In Vietnam, the scene isn't really underground, it's just a hassle.

Despite prostitution being illegal, venues and girls are not that hard to find. The problem is above all the attitude. In Vietnam, both the girls and the hanger-ONS always try to angle for more money for less (or preferably no) service. In addition, if they can get away with not delivering, they will. This is true even for trivial things, for example you can't just buy a bus / train ticket from an agent and assume it'll be valid, must buy from the bus company itself. In the sex industry, there's more scope for ambiguity. You cannot simply walk into a place, plop down the amount that's the known going rate, sit back and enjoy. Not even if you've been at the place several times.

In most Hot Toc (hair-stylist BJ) places in Saigon, typically they'll drive a hard bargain at the entrance, then the girl will bargain some more when she starts, try to do a HJ instead of a BJ as much as possible, and take off the bra only when you make her. I often will also pay 2,500 and take the girl to my condo close by. You can get topless lap dances for 100 baht. For the local scene, paying upfront is the norm. If you don't want to pay first, don't take the chance and don't go swim with the local fish. All experiences are YMMV and Thai language skills will get you far. A good change of scenery.

About the Line App. Guys, Line is not a mythical and magical way into a Thai girls pants. It is just their preferred method of contact because it is cheap.
