Yeah, since I was never to the island before I didn't want to risk doing the rental car thing and really screwing up things by getting wayyyy lost or stuck in the wrong neighborhood. Next time I plan to rent a car since I pretty much understand the island now. Rental w/insurance & gas would of cost me around $150. Taxi cost me around $240 including the tip. So the extra $90 was not bad for not having to think on a vacation. I had my own personal taxi driver the whole time. We would make several stops w/ round trip would cost me $40-45 + tip. (I stayed at an Orient Beach property) no big deal. I would tell him he cost more than the pussy.

Great report and excellent first trip. The one thing you did not mention in your evaluation of your trip was that you should have rented a car. Not only would it probably have saved you money on your traveling expenses (cabs vs car) you would not have always been on the clock with your selection process. Also, when you were striking out on night #3 you could have just aborted the mission and either gone back out to the bar to get another chica, or gone to another bar (you never got to try Defiance, Blueberry, or Petite Chateau).
