I know someone posted to avoid this week but this is the only week I have off until the summer.

Just wondering how bad it is during this time for those that have been there at this time.

Good luck testing negative after 5 days. Studies show people testing positive for months after being infected.

Point taken. But it might also offer insight to those with a big gubberment proclivity why so many folks have such low trust in their actions. It's not illogical.

That aside, knowing these rules also offers one the ability to best work around them legally. If I take a couple of home test kits with me, and test positive, then do the right thing and extend my stay in a hotel room in isolation by a few days and self quarantine and then on the 5th day, I am asymptomatic and test negative, I can board the plane with an n-95 and negative test and I have broken no rules nor harmed anyone. I have also saved 5-9 days of wasteful time stuck due to idiotic policy. That's not such an outlandish outcome for a younger healthier person who is double vaxed and boosted.

The 10 or 14 days is arbitrary, and discriminatory and against international travel and currently achieving no purpose other than hurting the battered tourism and hospitality industry.

Knowing the rules and how they can be used to your advantage is important. I do that type of thing every day.

If I was going for a trip of under 2 weeks, I would get tested before the trip, even though it's not required. Although personally, I won't take a trip out of the country until after omicron settles down. Whether 5 days or 14, I don't want to do the quarantine again.

I don't set policy. Whether a policy makes perfect sense, or is batshit crazy doesn't matter, from the standpoint of being stuck in quarantine in another country. It might be a stupid rule, but it doesn't change how it affects you if you test positive.

This fits in well with a broader subject. It does no good to complain about things you can't change. Almost everything that guys complain about on this thread falls into the "you can't change it" category.

Most guys here are looking for a girlfriend. Most can't get a decent woman to even acknowledge them consistently if at all back where they live. So the first slightly above average (let's face it Most girls around are not smoke shows you see on front page magazines) woman that gives them a little bit of affection they end up falling for. My source: the long line of girls picking up western union checks among other things. Some are here for straight sex. Some low key east to live out the fantasy they wished they lived back when they were younger and none of the attractive girls their age gave them any action.

We are all taking a lot of risks by talking to random people on facebook / the internet and having sex pro or nonpro. If you don't want to risk getting drugged, robbed, scammed, getting an std or getting your feelings hurt, stay home and jerk off. I've tried to be as honest as possible with all these girls I've told them what I am looking for in our interactions. I also try to be careful about hiding stuff that's valuable, guarding my drink and staying in places with security etc. These are all things other members talk about to mitigate risk.

Bad shit does happen but a lot of other mongers here and visitors have developed longer term nontraditional relations with girls (I. E. Slapshot, osteonot, tallman etc). My impression is that with time it's not that hard to develop those friendships and relationships. The ultimate outcome all depends a mix of luck, our own interpersonal skills, ability to detect BS, and no dar papaya. Most guys here probably aren't looking for a girlfriend, at least those who post. It's pretty obvious. Anyone, without ever leaving their home, can find a girlfriend in Medellin in less than 1 hour. Certainly anyone who has more than 1 visit to Medellin has plenty of women who would be thrilled to hop into the novia role.

Whether they can get a woman back home doesn't matter. Whether they were balling the head cheerleader in school, or didn't get laid until they were 35 doesn't matter. What matters, at least on this thread, is can they find what they are looking for in Medellin?
