Your phone number will not be visible in Line. It only uses it to verify the device. There is not even a way to see someone's handle after you have added them. In Thailand you can use the people nearby function but I just did it in Angeles and it gave me 2 hits: a guy and a dog.

It's not the popular as the main stream apps are used all over the world. But to by pass the Security observation it could be used by the peoples who are not living in Korea. I think most often they do it as they need an app apart from their regular apps. If they have Viber with their real name and real friends then they need to install an app just for their mongering services.

FB Messenger is way too intrusive and wlil retain the names of my other FB account.

Skype I use for Business and need to be logged in my main account.

WeChat I can have multiple accounts, and it hides the other names when not logged in. Easiest for me to have multiple logins with name / password.

Viber each new login needs to be phone verified.

IMessage is way to intrusive.

Maybe Kakaotalk is the new hot property.

I always thought it was a dumb idea to keep a chick on retainer, but that is because I assumed guys would be sending way too much. I have a buddy in Thailand that is 71 years old. I would add a level of advertising and sophistication to profiles and the connection pipeline. Both the pro & semi-pro will have dedicated profiles focused on attracting customers.
