For conversation, I've asked them all which is the worst client by nationality. Uniformly, their answer was black men from the US of A. All these girls are "black" by California standards (although they don't think they are). Anyhow, I was shocked by the uniformity and vehemence of their response. I mean, they expressed some pretty strong, bad, racist feelings. Principle complaints seem to be (and I'm summarizing but in no particular order): they're cheap, cheat or underpay, think they deserve something for free, cum in their face, cum in their hair (!), are rough, grab their head and hair (during a blowjob), sneak the condom off, keep their socks on (imagine!), smell like cigars, get angry and try not to pay if they can't cum, etc, etc. By far the worst, and weirdest from their POV, is trying to cum in their hair ("...and Why? Why would they want to do that. Why? Imagine! In my hair!)

What did I learn from this? 1) The girls spend a lot of time on their hair 2) If you want them to like you, don't cum in their hair.

There are plenty of men across all of mongerdom of all races, creeds, colors, and religions who don't tip these tutes, regardless of what the tutes think and say about it. In fact, here on ISG in the threads that I frequent most (Brazil and German FKKs) tipping is mostly discouraged by the seasoned guys who participate the heaviest in those threads. I tip at restaurants. I tip taxi and uber drivers. I tip my longtime barber who always hooks me up. I tip the ladies who keep the locker rooms clean and in order at the termas in Rio de Janeiro. But, I don't be tipping these tutes! That said I pay well, I pay often, I pay on time, and I pay what's fair after agreed upon services are delivered, and that always keeps them happy and coming back. Again and again and again!

Now, I have never mongered in the DR, but what I know is that Dominican women have a reputation for poor performance and being lazy compared to the women from many other countries. So maybe if you find a good one, then maybe she should be rewarded with a tip. On the other hand, why tip someone just because she performed at a minimally acceptable standard that she should have anyway? At the end of the day, none of it matters to me. I know how to do it in the two places I love the most for mongering, Brazil and Germany, and in those places tipping is neither required nor expected to receive great service. And that's how I like it. Everyone is happy. Tutes. Mongers. Everybody.

Laying here thinking back, even though I have never been to the DR, I have run into Dominican tutes in other places where I have mongered, namely in Costa Rica and Spain. Generally speaking, I have not been attracted to them and have found them to be "pushy" and "overbearing", not wanting to take "no" for an answer. I only recall going with one. So there is this individual that has challenged us to research the history of tipping. But did they do their own research? They stated that tipping was a "dumb American thing". But that is not how it started out. Modern tipping by customers in the United States and Europe used to be reversed; before the 20th century, tipping the the USA Was frowned upon and deemed rude, while it was standard in Europe. Pretty much up to the point it was abolished in the mid-1800's.

Americans didn't like tipping when they traveled to Europe during this time period. Before the 19th century, the US Hospitality industry saw no apparent need for tipping as a practice. Mid 1800's according to my research.

So, the individual who thinks that it was around the Great Depression that the tipping thing started, well history does not support this assertion. There is actually a very ugly history in the United States of America as to why things changed when it came to tipping and it has nothing to due with the Great Depression. 13th amendment to the USA Constitution comes to mind.

What did happen is that in some 1938 legislation, employers were only required to pay tipped workers a wage that would add up to the federal minimum wage when combined with tips. So the federal government is the entity that codified this practice into law within the United States of America. It had nothing to do with tricking the American consumer.

In the United States of America how do you decide to tip? It really should be up to the individual giving the tip. And it should be a bonus on top of the wage the employee receives. But in reality given the federal law of the United States of America and the individual states, that is not the way it happens.

But, I guess everyone needs a reminder that this is the Sosua forum. And Sosua is in the Dominican Republic not the United States of America. When I first moved to the Dominican Republic I asked a server I pulled out of a restaurant working on the Boca Chica strip (posted about it in the Boca Chica forum) about tips. Her attitude was that a tip (propina in Spanish) was a true gift. Not an obligation.

How do I decide to tip? Low paid server workers who provide a personal service that pleases me. Using that criteria, I tip the individual who cleans my room, I tip on top of the LEY if I get good service. 10 percent. I'll give money to someone in the damn street if I need some information and they give it to me straight. I tip the baggers in the store even if I am going to carry my own bags out. I tip more if they carry them out for me. The Dominican Republic is a hustling culture. If you don't like that mentality, don't come here.

So how should you tip your Prostitutes? Highly paid prostitutes should not be getting tips. I consider high payment in Sosua to be a rate of hourly pay significantly higher than the average rate on the street. So, personally I take a page out of Grownman's book and offer 500 DOP less than I am actually willing to pay so that if I receive good service I can tip that amount. But when I had my what Oakie would call "High Class Chica" 300 USD two hour appointment in Santo Domingo, I didn't tip her. Even though the service was excellent. She was well compensated and in my mind did not quality for a for a tip.

Having trouble figuring out who to tip and how much in this time of information overload. ? Simply do your research for each country you plan to travel to. This is not brain surgery.

That's funny. I'm black. I've mongered in DR, Germany, Amsterdam, Thailand, Dubai, US, Czech, etc.

Zero of these women gave a damn about tipping. How do I know? Because I've repeated many of them on several occasions and they have given me their contact number / social media for future interactions. If they cared about tipping, and they know I'm not going to tip, they have no reason to see me again. I agree. We all came on the same passage, just on different boats and landed in different countries. Caribbeans, black Americans, Brazilians, Cubans, Haitians, etc. all apart of the African diaspora.

A Dominican woman will post a picture of their parent or grandparent, or kids, and many of them are darker than a Haitian. Their blackness is self evident.

Tipping is a dumb American thing. Research the history of it. I think it was around the Great Depression that restaurant owners found a way to trick American customers into paying their staff, instead of the owners paying them themselves.

Most cultures pay the price of what something costs. Why do Americans feel the need to pay more than what something costs? Because they have been trained that way.

And how do you decide who to tip? You tip the waiter but not the cook? You tip the cab driver, but not the bus driver or the pilot? You tip the concierge, but not the desk clerk? You tip the barber, but not the dentist or doctor?

When an American is in Brazil should they tip the elevator operator? Some Americans tip the doorman at the temporary apartment they are staying in in other countries. You think the locals that actually live in those places are tipping those guys?

As usual you've provided a thoughtful response. I agree that the American tipping culture is confusing and can only say that I tip for certain professional services and tip more when the service is above normal or I plan to return (or see them again). I regularly migrate between Chicago and S. Florida during the winter and even notice here how the Uber Eats and Door Dash drivers are surprised when I tip (only slightly more than the delivery fee), whereas in Chicago it was expected. For mongering I make it know that I'll pay a certain base amount, but add a generous propina for a 'good girlfriend / novia' experience and that nearly always seems to incentive a better performance than a straight up price.

Live and learn I guess. I can afford to do it and sometimes the extra $5 here or 10-40 k in Colombia can really brighten their day.

Often the realtors get a bouquet of flowers or an expensive bottle of wine as a gift if the customer is pleased. Often Lawyers ask for a bonus of $$ when they are close to winning the case and the client has some incentive to get a little better. Probably its not ethical, but I have heard of lawyers getting paid bonuses for performance above what the client expects.

Not required, but it does happen.

I always put -0- on the credit card machine when it asks for a tip, because often no extra service has been provided. At a restaurant, if I go there regularly, it is difficult not to pay the customary 15% tip, it is expected.
