Thanks for the update Giotto. I'm still planning my trip to Bangkok, for next month. I have signed up for the BKK Marathon and Standard Chartered / National Jogging Association of Thailand is still pushing forward with the run (20Nov11).
Please keep us informed, I'll be hitting you up for room rates soon.
Sincerely
Skeet Mac

OK.
Nobody really wants to give any statement whether it is safe to come to Bangkok right now, or not. Reason is that nobody has ever experienced such a flood, and that we don't want to participate in distributing panic messages or rumors.
My personal opinion:
I followed the news during the past few days very closely, I think I don't have to explain that, I need to do because of my business here (Livingstones Lodge, Soi 33).
Official statements:
- "Bangkok is safe" - now obviously not any more.
- "Don Muang is safe" - and a day later it is flooded.
- etc. etc.
I could add more examples, but that's basically how the information game works right now. The situation is most likely out of control. And nobody can really predict what happens next.
For that I would recommend NOT TO TRAVEL TO BANGKOK RIGHT NOW! .
We definitely encounter:
- a shortage of bottled water in the shops right now, you simply cannot buy water in 7/11 / any shops (there might be exceptions).
- tap water turning yellowish and smelling (not yet in the Sukhumvit area, but confirmed in many other areas of the city).
- an information deficit / disinformation that I have never experienced before.
Guy's. Just stay safe, stay away from Bangkok.
(That was my personal opinion.)

PS: The water level expected for Chao Phraya river this weekend is 2.6 m above normal. The flood walls height is 2.5 m.

For all those who simply think about mongering, here an overview about the impact of the flood to the Thai people:

A video mentioned everywhere. Explaining the flood reasons and impacts:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8zAA...ature=youtu.be
The video is in Thai language, English subtitles.
I watched it, and again - it's unbelievable, what kind of information the Thai people get / need to understand the situation. For all those who think about traveling to Thailand right now (general answer to all the PMs I got today) :
- if you understand this video you have passed the test to find your dick in your pants, therefor you are allowed to travel to Thailand and monger.
- if you encounter difficulties to understand this video you better refrain from traveling to Thailand right now.
- if you have difficulties to find your dick in your pants - it's all up to you. But I don't think that the flooding will help you dealing with this issue.

PS: Thinking about the whale. It's a synonym for a very influential person in Thailand.

Actually a very good overview about the situation per now (26. 10. 2011, 2.02 am):
http://newley.com/2011/10/25/thailan...-scenario-map/
I made a round tour today:
- Soi 3 Arab restaurant, Nana, Lower Sukhumvit.
- Saxophone, Victory Monument.
- Brown Sugar, Lumpini.
- Witch's Tavern, Thong Lor.
- RCA.
- back to Soi 33.
No water anywhere.
But - follow the blog (http://twitter.com//search%23Thaifloodeng). Things can change very fast. The information we get from the government, be it the Thai government or the Bangkok Governor, is confusing and outdated. I don't care whether those people are yellow or red. But what they deliver right now is just disgusting. Shame on them.

I would like to get another room just for playing or even a short time room.
How would I do that in Bangkok?
Is that what you mean Alex?
If so. Yes. It is easy to get a separate room from where you are staying and it could even be for an hour or two, not for all night.

I can't spend the visitor to hotel where I will live.
I am interested in possibility of rent of number in hotel for the night or at some o'clock without excessive delays like a presentation of the passport and.
How much easily it can be made in Bangkok?

PS: Don Muang airport (old airport, now used for domestic flights) starts to be flooded. Nok Air flies from Utapao now ... expect the airport to be closed sooner or later.
