The nightclubs in the outskirts of Damascus.
One (in)famous area is called Dreej. Leaving Damascus to the North heading towards Sednaya the driver would arrive to a village (or is it even a city?) named Maaraba. From here the road leading westwards from this settlement has to be followed. After short time the (mongering) traveler will find himself in a hilly desert landscape known to the locals as Dreej. Many heavily lit clubs on either side of the road, the most of them are on the right hand if heading west. They call them “casinos”.

Checked some of them and chosed eventually the somewhat more attractive building. 20-30 young, all with no exception Arab girls, mostly from Iraq, were roaming in circles on a dance floor at mind blowing loud traditional Gulf beats. A lot of them were extremely pretty. The guests are exclusively Gulf Arabs as all of these establishments are Gulf investments as well. Men drink, smoke water-pipe and watch at the girls in their generousily cut long dresses. If some man likes a babe he has to give her a signal and she comes to his table to have a chat and exchange the mobile numbers. Everything else happens on the next day. Usually they get connected by phone and afterwards the girl visits him at his place.

It’s an interesting scenery and I enjoyed it getting heavily drunk on two 0.5l bottles of araq, ie the local anise flavoured spirit; it was that Syrian brand with the black label (pun not intended). Returned the next evening, same place. Got in touch with a stunning blonde (of course dyed) who allegedly was a Lebanese from Beirut and who went by the name Samah. Exchanged the basic information and the mobile numbers after which she asked for 500 SYP as a kind of deposit and a guarantee that I’d be seriously interested in meeting her the other day. She lead me to a room and asked me to take a seat on a matress which layed on the plain ground. The “brother” disappeared into the kitchen. After exchanging pleasantries and enjoying the Arab hospitality including the mandatory cardamom flavoured coffee I expressed the desire to get somewhat closer to her. But she insisted on keeping the door open, allegedly because of her “brother”. At that stage I was really horny and wanted to screw her hard. But that shouldn’t be the case. She asked for another 500 SYP which I paid immediately hoping to get laid with that voluptuos babe as soon as possible. No way. She suggested to visit me at my place another day and promised to fully satisfy me then. Decided to put an end to this non-sense, told her we would stay in touch by phone and left the place. Four Seasons Hotel
The only potential pick up point is the cigar lounge on the ground floor. Some hotties to be seen, hard to distinguish who of them was for business as they sat in groups with other guys aroun them. Witnessed youngish high society people enjoying themselves as Damascus lacks classy locations to go out. Saw in a corner two stunners both dressed in red suits sitting with a young guy at a table. Meridien Hotel
The bar lounge offered some local and CIS talent. Plenty of fat and ugly birds, few hotties to be seen. Lots of stern male persons ogling around. They either belonged to the privileged of the totalitary regime or to the ubiquitous Mukhabarat, ie intelligence agency. The ridiculous high rates of these bitches include the additional incomes of a whole bunch of secret police bastards as it’s obvious that they are in cahoots with the pimps. An older and heavily made-up CIS approached two brits asking them straightforward in a heavy Russian accent “You want sex?”. Their succint answer: “Upstairs or downstairs?”. Sheraton Hotel
Definitely the place to go in Damascus. The nightclub cum bar called “Rumours” is situated on the groundfloor which is the actually pick up area on the premises. Here again, you pay simultaneously a complete network of persons who control, are engaged or related to the trade. Guests are exclusively men; the female attendance is made up by prostitutes only. No local would visit this club with his girlfriend or wife. Definitely amazing Arab music and excellent parties especially on Thursdays. The babes are mostly from Syria (of course, where else from?), Morocco (big bunch including the pimps), Eastern Europe and CIS. Men have to undertake the first step; ladies never approach somebody, they expect to be “checked up”.

Noticed a smoking hot cutie with long black hair to the ass. Gave her a signal and she introduced herself as Rawa from Morocco. She tried to upsell some expensive drinks, anyway being the hottest chick on the floor I didn’t want to lose the opportunity to screw her and ended up buying a bottle Moët & Chandon. I noticed many sluts covered with abaya (a whole-body black cape) and headscarf. They obviously cater for the Gulf bunch. These camelboys seem to get shocked and rather disgusted and even offended at the sight of a naked woman; on the other hand they are pretty turned on at the sight of such disguised birds. Are they actually mentally sick? Interesting observations.

For a full menu including a 0.5l Black Label (the real one) bottle, water, coffee, waterpipe and tip I paid 4k SYP. Around 5am I moved towards exit in order to take the taxi back to Damascus. Was approached by a sympathetic young guy who introduced himself as Kurdish from North-Iraq living in Sweden. He asked me if I were Swedish. I’m not. Anyway he wanted to know if I enjoyed the place and asked me why I’d leave alone. After telling him my disappointment he offered to intermediate and suggested two attractive chicks. Well, I spent some time at Sheraton's club. Interesting place, quite pretty girls. It doesn't really invite to mingle as you are being seated in a seat and seem to need the "luck" the get a girl seated next to you. So I got stuck between two guys, meaning it is a bit harder to get into a meaningful conversation with a girl. And even if a girl is seated next to you, it seems like you are not going to get much choice outside what you already got.

I recently made a first time trip to Damascus.

The two venues I checked out were Dedeman (used to be Le Meridien) hotel and Sheraton hotel.

Dedeman has a bar with girls on the ground floor and also a club underground. Doesn't open till midnight or so. The bar was open earlier. Nice selection of Syrian and Iraqi girls in both places and some good quality. It's ok to just go ahead and sit down next to them and start talking. I didn't take anyone from here.

Sheraton has a club through a side entrance. Some very nice 8+ girls of younger age and Syrian and Iraqi origin. Took a girl from here twice for $200 until 4am. The menu is pricy so beware of what you are ordering and how much it costs. Very very easy to run up a $100+ tab.

Everyone I met agreed that it wasn't possible for the girl to go to my hotel (not one of the hotels aboce) unless I booked her a separate room. She had a driver that brought us back to an apartment and then took us away when we were done. Didn't have any problems with the driver or going to the apartment. Apartment was clean, roomy, and DID NOT have that nasty grimy seedy feeling.

The statement "this or that hotel is not GF so let's go to my place" is a bait.
You can go with the girl expecting sex but she will take you somewhere where few guys will wait for you, beat you and take your money, passport of whatever. This usually done by iraqi gangs who operate in Damascus.

Anyway, the report is as follows :

I was in Damascus for a short visit lately and stayed in Meridien. As usual, I spent most of the time with business associates and had almost no chance to try the scene.

Last night just before leaving Syria, I went to the downstairs disco. It was full of girls with different variety, some real stunners and some average girls. I sat next to the stage and started to watch the scene. It did not take long to be approached by the girls for the action. Actually, they were rather straight, asking me directly if I want sex. Some of them were asking first where I do stay and immediately mentioning that Meridien is not girlfriendly and we should go to their place. I kept saying that I want to just watch what is going on around and enjoy my bear, but it did not work. I think they were thinking that I did not like the previous girl and they should try their chances. Now, I am really curious on how it works there. I went through the posts of fellow members and as far as I understand things are changing here and Meridien is not a GF hotel. Is it true? And which ones are GF hotels?

On the other hand, if you go to their place, is it their apartment or another arrangement? I am concerned about the safety mainly. It will not be nice to be ripped off in a country where you do noat know the rules.

I would appreciate for any info. Damascus in a nice town with a vibrant atmosphere and if there is any chane for mongering, I will love the place even more.
