    Yellow fever vaccination

You can be denied entry. BUT: As I just got informed here in USA by Kaiser Travel nurse, if you are in your 60's the shot can have deadly effect and may even screw up the nerves system. About 1-20,000 chance, about the the same as getting Yellow Fever in the affected areas. The recommendation is NO shot for people in 60's and get a waiver letter from your Doctor plus the CDC card stamped with the waiver to carry also. That should suffice if immigration requests Yellow Fever shot documentation if you are in that age bracket. Otherwise, get a shot.

I actually got denied even getting on the plane from Bogota to San Jose last year. This year I am going from Colombia, to Panama 4 nights, then San Jose. You are supposed to wait in Panama at least 10 days first. The airline person in Colombia this time was trying to be a ***** and not let me leave to Panama, just because she was asking about my Costa Rica ticket. She tried to get the other Avianca guy to agree, but he said it won't be a problem from Panama. She didn't like that, so she called someone else. And they said it wouldn't be a problem either. The ***** at Avianca was doing what she could to make me an unhappy traveler. There are some places that give you the shot, and they will fake the date for you. I just did have enough time to do this before making my flights.

    Late September

    Hey man,

Yeah there is usually around 20 during the day and it jumps to 30-40 at night during the week.

Age difference and appearance is what attracts attention and that is what the hotel would be concerned about. I have had several friends visiting town for business who were in their 30's who had no problem bringing in a guest to an upscale hotel.
I understand what you mean. One technique my GF and I have been somewhat successful with is to have her and the girl enter the hotel casually and proceed up to the room. I then show up 10 or 15 minutes later and go up.

The grade crossing flagman they hire to keep the noise level down helps out a bit, assuming they still do that. One can try for a room in the back and that dampens the noise. Disposable ear plugs helped me a lot too. My biggest problem with Del Rey is that bullshit $12 joiner fee they charge their guests to bring their pigs up to their room EVERY single time. I just totally disagree with that. I do agree that Del Rey has the best box both in terms of overall quality and quantity. I suggested Sportsman simply out of convenience to the previous posters. Sometimes good talent can be found there and it's easy for them to swing by there and check it out.

I'm thinking that staying at the Del Rey might be too overwhelming with a lot of men there and that may make my GF uncomfortable or am I wrong on this?

I saw photos of the Hotel Taormina online and it looks like a decent place. Are they guest friendly? Is it far from the Del Rey?

Is the Taormina as good as it gets?
Toarmina does not charge a chica fee. Late in the evening, you might even see 4-5 working chicas visiting the hotel bar if plenty of guys are hanging out down there.

Everything there is very new and impressive looking. If I were taking a non-working girl with me to San Jose, Taormina is the first place I'd consider staying at.

Regarding the HDR chica fee, I too don't like the chica fee at HDR, but I end up paying it for the convenience. In fact, they are worse about the chica fee now than they were earlier in the year. I used to be able to take a chica upstairs for about an hour, then take her out for dinner for an hour, and then upon returning to go upstairs with the same chica, the guy downstairs wouldn't force me to pay a second time for the same chica. HDR is more strict now. Management has cracked down on the security guys and now they supposedly have to charge you for each chica elevator ride even if it's the same chica going up and down.

There really aren't any "top class" hotels in San José proper. You might be happy with the hotel behind the Del Rey. Check the hotel thread but I think it is called the Sleep Inn. They do charge a chica fee but they will let them in. I think it might be $20 a chica. But that info should be in the hotel thread. That hotel has a casino as well but will not be a fucking zoo like the Del Rey. If you want a plusher hotel, you would need to look to the outlying areas.

Would you know of a guest-friendly top class hotel where we could stay? Then, we could simply visit the Del Ray for the chicas.
