Paid a visit to Siglo XXI yesterday around 10 pm. I forgot what a huge place it is. Not many customers when I went in but did fill up a bit before I left soon after 12.

I wasn't really impressed. To start with after tipping my waiter after the first round, every drink I bought afterwards was an effort to get my change. Maybe he thought I was stupid or drunk but at one stage he gave me 2 x 10 k instead of 2 x20 k in cgange from a 50. No apology when I pointed out the error, just grudgingly handed over another 20. The waiter I had last year recognized me and he was great so if I go again will try and sit at one of his tables.

Regarding the girls / women. There were plenty in attendance but most were overweight and / or silicone enhanced. There were a few slimmer ones but nothing that really appealed. I do quite like it that the girls don't tend to approach you and only had to tell one I wasn't interested. I am quite partial to Afro-Caribbean girls but there were only 3 and all pretty fat.

I only saw 2 strippers, neither of which were that great and the first one was just starting a second turn when I left.

I might give it another go be on Saturday if I am in the mood.

Pley Club was a rip off last year but I might poke my head in there again to see if it has improved.

In Barranquilla taxis don't have meters! You should agree a price before you start the trip. The minimum for short trips in the city is 6 k (or was it 7? From the airport it's 25 k or 30 k depending how far north you go. The prices are listed at a booth in the baggage claim hall and you can prepay your taxi there.

In Barranquilla for Carnival. Arriving a few days beforehand. Any updates on what's good in town. I was there during Carnival last year and had a few good nights in Siglo XX1. Other experiences. Club across from Siglo XX1, strip club in centre of town and one casa I tried (not sure but think it was called Relax or something similar, were disappointing.

I can tell you all about the casas, and I've taken it on myself to do the research and publish here. But I'm not into bars and strip clubs. It sounds like it's the other way around for you, so I suggest you take it on yourself to research the night time options and publish your findings here. Most of the places are on the map, you just need to go there and take notes. Saying you had a good time at Siglo XXI is a start, but it's a bit thin as far as reports go.

To prove the point that I don't do well at bars, here's a report.

The other night I went to La Hoja bar, Carrera 44 #72-243, right next to well-known salsa bar La Troja (7 pm-3 am, Mon closed).

Cover was 5 k which was consumable as one beer. A dozen girls and far fewer guys. Saw one good-looking girl, tall, fake blonde with a tight body, I ignored the tattoos. I made eye contact and she came sat with me. She asked me to buy her a drink, and I said I'd buy her a beer. She chose a Corona, most expensive beer at 10 k, I let it pass. Made some shallow small talk, and danced salsa for a minute. She asked if I wanted to go upstairs. I asked how she kisses, and she said she could't kiss here but she would in the room. I had heard that one before, so didn't really believe it. I asked how much, she said 100 k (80 k for her and 20 k for the room). I asked if that's for an hour, she said half hour. I wasn't sure about this, but I agreed, not seeing any other options that night, and I'd only be getting more tired. YOLO, I thought. In the room she asked if I like to do coke. No. If I would buy some for her. No. I couldn't see how her doing coke would improve the vibe. Then she tried to boss me around. Sit there, lay back, let me put on the condom. This is not good, so I decided to push back: you sit there, I put on my condom, I touch you how I like. I had to be firm, but it got her compliant, at least a little bit. Then she says, kissing costs extra. Well fuck that, no way, but at least her body was cute and I could kiss her tits. So there you go, if this is the kind of service you enjoy, go look for it in SantaFe. Me, I'd rather be in Barranquilla where I can have sweet GFE every day.
