I remember the Metro being extremely busy so I was waiting for a quieter train. I am not sure how many trains I let pass, but one Police officer approached me kindly telling me to get on a train, and then later another approached me telling me much more firmly to get on a train.

I found later that a few thousand pesos was missing (ie not much), along with a handful of single dollar USD bills (they were only in my wallet to satisfy a potential mugger that that was my main wallet).

For this statement to make any sense there must not be any such thing as bad business decisions. But there are as the original version of JJBee's story proves. He sells all he has, puts together two suitcases and moves to Medellin to rent a room from a webcam model he met as a customer (voyeur, "peeping tom" whatever lolol). He could have just as easily rented a room someplace else for a year, or seen the writing on the wall early. There's no correlation, no "trade" took place.

He's also obsessed with being the all wise one here. All is well as long as others are deferring to his wisdom. But if he gets challenged, called out on his condescending attitude or passive-aggressive snipes he starts slinging mud. It's devolved to that with a number of posters here. Just look up his wars with see Jack Sparrow for one. In my case I challenged him on some points regarding negotiations and dealing with problem girls in the room, and many here found my perspective more reasonable. In response he blasts confidential information regarding an unrelated, bad experience of mine. Discussion of his business ventures only followed this, so you are missing the chronology here.

Here's the reality: I've never been one who vacations several times a year. During my time in the Navy, I kept my leave balance to have just under 60 days available at the end of the fiscal year. When I separated I took 10 weeks of separation leave. Later on I went 22 years without taking a single vacation. Since I decided to start taking vacations, I've averaged 1 vacation of 2 weeks every 18 months. That's just my preference.

Roughly 2 years ago I took a chance on something that didn't work out. So I ended up taking a 1 year vacation. To me it was a fair trade, but to you it was a disaster of epic proportions. Now I'm planning a vacation in July, 16 months after my 1 year vacation ended. Which puts me back on the schedule of vacations that I prefer.

While I would be happy to come back and spend another year in Medellin, it's not something I'm working on. I'm in a good place, surrounded by good people and I'm happy getting out of bed each day.
