Never go near the Marin, San Blas, or la Tola, the zones in center Quito this somehow away from casas, but all the crime in Quito come from them, that where the Quito Don (which was a woman, named Mamá Lucha), used to organize thugs, I made the vow to never enter there again, after sawing a junkie broke his skull hiting the concrete floor of the street, in la MArin, avoid this place anytime.

In the south, avoid La feroviaria and La libertad, the people there just steals you with the eyes.

Well in Quito the crime rate is normal, as any big in the world so I hope this don't scare you from coming, but in Guayaquil, as you can see in the board the crime rate is higher. But there exist the richest and poorer people in Ecaudor, there are nice casas, with high class chica but the prices may double Quito, (In Guayaquil some rich people feel good to pay overpriced things), and the reports from friends which go to low priced casas are almost nightmarish, so if you wanna have a good time in that city be warned to pay a lot of money.

Alrighty. As my activities have largely shifted from the day casas of central to the nightclubs of far south/north I find myself with more time to write during the day. So I am going to take the time to answer some general questions about Quito. Honestly most of the answers are on the board already. I think it was Crypton who replied to one poster some time ago along the lines of: “read the board, that’s what it is here for.” But I will summarize my personal replies to private messages and my personal experiences in Quito in this post.

1. Question: seems you are basically doing short time intervals on premises at these places -- do you know if there are take-out options to go back to your place for a longer time or all night?

Answer: The only girl I have ever asked about the option of take-out is Camilla (post 221 for pictures). She quoted me 3 hours for $100, 6 hours for $200, etc. I did not inquire if there is a casa departure fee. The house-guy was standing right there and he did not pipe in to mention one. If there was one to get around it just wait till 9pm when the casa closes and she can leave with you. (She did ask me to come to a disco one Thursday night with one of her girlfriends, but I thought the alcohol bill would be so outrageous I declined.) For more on this possibility read question 2.

2. Question: Are there girlfriend possibilities with the chicas in the casas and clubs?

Answer: Fuck yes. Every second girl I have been with has given me her phone number without my asking for it. Had I wanted the other girls’ numbers I am sure all I had to do was ask. Quito reminds me of the Eddy Murphy Delirious video when he says he is in his sexual prime and has pussy falling out of his pockets. 3. Question: can you recommend a hotel?

Answer: The usual high end options are applicable in Quito if you want to pay $50 to $100 a night (or whatever they cost). For me this option is ridiculous. In the almost four months I have been in Quito I have stayed in Gringolandia -- i.e., the Marsical Sucre district. There are dozens and dozens and dozens of cheap hotels here, along with good restaurants (ranging from $2 to $15 per meal), lots of ABMs, lots of internet terminals (50 cents to $1 per hour), public transport on main streets all around (to get you to your fuckclub/casa of choice), and nightclubs/discos should you want to try to pick up locals. Within a few blocks there is little you cannot find here. It is the perfect, user-friendly base from which to conduct mongering operations.

I myself have never paid more than $12 per night for a hotel. For the first two months I was staying in a large empty dormitory with its own bathroom/shower for $5.50 a night. Then I moved over to a $12 option while I dated a casa-chica so she could stay overnight with me. Once I divorced her I moved into a $5 room with private bathroom/shower ... and this is where I currently reside, a mere twenty meters from the heart of Gringolandia. All three of my hotels/hostels have been family owned/operated. The current $5 option I stay in has its own private entrance so if I choose to I can bring a girl back to my pad for the night.

In scouting for nice, secure places to stay I have literally walked into some 30-plus hotels and hostels in this small area. There are some really nice, spotless options for $15 and $20 a night (private bathroom/shower, tv, double bed, etc.) These places come with a 24-hour receptionist (ring a buzzer for entrance), high steel gates for casa protection and security.

When I checked into the $12 hotel I made sure the family owners understood I wanted the room for two, my ‘girlfriend’ and I. She would show up every other night (with me) and they had no trouble with her presence. I suspect they might have trouble with me bringing back multiple (different) chicas though. Other places might be different.

Where are these $5 to $10 to $15 to $20 hotel options? Rather than me walking around Marsical getting names, addresses, telephone numbers (really boring), go to your nearest bookstore or public library and pick up a copy of the latest Lonely Planet Ecuador. You get a preliminary orientation of the city -- in particular district Marsical Sucre, tourist things to do, how to get to and from the airport / bus station, and dozens of hotel recommendations in different parts of the city. The book should cost you no more than $30 or $40. Or if you are a really cheap bastardo go to the public library and make photocopies of the maps and hotel sections of the guidebook.

Lastly, there are lots of chica-friendly hotels in the area of Gringolandia and along Av. America. One option on Av America I used for some time was Hostel Yalconia (432 Asuncion y America, tele 2227 223, 2230 407) for $12 a night (checked out about 1pm) or $8 for a lesser time. Another option was just a few blocks down from Gringolandia. I forget the name. One I do remember very close to Gingolandia again is Hotel Lafayette, where the streetgirls take you ($5 for two hours; I imagine it would be only $10 to $15 for all night). If you can't find one by yourself just ask the girl. She might play dumb for a few minutes but she will eventually mutter something. It's her job to know!

4. Question: I do not speak Spanish. Is this a problem?

Answer: I do not speak Spanish. Does it look like I am having problems?! lol. Seriously though before I hit the Spanish speaking world I did not take a single lesson in its language. Everything I know I have picked up along the way. Obviously I am getting better as I go along, picking up more words and expanding my vocabulary.

After years of personal travel through many countries (not to monger but as a backpacker) I have developed an inherent street sense of what phrases I need to learn first, particularly how to ask “How much (money) ?” and the numbers, then expand from there. I do have a small Spanish-English / English-Spanish dictionary and another phrasebook in my hotel. Some days I take the dictionary with me in my coat (chest) pocket to clubs, along with paper and pen, should I feel like practicing with a chica (and to get to know her better).

As a solo traveller I rather like sticking to myself so I can think and hear my own thoughts and do my own thing -- to be as whimsical as I please. Conversation and comradery is not a high priority for me. In China, without speaking much of the local language, I used to go weeks without speaking any English. With the ISG board as basically a non-personal means of expression and information sharing (with option to become personally acquainted with members), I personally find groups more frustrating than liberating, like every decision has to be approved by a committee before an action can be done. But this is me: someone who has trained himself over the years to be fiercely independent and self-sustaining for long periods of time (multi-year travels) in the midst of foreign cultures.

By contrast, if you are a social person you will probably find not speaking any Spanish to be quite limiting in your interactions with locals here. As English speakers are few and far between this may contribute to one’s feelings of isolation and alienation and, quite simply, put a damper on your party.

5. Question: is it dangerous in Quito?

Answer: I have black hair, brown eyes and tan easy. I wear no jewellry, no watch, no flashy (but still nice) clothes. On my belt is a $450 digital camera (in soft case) and a small bottle of dog pepper-spray ($10-$15 in any N.American outdoors store). Underneath my pants is a waist money belt (matching the color of my pants to blend so I can access it without being seen). I wear a light, breathable jacket to cover over my camera and pepper spray. I am slender and in excellent physical condition (legs & cardiovascular; upper body is lacking in strength). I wear nothing but anti-color black.

I never carry more than $80 with me on any given night. In my money belt I also carry my passport (or copy of main page & Ecuador visa) because casa guards and cops (when they raid a place) ask for it, a backup camera battery, extra memory card, lens cleaning cloths. I cut maps out of guidebooks so I don't have to carry the full bulk of the book. I do NOT carry handbags, small backpacks or anything else I cannot carry in my pockets discreetly. The more you carry, the flashier you look, the more you are asking to be taken to the cleaners because (a) increased bulk leads to slower reaction time, (b) increased baggage, flash and color draws more attention.

Everybody thinks I am a local -- or, if they do find me foreign they think I am from Argentina (sometimes Brazil or Chile). They may look at me in curiousity for a few minutes but soon move their gazes back to their beers and elephant-assed chicas.

For the amount of time I have spent here I tend to think the trouble I have experienced has been minimal. With the sole exception of a taxi driver (I refused to pay) I have had no trouble on the streets in my almost four months in Quito. No one has flashed a knife, a gun or other weapon on me. I have lost more money on lame chica performances in the sack than I have by street robbery ($0).

As a result of my excellent ability to ‘blend in’ I have gone to every club and casa by myself, never with another person. I feel more vulnerable with someone else beside me, unable to make instant flexible decisions when necessary.

When I walk down a street I always take the outside of the sidewalk. At night if there is a group of males approaching I often cross the street. Walking down street Colon (or similar avenue) at night I walk the median (divider) rather than the sidewalks as it gives me a commanding view of both sides of the street. Being travel-trained when I pass a male (or group of males) I always, always do a couple shoulder-checks to make sure he (they) are still walking.

If you have blonde hair, blue eyes and pale white skin your street experience might be a lot different than mine. I have years of travel experience in much more foreign cultural environments than Quito. If you do not have such experience, again your life on the street might be a lot different than mine.

To get a good scope of ‘the danger(s) of Quito’ all I can say is: read the board. I cannot reply for other posters. Only they can -- and many of them have. Read through their posts.

Brief side note: The only robbery I have ever seen with my own two eyes in Quito came three nights ago when I saw a streetwalker being roughed up by three (large) guys on street Amazonas. They slammed her into a shop wall, took her purse and ran away. As a streetwalker, unfortunate to say, I think she is particularly vulnerable to this kind of treatment as her job is to approach males not run away from them.

6. Question: is Quito packed with sex tourists? Do you see any increase of that sort?

Answer: Other than the very odd guy I see in Cafe Rojo, Guajira -- i.e., the well known places in central -- I never see tourists in the other places. But the only way I can define tourist is if they stand out somewhat from the locals. As Ezinho keeps pounding away, and as the number of posts on this board reveal, foreign mongerers are few and far between in Quito. The clubs and casas are dominated by the local male crowds. Hence the dozens of places with $7 price tags -- an amount the locals can afford.

7. Question: Do the girls allow anal and/or facials?

Answer: For the right amount of cash I think anything is possible. But the negotiating is solely between you and your chica. Some of the girls, however, obviously will not as they are not comfortable with these options.

Some of the girls I am with will not allow even a single photograph, never mind having their backends poked and/or faces sprayed. Well rested and ready for action I bussed into south Quito. Had a couple beers in the La Luna complex then moved on to Condorito Bar for a beer. Looking at the results it appears that 3 Star (Coyote Ugly) is my favorite club with its remarkably petite and pretty chica selection (over time). I have bedded 7 chicas here. Touch Me comes in second with 5 chicas. Back in the early days 270 La Nina (very early days) and Cheers were favorites with 4 chicas each. I have been to 270 La Nina once since mid-May. Of the 19 clubs in South Quito that we know of I have creamed 9 chicas.

By this measure Central's clubs and casas are my favorite by a large margin. In the north I did a lot of walking and spending for minimal results. In the south, where I am currently engaged in exploring, I have found significantly more sweet pussy to fuck than in the north.

Well, well, well, it looks like the excellent reporting and photos by Tungurahua have awakened an interest in some new posters to this thread. And to think when I first posted on here in early January, it was the first post in over 2 months! It will be interesting to watch the Ecuador section over the next year or so and see how many more reports and photos are added to this thread. I'm curious to see if Quito becomes the next Medellin, but I don't believe it will, for two reasons. Let me include some posts from other members to make my points:

Think twice about going if you don't know any Spanish. It can be dangerous down there.

Although I think this statement is a bit over-the-top (perhaps Willy is just trying to scare newbies away?) he makes a good point. Quito is not "user friendly" like other mongering destinations are. There is no Medellin Mansion type of establishment in Quito. Most of the casas are spread out all over the city, and there is no Metro like in some other cities in South America (the Trolé is ok, but no substitute). The taxistas can be a hassle to deal with (just ask Tung!) although that could be said for many places in South America. And although you don't need to know Spanish, it helps greatly; most people outside of Gringolandia speak little to no English.
And one final point regarding the hygene of the cheap casas that Tung has been visiting; I may get flamed for this but here goes: I highly doubt that the average ISG member would tolerate the shithole conditions of the rooms in the casas. You really need to have a strong will (and stomach!) to get it on in some of those rooms! If you only have one week of vacation, I don't think you'd want to put up with that...

At this point I could hit VIP 3 Star but I am really not in the mood for Vivian. Home. That was a boring as fuck evening. But such are the potential downsides of exploration. Chalk up $20 in expenses for some R&D.

This is a great quote by Tung because it shows how unreliable the quality of chicas can be in Quito.
