I completely agree. I think there are a few dynamics at play that contribute to the grey zone and many Paisas being ok with money for sex or gifts.

1) They have more traditional gender roles and dynamics than in the US or Europe and the idea that men are providers is a strong one. I see memes about this all the time on Facebook. A common one is that they are alergic to cheap men or that a good boyfriend gives money for hair, nails etc.

3) Ultimately there is a huge financial and power disparity that should be recognized between the average Colombiana and foriegner.
