Mail-in voting, particularly in democrat-run cities known for corruption and dysfunction, is a joke. Even the likes of Jimmy Carter and Elizabeth Warren said so: Carter in his 2005 bipartisan commission on voter fraud, which concluded that mail-in ballots were unsecure; and Warren just a couple of years back when she warned of the risk of vote-switching in the Dominion machines.

Running a secure election is incredibly simple. Citizens register to vote if they wish to do so. They go into a private booth and mark their choice on a paper ballot which they push into a secure box.

Anyone who is legitimately unable to get to a polling station (housebound due to illness or injury; stationed or working overseas) can apply in advance for an absentee ballot. Their identity will be verified and they will receive the ballot. This will be a tiny fraction of total voters.

At the end of the day, the secure boxes are taken to a local counting centre, where volunteers tally the votes in the open. Election scrutineers from both parties are free to observe as they wish. Each batch of ballots is overseen by two counters, one Republican and one Democrat, both of whom must sign off on the tally before it is added to the total..

Your original rant brought up the "Big Pharma is against ivermectin" poppycock. Sure, ivermectin is safe when prescribed by a doctor for the treatment of authorized issues. The drug is not, repeat, is not authorized as a treatment for COVID. And plenty of Tractor Supply stores in trump country have run out of horse dewormer. I realize that Republicans get upset at the "horse dewormer" characterization, but lots of Republicans have been clogging up ERs in trump country with ivermectin overdoses. Probably about the same number who were admitted in 2020 suffering from bleach poisoning or to remove rectal glass fragments.

The study you referred to said ivermectin showed promise against COVID in a laboratory. That's what "in vitro" means. Drug company archives are full of drugs that showed promise in the lab but failed clinical trials. Some problems were discovered after the drug hit the market. Remember thalidomide? Fen-phen?

California has over 22 million registered voters, which is 87.87% of adult Californians that are eligible to register.

Of those over 22 million registered voters (a November 2020 measure) 46.1% are registered democrats. 24 years ago democrats were 47.2% of registered voters, so it holds pretty steady.

Republicans seem to be a dying breed out here, as their number of registered voters in California has steadily dropped over the years from 36.4% of CA registered voters in 1996 to only 24.2% in November 2020.

But with shitty GOP candidates and bad policies, it is easy to understand why that has happened in just one generation.

The ballots have not been counted yet, but as the mail-in ballots arrive a constant tally is made of how many ballots arrive from democrats, as well as the minor parties, like the GOP.

Mail-in ballots from democrats are outpacing republicans by an easy to predict 2:1 ratio in this current republican recall effort.

Gavin Newsom won in 2018 with (as I recall) over 60% of the votes, and he will probably be kept in office (and re-elected) with repeats of this +60% measure.
