I am only 47, but about 80 lbs overweight (although most people think half of that). I've lost 50 lbs this year and my goal is another 40 before this trip in Feb.

This is a dangerous exaggeration. There are plenty of civilians working in Sosua who are not interested in spot cash and would be very offended if approached that way. Some of these could be "courted" like any non-pro, but it is the "at once" in your post that I object to.

Thanks. I am not planning on doing too much other than relaxing on the beach and finding company. I think that is one of the reasons that BB appealed to me.

If you can handle a conversation in spanish, even roughly, you should opt for Sosua.

My Spanish is very basic but taking a course now and practicing almost daily, so I should be able to have a basic conversation by the time I get there. And google translate can help as well.

Sosua: technically, any girl you can see there can be yours at once. Girl that you cross in the street, waitress, working in a shop,. And there is plenty of choice, from white to black, Dominicans and Haitianas (I confirm these angels are sweeter). Spend all day at the nice beach, animated with many good little restaurants, and there are places where you just seat with a beer in front of the sea, and you can see all the girls walking by afternoon, waiting for your smile and your patronage for the night.

At night, everything is within 200 meters on the same road: restaurants, bars, disco, and hundreds of girls, mainly FL. Given the choice, impossible to come back alone. If you prefer GFE than PSE (although you can find this combination easily), go ahead to Sosua. You won't get bored night and day. Everyday I woke up there, I had a big smile on my face, knowing in advance I'll have a nice day at the beach, a ST for snack, and LT with a cutie every night. Girls are cool there.
If you stay at Sosua, I strongly recommend the Hotel New garden, and a Platinum room there (around 70$). See my previous post comparing New Garden and Casa Valeria.

BB: Well, there is no much to do there. Even the beach in front is ugly. Selection of ladies is poor (10 to 20) compared to Sosua (1000+). No haitianas. Nothing to do except sunbath around the pool and beer at the bar. No GFE. No atmosphere, or fake one. No 'fiesta' and hapiness feelings. Actually, I booked at BB for 3 nights, but stayed only 1 night, because I did'nt like it. I got bored after few hours, and I didn't like the girls and the concept. I'm quite young though (50) and good looking, so definitly can get better outside BB. I ran out of BB after 24 h, and I couldn't leave Sosua after 10 days. YMMV. The only advantage of BB would be for people totally unexperienced with FL, not speaking spanish at all, or with age/physical issue.

I am brand new to this board and I have spent hours reading all the wonderful info trying to get prepared for a trip this February. I've been to Havana and had some fun there before.

I am actually heading to Sosua with some friends and family for a non monger vacation so my plan when they leave on Sunday, I will stay behind for a few days.

I am trying to decide between staying in Sosua or going to Blackbeards.

I am an early morning riser, usually in bed by midnight, so I am not interested in the late night partying that one can do in Sosua and not at BB. I speak a little Spanish, but I am not fluent.

I am hoping by telling you guys what I am looking for, you can help me decide between Sosua or BB.

I enjoy a lot of different body types, what I am looking for is more GFE type sessions, lots of DFK, BBBJ with CIM.

Just wondering, am I better off at Blackbeards or in Sosua? Or am I being realistic thinking I'll find that at either?

If you are not sure, but plan on going back, do a couple of days at BB and a couple in Sosua. I have been to Sosua several times. Earlier this year, I tried BB for a couple of days before going to Sosua. The last trip, I went to both places and added a few Days in Caberete. I enjoying that mix. In the future, If I only have 5 days, I would do both BB and Sosua. I didn't have trouble finding BBBJ and CIM at BB. The chicas were more to my liking on my trips, but probably more variety of bodies in Sosua. If you send an email to BB, they will send you photos from the Bikini contest, it is fairly representative of what is usually on site, at least on my two trips.

I know a few chicas in the DR who play that game. Most men don't take kindly to other men "making the beast with two backs" with their women. I know I wouldn't like it done to me. Best to leave it alone. I wouldn't rat her out either. I'd move on. Plenty of other chicas to go after in my opinion. This chica your talking about. She wouldn't be from Santiago would she? Right, that's a given. Don't act like a total jerk and expect the world from a girl. Some guys, with clear psychological problems, go out of their way to humiliate or mistreat a girl. I always say if you treat a chica well, you are often repaid in kind. (Of course, that part depends on the girl you chose).

Well, as I said, there is always a variety of opinions on the subject you raised. If you are going on a non-mongering vacation to Sosua, be observant and take a look around. You will see unescorted women walking the streets by day, and if you go out at night, they will be filling the bars and casinos. You can figure out what to expect. (If you are going with family, after exposure to the abundance of hookers in Sosua, its a little surprising a spouse will allow you a few days "on your own".

Firstly, no one can guarantee you a GFE, anywhere. That depends on the girl. Its a crap shoot anywhere you go.

Since you are in bed by midnight, the nightlife in Sosua will be lost on you. For some, the music at BB ending at 11 is a drawback, for some, it means getting a good night's sleep. Speaking for myself, I don't go to the DR or BB to party all night. By 11 pm, I prefer to be in my room with a girl. For a guy with limited time for "game" or trolling, its far more convenient. Sounds to me like you don't have time to get to know any non-pros or wining and dining.

In Sosua, you are on your own, so you can have a great experience, or a nightmare. Potluck. While some find the controlled environment at BB stifling, for a newbie to the DR, it also offers an element of security and "quality control" you won't get on the street.

As stated, it all depends on YOUR taste.

If you prefer (mostly) reliable professional prostitutes, stay at Blackbeards.

If you prefer to take your chances from a mix of professional prostitutes, unprofessional prostitutes, amateurs learning the game as prostitutes, transvestites, drug addicts, and civilians wanting a good night out and who would not mind going home with more cash than they came out with, then stay in Sosua.

Blackbeards for a sure thing, Sosua for a lucky dip.

If, like me, and like many ex-pats and repeat visitors, you have learned that haitianas offer the best value for money and time invested, then steer clear of Blackbeards because there are none there (unless things have changed recently).

Maybe not this trip, but for any future one, do not rule out Puerto Plata city as your base. For non-pros and semi-pros it leaves Sosua standing but you will need more than a few days to learn your way around and build up a contacts list. And some Spanish (which you have).

You say you are looking for a GFE, non monger vacation!

On that basis alone, for a real GFE experience I would recommend Sosua.

In BB you are geographically stuck in a place with strict regulations for both hookers and johns, early bar closing times, and if you happen to fall in lust with one "special" who may be busy for the couple days you are there, too bad!

Nothing worse than waiting for sloppy seconds from your dream GFE, and not ever getting there.

Sosua is more 'GFE" bars, party places, dancing, casinos, restaurants to show her a good time, and she's there only for you, as long as you pick up the tab. And, while you have to observe the normal cautions in picking up strange women, your choices are virtually unlimited on an average Sosua weekend!

Even a Sosua hoe's story of being a student nurse, student banker, student teacher whatever is sometimes more palatable after a few cocktails than a hoe who is looking at her watch because her shift is over! And like a real GF, she'll not make you wait in line!

But like I said, we all choose different ways to roll!

Try them both and see where you best fit in!
