Try OsmAnd for android smart phones. Very helpful in the provinces and free. Though I think I was still searching in cyrillic, which helps.

Nice to be on the forum, privjet all,

I have been living here for a year now and I must say a lot has changed since my first visit in 2000, With my first anniversary of living in Moscow and some knowledge of I thought I'd register to put my thoughts down and contribute a bit.

Unlike some I'm not too pessimistic about the bar scene. I have been trying out bar / clubs, a couple of good ones where tipped here. I Didn't know Old School Pub for instance. Quite an amusing place although like in most places the music is shitty. That pretty much goes for all bars actually.

Some places I have not been seeing a lot I want to share with you.

Craisy Daisy is a good place for student type girls, quite a young crowd but I met a stunning girl there in leather pants. The bar is Coyote Ugly style but this leather pants girls also took the bar with her friends. So a loose athmosphere there. Some 300rub admission on the weekend.

Crisis Zjanra is decent if you would be looking for not the typical high heel moscow girls. Bit on the alternative side and decent live performances (by bands, not pole dancers.)

Another place I visit is klava club. Small place, not actually a club, more a bar but things can get pretty hot in there. Worth a check.

I will be posting more about the bar scene if I found some decent ones again.

I am coming to Moscow and looking for a bar that has expats to hang out with and a stock of girls to choose from. I know about Night Flight but looking for something less obvious and a bit less expensive than $500 / night.

After more than a week in Moscow, my journey has come to an end. What I could say about Moscow, it's a nice metropolis, if you understand Cyrillic is even better, unfortunately I'm not fluent at all, but I could find my way. I was more focus in hookers this time, the first hooker introduced me another nice devushka who is very seldom in night flight. But both girls offering me a good service, no complaints at all, it was GF experience. I spent less time trying to develop some friendship with some Moscow girls, it will turn out in something I'm pretty sure about that. For whom live in Scandinavia I found reasonable prices even in nice restaurants.

Partying in Moscow is delightful, I went to parties even on Wednesday. Moscow girls are just beautiful, they are gracious and very feminine despite the cold weather.

Well right now I'm planning my second trip, which will be in February to meet new devushkas and keep up the other ones. So looking forward.

I was at Che bar yesterday, didn't expect much about the place, but what a surprise, the place was packed of people, beautiful devushkas dancing. At some point of the night, I saw few working girls, I got confused with one, well dressed, blond devushka and asked her, if she was working, she smiled to me and said not. I could have taken some working girls who were teasing me, but decided to drink and dance with the civilians, trying to get some numbers but my Russian is very poor. All in all, nice mood for Wednesday, and looking forward for weekend.

Rosetta Stone with a good verb book is dollar for dollar the best if you want to learn Russian. Don't go into a Russian class green, it's expensive and you will learn little.

Fortunately where I am living the Russian classes are government subsidized and cheap. Can learn much more than Rosetta stone and get a very good explanation of Russian grammar and spelling / pronunciation rules. I at one time did some practice with Rosetta Stone for other languages but found it only serves to extend vocabulary. Nothing can make up for being tied down for 3 hours at one time and forced to listen to a language and take part. I finally understood why the 'o' become an 'a' and cases. Sure, one can just be understood in nominative case but impress with using the correct case.

But it isn't really the same. In London and France I would have zero shot at some of these girls no matter how much work you put into it. In Moscow it is a lot of work but it is realistic. A young, attractive girl in France wouldn't be caught dead dating a man twice her age unless he was good looking or rich. In Moscow it seems that being attentive and treating them well can be enough.

I think the same about the girls in Russia. Back where I am originally from, putting in that much effort is generally anti-productive, girls think differently, and not unfamiliar with this behavior but in Russia that behavior can make up for looks and money. It could well be the first time they have been treated like that if they have never come across a foreigner before.

I also think for the pessimists out there, you have to be not scared to be turned down (or too emotionally attached) and just give it a crack. It definitely suits the calculated bastard who can have 3 to 4 girls at one time and as they are weeded out, replaced.
