As stated before, the mall is open and back in action. The entire Metro store is closed, all floors from the basement to the fifth floor. From the outside you can see the extensive fire damage. To think that a proper working fire sprinkler system would have contained the fire to a few hundred square feet!

Are you the same guy that befriended me in Phnom Penh some years ago? If so, good to see you here in ISG and glad you had fun in Cebu.

Thanks to the regular members here who provided me with some useful information prior to my first visit to Cebu. I stayed in the Quest Hotel, directly across from Ayala Mall. Got to enjoy that mall, including a nice coffee to scope things out at Bo's Coffee, for just one day before all the excitement began about 10:15 pm on my second day there. That fire turned out to be a pretty big deal. Rumors are that it was a "friction fire". Oh well, it resulted in at least two full nights of siren serenades as every fire truck in Cebu province came and went regularly.
Fortunately, I met two lovelies on Pina Love and Filipino Cupid -- and one dud. In fact, I was overwhelmed by choices. Only one of the the three (the dud) even mentioned money.
All in all a nice visit. I'd rather not have the fire experience, however.

I've heard from more than a few people (one of which works in Ayala) that it is set to reopen today. I hope it is true because the area in general has been a ghost town despite it being Sinulog festival. I visited Mango last night and was surprised at how much they have cleaned it up in the last few months. A couple new restos and newly renovated 7-11. The quality of the freelancers also appears to have gone up and far fewer ladyboys. Perhaps some women are traveling here for festival and looking to earn a little extra on the side.

So a few people I know who are the breadwinner are very worried now if this continues a few more days and the mall does not open.

Some pictures of the mall as looks bad on the inside also so seems it will take some time before my 'office' may open sadly.
