I hope the Chicas pictured will still be there when I arrive next month.

I also hope I can avoid drinking any tainted booze, breathing any poisoned air, and getting salmonella from local food while I'm there!

My friends who know I'm going to DR are starting to suggest I should cancel. The majority of news reports talk about deaths in SD or parts east of there. But the latest was a guy in Sosua.

Pictures in the BB newsletter are current as they are taken the previous 2 weeks between the newsletters, so most likely the chicas will be there. They have a Chicago book behind the main desk that has most of the current BB girls. Go through it & if you really want one, you can ask the mamasan when they are working next or may call them to come in fore you. BB is really safe as far as the DR goes.

Nobody has established any link to deaths. With millions of Americans going to DR few deaths here and there are bound to happen. Death in Sosua probably linked over exertion and weak heart. Could not keep up with sexy young girls LOL. While food safety is suspect in many venues overall do not cause death. Most likely stomach upset with associated diarrhea which will clear itself in couple of days. There are no reports of any deaths in BB. When you travel to other countries there is always a risk. With our hobby more so. Take it easy if there are health issues. You should be fine.

Charles, the guys who chased me and my buddy were nowhere near civilized! It's a great story though. If you are around BB July 11 to 20, I'll be happy to give you the whole story over a suitable adult beverage at the bar.

I was just looking through some of the pics in the BB board (so nice to be a subscriber!) and find myself wondering what the local custom is, especially with the Chicas who frequent BB, with "hedge trimming" and "Southern Maintenance."

Should I expect to see some fairly high brush, modestly mowed lawns, or bare landscapes? Obviously there will be variation from Chica to Chica, but what's the general trend, please?

I was in BB about 10 years ago and came up with lice, between the bends of my fingers. Had to buy and use some lice prescription for shampoo and also for my body. Told the front desk. Perhaps it came from the bed sheets, or from a girl. That is the only problem I have had with VD or an STD.

Given that the chicas are always clean shaven in the crotch area, it possible it may have come from head lice. The bed sheets there are changed daily.

Over several years of visits, I never observed a Bush. Always found them clean shaven.

No idea, but they did sue the place. They also went home earlier than they were supposed to because of the sickness. Here is the video.

We can listen to whatever news reports come our way, but I expect no one on this board will really know what all the facts are and what news stories are more speculation than truth. Also, based on my understanding of the DR, I don't expect any official from DR's LE or Government to actually "admit" to wrong doing by the local company or DR citizens. That doesn't mean "locals" are culpable, it just means if they are, someone else will need to prove it.

Bottom line for me, I'm going in July and I expect to fuck my brains out, multiple times. I'll not take stupid risks and I will take reasonable precautions. Just like when I travel anywhere. I've been to 29 countries and the worst experiences I've had were seeing my ATM card stolen in Tijuana, and literally running away from Russian mobsters at a London strip club in Piccadilly Circle, jumping into a taxi and seeing a cricket bat hit the back window as we drove away (but that's a story for another board).

The deaths you have read about have nothing to do with your situation. They may be suicide pacts, natural causes, domestic disputes or blackmail scams, but they are not random attacks on single male mongers.
