I stayed there on my first trip to Medellin last year. I was able to lock it up fairly last minute too. Nice apartment on the 2nd floor. I didn't have the view but I had a huge balcony. The apartment was clean and well maintained. It had a washer / dryer in it. The owner was very helpful and replied to messages quickly. No problem bringing chicas in as long as they had ID and no additional cost. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was too far away from Laureles and Centro which is where I ended up hanging out a lot. On busy traffic days it was like a 30 minute Uber or more.

We are checking in Wednesday the 9th for 6 nights. Looking for a nice 2 bedroom in Laureles close to parque segunda if possible.

I am planning a trip in April. I like the idea of having a secure hotel. I am curious if any of the bigger hotel chains (Marriott or Sheraton) are friendly to girls or is there a way to talk to the front desk Otherwise, any advice is appreciated.

I am also curious the best way to find girls? I have heard a few websites are helpful but are there better ways? If anyone can pass along some contact info I would be very grateful.

I've been thru this before here, and many of the small little stores in the poorer barrios will be selling booze discreetly, however not in Poblado.

Good advice to stock up, I just came back from the store as I was running low on beer and was out of Tequila.

In May of this year for the election of the President there will be another dry weekend.

Like Mother's Day but the Colombians extend it to all women.

Has anyone stayed at Borbon Suites? I found a nice apartment on airbnb and the host says that guests are permitted. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this place? The price is very cheap compared to what is offered so it is almost in the 'too good to be true' category. Reviews seem good.

Thanks for the info, Drifts. I'm heading to MDE this week, determined to give La Isla the best shot I can. But I am curious. What times did you hit up the Centro strip clubs? I've never ventured to Centro. Many of the posts here scare me. LOL. And I do not scare easy. (I often roam the streets in zona norte in Tijuana at 3 AM.) I believe it's just fear of the unknown. I'm clearly gringo. I travel alone. I am a big guy, which is to say a fat ass. I think many mistake my size for muscle. Hahaha So I know that plays in my favor. I'm also very alert. But my biggest concern is leaving a centro bar in the wee hours after drinking.

In your opinion, safe?

The average Colombian male is much smaller than the average American male. And even in groups that stalk, those who look for prey in the wee hours of El Centro look for the weaker, smaller types. With that said, if you are staggering drunk, that can you get you rolled in heartbeat.

Don't venture out late at night with any obvious bulges in your pockets, especially a visible cell phone. You will probably not get injured or killed over a cell phone but they can snatch and grab, and run away before you know what happened.

A lot of it is vibe, attitude and awareness.

Let me share an unbelievable example. My Numero Uno Catgirl and her novia were spending the night with me at The Nutti, a landmark hotel in the heart of El Centro. The time was 2:30 AM, I was getting a double blowjob, and all three of us were pretty fuckin' high on the pink shit. Without warning, Cricket (her novia) bolts up and starts speaking to Catgirl that they need to go deliver some food to her cousin who is a homeless person on the street. Both of these girls are well under five feet tall, and under 100 pounds. See photos.

What happened next was as surreal as anything I saw in the movie Apocalypse Now. They were going to go alone without hesitation, but for protection I offered to accompany them. In hindsight, I may have increased our risk with my presence because I don't blend in. But I am also rarely mistaken for a gringo.

The night was cool and misty. First stop, a 24-hour restaurant across the main road to buy a dinner for take-out. Then we proceeded to walk for about twenty minutes, in the worst direction you can from the Nutibara. Lots of people huddled in circles doing drugs, homeless people everywhere. We reached our destination point and Cricket started approaching strangers and asking for her cousin by name. They would point to another circle of drug users hunched on the ground, smoking I don't know what. After the third group, someone pointed us to a building with a sliding metal door-front. We walked over there and said the girl's name again and a guy leaning against the bricks reached down and tossed the door up and open.

A very small girl, same size as Cricket and Catgirl, came scurrying out like an animal, bent over at the waist. She was dirty, with matted hair, tiny cut-off shorts, barefoot, and a midriff shirt that showed her flat belly. Physically, she appeared to be in good condition. She was cute, just like Catgirl and Cricket. She behaved more like a ferral animal than a human, first circling us and then slowly approaching after she sensed no threat.

She politely took the food in the white plastic bag from Cricket and chatted her up. I reached in my pocket to give her some money, but Catgirl gently and firmly grabbed my wrist and said, "No, don't do it, she will just spend it on drugs."

Just as quickly, she disappeared back into the dark hole of the building and the door slid closed. We walked purposefully but not urgently back to the hotel. We got a lot of glances, but no one hassled us and I never felt threatened.

Take home points: Don't have a visible phone on you or anything that appears valuable. Don't act paranoid, scared, arrogant or stand out any more than you naturally do. As I wrote in the beginning, I believe those two tiny chicas would have been just as safe if not safer without me, at 3 AM, walking the streets in one of the worst sections of El Centro. Looking like a gringo will always increase your risk. Don't go out like we did, unless you are with locals or have a reason worth the risk. Most of the actual crimes are not violent, but if they have a gun, they will shoot you in the face at the slightest resistance, including if you simply say "no". Fun times.

When we got back to our room I felt like I was just in a dream. I was amazed about how safe I felt the entire time. Maybe we were just lucky, but my chicas had no fear and acted as though the entire affair was routine. Mind blown, for the thousandth time in Medellin.

I can see how jacuzzis would be fun as long as you aren't the one who has to clean it.

I found that every girl that came to the apartment wanted to go in the hot tub, many would suggest it themselves but all seemed very happy when I suggested it. The hot tub big enough for 3 (maybe 4, I am a large dude) with a depth of about 3 feet. I enjoyed it a lot YMMV. The water got scolding hot and I almost got burnt once not being careful. The image attached is from the rental website and shows the hot tub in the apartment. I really enjoyed the apartment, I had pretty good budget for this trip so $60 per day was very worthwhile.

Ask the door guy to flag down a taxi for you then get in it as soon as you leave the club. You will be OK. There are usually taxis waiting outside the places once the other business shut down just after 7 PM or so.

The Gringo Inn was hit by armed robbers. I assume they since upgraded their security.

When you wrote "central", I took that to mean central. Poblado is in the south, and Laureles is west. I now understand that you meant centre of tourism.

So, there are a 101 hotels wkith balconies where yiou can bring a chica a day. Just look on booking.com or whatever, and book for 2 pax.

Hotel M. One room has a balcony. KI don't remember the number. But otherwise, you are welcome to smoke out by the pool. It's a converted house, so all is enclosed and safe.
