Someone mentioned there are 9's in New Life, definitely tempting to go there, but I read that the Centro casas are mostly dirty places. I would not necessarily say the places are dirty. I would just say that some are more older or run down than others. Every one that I have been to somebody changes the sheets and cleans the room after each session. I reported (I think) last month that in chicaspunto it was the girls who had to do this themselves; they doubled as the janitorial staff for their $7 cut of the session.

There have been showers in every casa that I have gone through. But you are worrying about the cleanliness of the place and not worried about sticking your johnson into a total stranger? Terrible disease for pregnant woman, for the rest of us I wouldn't loose a lot of sleep. Many people infected never even have symptoms. I think you are more likely to be killed in a robbery than die from this, though the risk from both is very low.

I came home with something flu like from Bangkok in the late 90's that landed me in the hospital. My blood was sent to the CDC but they never isolated it. Several awful days and then a couple of weeks to get back on my feet. Got dengue in Brazil over 10 years ago. Really sucked, but I got better.

Add in that I saw very few mosquitoes in MDE due to altitude, I think I got one bite all week. In a week in Rio I'd have used a whole tube of steroid cream.
