Posts: 3399How to travel with a Hooker
Hi guys,
Just a post on a trip I am having to highlight some of the risks and rewards of taking a multi day / week trip with a BG.
During my last trip to Sabang I floated the idea to one of the BG's of coming with me on a two week trip to Coron and Alona Beach when I returned to PI. I wanted to know if she would be OK travelling at that time (ie now) or if she would want to stay in Sabang for the busy High Season. She said she was keen to have a holiday and would be fine with skipping work. Obviously I would be covering all expenses She was OK with 10 k peso per week with no additional bar fine payable.
Flights were booked and a couple of emails confirmed meeting points and times when I returned to NAIA.
We flew to Coron and the first few days were pretty uneventful. I went diving every second day and she remained back in the room and provided great service when ever I was back. Unfortunately as the days went by her attitude slowly dropped away. The lack of competition in town lead to her developing a Princess Complex and issuing demands on where we were eating and what we were doing during the day. Needless to say, this pissed me off no end. It got to the point that I actually paid her for the first week and told her to forget about the rest of the holiday. When she realized that she wasn't on a sure thing and that I was fully prepared cut my losses, her attitude immediately changed for the better and profuse excuses and apologies ensued.
I later realized that my choice of location and room had made the situation worse. There is nothing to do in Coron for non divers and our room didn't even have a TV. To make matters worse internet connections (both 3 G and WiFi) were horrendous. Basically she had absolutely nothing to do and no way to chat / message her friends or more importantly maintain business contacts with her boyfriends / other Johns.
When in Coron some other issues that I hadn't considered also popped up:
I should have reminded her not to bring sexy clothes. BG day wear of boob tubes and micro shorts definitely raise eyebrows around a small town.
Having her around killed any opportunity for general catching up or banter with civilians during the day. Other tourists I met and chatted with on the dive boats were very reluctant to sit around and talk with an obvious BG at the table.
The Service was great but after a few days some level of conversation would have been good. I'm not talking solving world hunger but general conversation was pretty much non existent.
We then transferred to Alona / Bohol. It was funny watching her do a junky trying to score impression during the walk / run through town looking to buy Load. She'd been 2 days without connection!! The room here is much better and the place has more facilities so things seem to have settled down and now we are both enjoying ourselves.
In summary, if you are going to take a BG for a holiday:
Pick the destination carefully. Its your cash and time but I've always found that a happier girl leads to better service and generally less stress all round.
Consider how much interaction you want / will have with normal civilians. The more obvious the commercial relationship, the more unlikely you are going to be able to meet or generally chat with other tourists.
How comfortable are you for her to maintain business relationships during the holiday? I'm very upfront with the girl about this not being a BF / GF relationship and am totally OK with her maintaining contacts. I actually find it amusing the various calls to boyfriends expressing undying love one after the other and the language changes as the various time zones come alive. I don't think it's realistic to expect her to drop all contacts for several weeks.
Have a bail out plan and make sure she is aware that you have options should she start to give you the $hits. The girl you know for a night or two in a crowded red light district where you can easily trade her out will not be the same girl after several days in a quiet town where it seems you have no other choice than her.
And most importantly. What do you want from the girl. Decide on this upfront and then choose appropriately. A full on party girl may not be the one to mix with normal tourists nor blend in around town.
Enjoy.

Straight off the bat.
Gensan is "Yer Ole Blue Jeans" type Filipino City.
Country Blues and a hillbilly taint. In addition to Tuna!
"Smell that, son?"
I spent 1/14-3+/14 and 4/15-5+/15 in Gensan with (wife) family plus.
My home base was / shall be Greenleaf Hotel.
Next to "Mannys Gym". Come on, Pac-Man Pacquiao, across from SM General Santos.
Near KCC and Robinsons. ALL the women from Digos to Koronadal to all points navigable.
3 Malls covering countless sq km and countless poor, yet hopeful and upwardly fertile ladies from Puroks a plenty.
Within a sq km.
Well if that square mile or 1000 aren't the safest in the Phils. Including Davao City. It's as close as you get.
Remember, North, East and South and West only to Polomolok.
Nobody screws with Mannys Territory.
Which is all great. Davao to Gensan, Gensan west (Polomolok), Gensan south to Glan or Maasin.
No problem and it's some of the most beautiful scenery you can find.
The entire area is covered. Safe commerce trumps hate.
I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't extend a railway all the way (from proposed CDO-Davao City Line) to Gensan.
It is as perfectly situated a municipality there is in the Phils.
Manny plus geography in aksyon!
Mongering is hit and miss, from my limited yet informed perspective.
Got rides from Calumpang (look it up) to Greenleaf twice a day. Saw all the sites (within the safe zone).
My shots, over 12 weeks; 25+. Total score, 2. One from SM (1200 plus lunch for 4 hrs, a gift from above) and a friend of the family at a b'day party for who knows who I paid for. (she was a throw in. ?
Unbelievably beautiful women.
Takeaway: Gensan is good, as safe as can be, up and coming, nobody messes around.
In any way, to any degree. It is very low key, yet a growing bounty of fine pineapples ripen daily at the malls.
You get what you find, one good bar (was 4 Sisters and is now 4 Sisters and One Brother!. Buzz kill).
No apparent word of mouth. All malling.
Magandang Gensan!
See you in March.

MANILA, Philippines -- Manila police detonated an improvised bomb found Monday in a trash bin near the U.S. Embassy, snarling morning traffic after authorities closed a portion of a major boulevard where the device was found. No one was reported hurt in the incident.

The Philippines has been American colony (as Commonwealth) in the past, English is an official second language, and most Filipinos speak at least some of it, many fluently. Filipinos also have several American-culture feats.
In Thailand this is much less common, but still okay.
Enjoy,
D

I did RTFF but couldn't find much on this topic. Do Philippine girls speak much English? I like at least a little communication, especially for LT. I haven't been anywhere in Asia yet and I'm trying to decided between Thailand and the Philippines.
