my guide book (Rough Guide to Kenya 2010 ed.) and much to my surprise it says "No guests after 7pm". That can't be true or can it? And what about Downtown Hotel next door?

The Terminal hotel is known for being a bare-bones backbacker hotel (notice I didn't say cheap). To repeat what has already been said here by others, go to the Central Park Hotel and be done with it. Hell, even the short time hotel (700shs) right around the corner from the Central park is better than the Terminal. BTW, keep this one in mind for the girls that don't have identification or are suspect for other reasons.

I paid for all tourist outtings, dining out, hotel accommodations in Kampala and Mombasa, public transportation costs, phone recharge cards, internet access, satellite TV, groceries, gas; I also had to buy another phone since the one I had brought with me wouldn't work. So I got a dual sim Samsong for a bit over $100USD (I later found the same phone in Haiti for much less, but oh well my Haiti trip came well after my Kenya trip and I needed a phone that worked). I also bought some clothes for myself as well as some things for my family back home. I also misquoted the amount I paid for the water truck; that weekly cost was only 1000KSH, not 10K as I wrote earlier. Ditto for the propane in dropping a zero. When I look back at the blast I had over a month and a half, banging out 4 different ladies in two different countries (my temp gf and the pro in Kenya; my other temp gf and a pro in Kampala) , seeing a lot of sights, eating great food, and bringing back a few souvenirs for only $3, 500, I know I did quite well. Consider that I have spent $3, 500 on two occasions for just a weeks vacation in the Caribbean at two different all-inclusive resorts, banging just one lady! Now I could have done more during my first trip to Kenya, but I decided not to on that trip. However, I will have my work cut out for me in the near future. That's very much true! However, keep in mind that these registrations are quite normal in most Kenyan hotels. Since it is for our own security I have no problem to register my visitors. But if I remember correctly one need not pay for a registered guest at 680 as long as she does not stay overnight! So, no additional (hotel) costs for ST it the afternoon. Can anybody confirm that?
