It's beneficial for me that the locals here don't speak English at all since I can practice my Russian all the time. I'm not as experienced as you and the other seniors but I'm going to speak my two cents worth. It all depends on the girl usually. If you call one of the girls on the sites, your chances are zero to none; I tried calling them during my first month here and got shouted at and I didn't even understand what they were shouting. It's freezing here and the snow is up to the knees. Volgograd is a long city where all the main roads are mainly straight and stretch quite a distance. There is no metro here, only skorostnoj tramvai which goes faster than a usual tramvai since it's underground and the metros are not that big like those in Moscow. I mostly use trolleybus or marshrutka since I know where I'm going and most of the fun places are in the centre.
