Hi all,

First ever post, so please treat me gently.

Quick question. I read that Mercure Jakarta Kota is girl friendly but what are the practicalties? Can she walk right through the lobby and into an elevator without being challenged?

The wilder side of this trip.

On the first night after we reached Jakarta, I brought my friend to CJ since he had never visited the place. Interesting.

After just two rounds of drink, Girl-1 wanted to go to Crown, since Siera does not have any ecstasy. At first I was hesitant given the last bad experience that I had, and told her that if we are to go, she needs to be my "Wing Lady", LOL.

I walk in without paying any entry fee and not being search by security guard. I step out to hangout with the staff and to have a smoke in middle of night even without settling the bills. I know some of the mamas and they knows my taste. I don't get harassed by any mama either to take a girl as I walk in. Even some tor the waitress knows what beer I like and when to get a refill. I respect them and treat them well and tip them well and that goes a long way.

When you are "talking to Mama", that is a negotiation to, for all intensive purposes, pay her bar fine. If you are pulling the girl near closing time (1 or 2 am), it is cheaper than earlier in the day / night. But you still have to pay around 1. 6 million rupiah even talking to the mama that late at night if you want the girl to stay with you in your room until morning. The mama has to clear it with the manager as well, it's not just her you are negotiating with. Places like Hotel Classic basically own these girls. (again, read Offshore swell's post).

The chance of the girl stopping by your room right before work for a "fresh catch of the day" sexual romp is slim and none due to the reasons mentioned in Offshore Swell's post. They control those girls completely, no way are they going to allow that.

All the hotel rooms are on Second and Third floor of the hotel side. I've stayed the 2 x in a standard room with breakfast and it's decent for the price. Hot water, TV, In room safe pretty much everything standard amenities wise. Come is book smoking and. On smoking rooms as they advertise but I'm sure all of them are smoking allowed.

Business Standard rooms are bit larger in size compared to a standard and comes with a couch. Price wise. Almost 2 x the price of the standard room unless you have good negotiation skills and get lucky. I think they only have 4 of this type room.

VIP rooms are the largest type of room and much more space. Living room area is 2 steps higher than bedroom area. Even though it's the same room. Comes with larger sofa and I believe one room has balcony. Price wise higher than business standard type room. I believe I was quoted. 875 mill but can't recall my memory well as that was 2 years ago.

Best thing I like about staying in Classic hotel is, you are steps away from the entertainment complex and can order in room massage from the hotel reception for 100 thousand IDR and hour which was decent. You Can always negotiate extra.

How much is the VIP rooms at Classic?

And is it for the classic place on second floor or the top floor?

Not saying each and every one of them is a scamming cry wolf but 90% are. I use Grab and never had any issues. Friend of mine who lives in Bandung now, used to live In Jakarta and drive Grab in Jakarta before, told me all the stories he heard from Taxi drivers of scamming people, specially expats / tourist.

Apparently it's their snack time entertainment stories, so don't let them take advantage of your good will.

I've only had 2 taxi drivers do that, but like you, my heart did not flinch and I gave them nothing. I have given many girls "extra" money over the years though. I never donate to any proper charities, but I do consider myself to be quite the philanthropist. I will be going to Heaven without a doubt as I have done my part in helping these young girls.
