Just a quick post to confirm what Chris is saying about the massage prices, tourists (like me) are charged about 50 lats for erotic massage which is a big ripoff, but not half as big as being suckered into going into the stripclubs in Riga like Kleopatra or Jockey club! (MAJOR RIPOFF).

I don't know too much about the market here for erotic massage.

One of our Companions works in one of them sometimes. She told me that the price of her place is 25 Lats to locals and 50 Lats to foreigners (this is quite typical behaviour in Latvia I am sorry to say.)

There are a couple of A5 sized free guide magazines that it's possible to find in certain hotels - Riga This Week and Riga Welcome! They aren't as easy to find as they were a couple of years ago, but they both have adult supplements in the back (although in places like the airport, these are removed).

I've spent a while thinking about this objectively but no, I still can't agree with this theory. My head turns a lot more in Riga than it does in Liepaja.

I'm trying to work out why this might be the case. The only reason that I can think of is it being down to money and competition.

It seems to be a case that Liepaja girls don't try as hard to impress as Riga girls do.

Of course there are exceptions to this rule. The glamorous girls go to BIG7 - Friday night is better than the Saturday night. The other two clubs in Liepaja, Pablo and Fontaine tend to attract a more downmarket crowd.

I wish that I had more positive things to say about Liepaja (OK, it's very cheap - that's one advantage, and the beach is great in the summer, that's another!) I have apartments in both cities, but I make sure that I am not in Liepaja over the weekend because there's really nowhere to go there.

I gues it depends upon how much 'Game' you have. If you are the type of guy who gets girls without a problem in your home country, then sure it's possible to get some action.

But it is not as of girls are going to be flocking to you simply because you are able to play the foreigner card on them.

As I said in my previous post on the subject, it's a small town where everyone knows everyone and girls are afraid of getting a bad reputation - it's a far cry from the anonymity that Riga girls believe they have in the 'huge metropolis' of 750,000 people!

One suggestion if it is a short while until you come here is to try and contact a few girls using the Latvian flirting/dating sites. I've been going to Latvia for about three years or so now, and for price and service I have to say that (in my opinion) I can get better in London. The agencies advertising in the free papers are cheap enough by London standards at about 45-50 Lats, but they will promise anything on the phone. What you get from the girl, though, is up to her. Varying quality in other words.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again, for mongering, Riga is a waste of time. The girls can earn more by travelling to work abroad for a few months a year than they can by working full time in Riga and they know it. They often show it by their attitude.

The other thing that has ruined Riga is cheap airlines flying in parties of drunken Brits on stag weekend parties. The male:female ratio is all upset now! (Besides mongering, is Riga REALLY such a good place to go on the [CodeWord140]?. I don't think so).
