And bars, nightclubs and restaurants? I have asked some friends in Rio if this is true and they have told me that some places are asking for proof of vaccination but not all. I'd like to know have restrictive they plan on being and how much they can actually enforce these "mandates."

No hurry. The majority of the gringos going to Brazil are vaccinated. There are some exceptions, actually I read today in the Brazilian paper about a 52 years old French guy who is in the hospital in Ribeirao Preto seriously ill in covid-19. He wasn't vaccinated. Your question is too broad. It depends on a lot of factor and the range is very wide. If you live in an area with a lot of gringo then the price will approach US.

Brazil is far more developed so it will be more expensive on average but the food choice is much better so for most people cost may not be the deciding factor

I have personally found Bogot cheaper than Rio de Janeiro in pretty much all areas.

PREFACE:

This post won't have loads of info with addresses and prices (a poster just did that recently and would highly recommend you check it out) but like my SP post it will detail my experiences and how it is when you have your boots on the ground.

I also want to clarify that I won't be sharing Harley's contact. I understand now why some forum members don't share their contacts as we've put in the work and established a understanding with the girls we've made contact with. CHAPTER 1: So this is it, Huh?

I land in Rio on the 17th and have to wait for Harley to arrive as she missed her flight and had to grabbed the next available flight, I would later learn this would be a reoccurring theme that my life's author didn't mention. Flight prices weren't so bad for last minute trips, they were between $100-200 USD round trip to SP and RJ. She arrives and we head to our AirBnB that I got last second as I wasn't expecting company to be with me. I was staying in CopaNema which is the middle point where Copa and Ipanema meet. In hindsight I should have gotten a better hotel or AirBnB in Barra as I didn't need to be close to the action at least for the next 5 days. I always go with an AirBnB personally as it is much cheaper than a hotel in Copa or Ipa (mine was new and actually had a new hot tub in it) hotels are good options too but I like washing my own clothes and I'm not a messy person so I don't need maid service. Hotels can be good for guys who worry about girls stealing your stuff but I never had that issue and Rio is littered with cheap love motels so you can always do that as well.

What I like about Harley is that she got a kick out of little things, like seeing yellow taxi cabs. We unfortunately came when Rio's weather was not as the best as it could be and had to play it by ear. We also came literally the day after Rio implemented covid vaccine requirements to visit any of the tourist spots. Guess who wasn't vaccinated.

So we didn't get to see christ the redeemer, do the train ride, go up sugar loaf, museum of the future, visit the stadium, etc. It was a real bummer as this was her first time in Rio and we had to do whatever we could at that point.

But all of that didn't matter as she was a trooper and just rolled with the punches. She never complained about anything or asked for anything. One good thing about having a brazilian girl with you is that you can order stuff with Rappi and other delivery services that require CPF, so we usually just ate in. We would just eat burgers (TT Burger is a great local chain) and just make the most of it.

There's a pretty nice restaurant called Flutuante Rio that floats out by URCA but there can be a line as you need to be ferried there. Food is just ok but it's a great view and experience and pretty cheap. We ended up going to Lapa afterwards at night and it was decent as we went bar crawling but coming from Miami it didn't really do it for me personally as every place was small but that's just Rio in general. We ended the night by taking two lime scooters from copa all the way down to our AirBNB. It was like $2 USD for both of us so highly recommend, it's really fun! We were just two lovers enjoying this escape from reality. We ended the night with a steamy shower and sex. Although we had a great day I was worried we weren't going to be doing enough so I stayed up trying to find some fun things to do the next day. As I was doing that she was calling me to come to bed so we can cuddle and fall asleep together. Life was good.

The boat ride in barra I had stayed up to secure cancelled the next morning due to weather and I was pissed. I couldn't get any boat rides my entire stay as the weather would be nice in the morning but by noon it would get cloudy and start drizzling. Big disappointment to say the least.

We just ended up going to get some burgers and afterwards went to Vanity Love Motel because I'm a fan of mirrors and my Airbnb didn't have any. Vanity is actually one of the best low budget love motels in Copa as I went to Lido afterwards and that was really barebones and was the same price more or less. Panda and Love Time Hotel are the better upscale options but a drive from copa but not far.

Vanity has ceiling mirrors and I swear we looked like the renaissance painting, The Fisherman and the Syren by Frederic Leighton, 1858. I was living the dream I always had since I could remember. We would lie down and talk a bit and then go back at it. We spoke a weird mixture of Porto, Spanish and English. It was actually funny because it felt like we were talking our own special language. I do have to say after some time I did feel sort of stuck and wanted something different. At this point I didn't go to any termas or boates as I was with the ol ball and chain LOL I did really enjoy her company so it wasn't just the sex even tho she really did everything I wanted and with a smile. It really transcended into next level GFE as she would tidy up our apartment and would translate for me and wanted to do anything I wanted to do. Funny enough I hit up some cariocas that I met in January to ask where I should take this girl to have a good time and they were happy to help! Carioca girls are super helpful and getting their numbers can be very useful to get intel. These girls get flown out to dubai first class and travel to Italy and France with some rich dudes and I only sessioned once with these girls yet they were eager to help me out.

The next day we took a Jeep Tour around some forest areas and saw the place where the hang gliders jump off. There was more areas but due to covid we couldn't go with the Jeep so we had skip it. I swear I picked the best time to come. We ended with a trip to a waterfall that took a bit of footwork to get to. It was so muddy and I was a bit embarrassed we had to get so dirty to get to this place but she insisted it was fine and it reminded her of when she was a kid in Porto Alegre and use to explore the parks with her cousins. We get to the waterfall and it feels like a scene from a teenage coming of age movie where we just have a moment that just feels so surreal yet totally organic. It couldn't be more perfect. Found this experience on AirBNB and it was like $50 USD each.

We got dropped off at Copa beach and I bought some cheese on a stick and she got some maconha. For some reason all the banks we're refusing to let me withdraw money from the ATMs but luckily the beach sellers had card readers on them which I liked. Some might feel this can be sketchy but they put the amount in front of you and you swipe and only get charged that. I had no issues but some might find this too risky so always carry cash and if I had some I would do that instead.

We go back to our apartment and blow some steam and hit Fogo de Chao. Really nice all you can eat steak house and it really fills you up for $50 USD each. I never had so much steak so go with an empty stomach.

Harley was set to go the next day but I asked her to stay longer and she agreed to 2 more days. I bought her a round trip ticket so I had to dump that and get her a new one way. Oh well. I personally liked GoToGate and 1 Mil to get tickets, got some good deals.

Not everything was sunshines tho. This girl would sleep until noon or 1 pm so we could never do anything earlier than that. Shame since the sun was out hard before noon so we actually never got to see the beach in all it's glory.

But she made it up by cooking me dinner. We went to a supermarket and even though we had only been together for 5 days it felt like several months and we felt like a married couple living our usual routine. It was a delicious dinner and I had to nap from the sheer dopamine I got from it. She put her hair in a bun, no make up, put on my clothes as pajamas and we slept the night away. I could have died that day and would have been fine with it.

The last day was terrible. It was rainy, windy and cloudy. We went to a beach in barra and quickly decided that was a horrible idea. We then picked a random burger joint and had our last dinner. It was in a weird plaza kinda inland of barra but it was actually pretty decent and the owner gave us extra attention. It wasn't how I pictured our last meal but it didn't matter because she liked it and I liked just having her around.

We went to the airport and turned out my bank cancelled the ticket because they thought it was fraud. So we had to buy it at the counter. Wasnt so bad but be aware to check so you don't run into this issue. Her plane didn't leave for another 1. 5 HR so she asked if I wanted to stick around with her until she had to leave. At this point I was exhausted and kinda annoyed with the mix up and I was going to meet with another forum member I had left alone since I was with harley the entire time. I told her it was best to get thru security and just be ready to board so she doesn't miss her flight and she agreed. As she stepped across the line and looked back, tears were flowing. Mentally I was ready for her to leave but emotionally I wasn't. We hugged like we were never going to see each other again. Like this was a dream and I was about to wake up. I couldn't say anything and I was just glad we had to wear masks. Looking back I wish I had stayed the extra 1 HR with her at that airport.

She left and I went to go meet my old combat buddy from SP.

CHAPTER 2: A Shipmate and the Sirens.

I went to go meet a forum poster who I met in SP and originally was going to show around Rio since it was his first time. Things changed of course. We hit terma Cancun and it was one of the best small terma in centro but it only had 3 girls so pretty dead. I personally think it's best to get a rio girl to hang out in the daytime instead of going to a prive. Prives are ok but I don't think they're worth the trouble and you honestly can get a better experience touring with a rio girl in the day time and bang afterwards and then do the termas at night. We get to vidgal and you have to get a motorcycle ride to get up to the top. It was only 15 reais and kinda exciting going up and down that way. Party was pretty lively and fun. The plan was to go to ASHA club afterwards but I later found out it was closed that night so kinda bummed me out. Funny enough there were some couples who wanted to swap at the party but steph didn't like the guys. One couple was super determined and followed us to get a last attempt but steph shut it down LOL it was kind of funny to see the other guys trying to diss me to get to steph but she wasn't having none of that and put them in their place. We ended up staying for 6 hours. I got tired towards the end and had to sit down. As the night went by I started to miss harley. The band were playing love songs and even though I couldn't understand it I felt it. All this time I was just trying to convince myself I would be ok in rio without her and tried to make a new experience. I told steph about her and how we spent a great trip together. She saw her pic, was really impressed and asked me why I was being a dumbass and not with this girl and still in rio. She made me write a message to harley to meet in SP and so told me I better be on the way to SP tomorrow or else. I thanked her for her help and being understanding, we called it a night and parted ways.

Harley still hadn't written back as she sleeps away the day so I was just waiting for her response. Idk it just felt different without her. I got so used waking up next to her and just doing mundane stuff. The walls would echo with our laughter and all I could see were the shadows of moments we had all over the apartment. It was terrible. I then got a message from a carioca I was supposed to meet earlier but had to postpone because of harley. She just flew back from a trip for the day to visit me since we planned it weeks ago. I told her my situation and she suggested we get lunch and she'd be happy to just listen and lift my spirits. As I was about to leave harley messaged me that we could meet that day and so I told my rio girl I had to cancel and go see harley. I thought she would have been pissed because she interrupted her trip to see me but she was actually excited for me and rooted me on to go. I owe her lunch. I had to cut my airbnb short, no refund. I had to dump my return flight from my round trip back to the US as it was RJ-SP-US, so no refund. I packed all my stuff as quick as possible and got an uber straight to SDU. Got the next flight to SP and maybe strike lighting twice.

CHAPTER 3: Ulysses reunites with Penelope.

I grab the nearest hotel on the plane ride since I literally had nothing and needed to organize this very last minute plan. Went with a 5 star hotel since they wouldn't give me any trouble checking in late.

Harley comes over and it's like we picked up where we left off. I actually noticed then that I hadn't eaten anything those past 3 days in rio and was starving. Instead of going to the gourmet restaurant downstairs she suggests burgers. I told her I wouldn't have it any other way. The burgers get delivered and the staff looks at us funny as we bring our cheap food to their fancy establishment LOL.

We rekindle the flame and later watch some youtube and doze off to another dream that wasn't the one we were currently having. We had a nice view of the famous bridge in SP and the way the lights lit the night I knew I made the right decision.

We wake up late and get some burgers and go to an arcade center to play some games. I switched to an airBNB so we ended up going there afterwards. Funny enough the AirBnB was where she used to live and she was having nostalgic flashbacks. It was like I knew her already. We shared an intimate last night and I couldn't have been more happier with my decision.

I left her this time around with a smile.

As soon as I got to GRU, American screwed me over with delays so if you can avoid them do it. They're the worst.

CHAPTER 4: Don't tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.

As I write this, the memories dance and whisper their sweet tales to me. At first I wasn't so sure if it was a good idea to be with one girl in rio as I do like variety and 5 days to start was pretty long. I'm glad I did because I finally achieved that elusive brazilian super GFE.

I'm planning for a 180 days stay (the maximum allowed) in the near future in Brazil. After my initial 90 days, I plan to apply for the additional 90 days. I did the same on my previous trip where I initially bought a 90 days round trip ticket and thanks to the airline's covid policy, was able to change my return flight date without any fees. However, this year the airline is no longer offering that policy. So I'm thinking of purchasing a 180 round trip ticket. My question is, since I will only be given a 90 days stay visa on arrival in Brazil, will the airline and Brazilian customs allow me to enter with my return flight 180 days away? Or will they require me to have a return flight within the initial 90 days given to me?

How would immigration know you are going to stay for 180 days when you arrive? They don't ask to see your return ticket when you go thru customs.

Hey guys! I'm thinking of booking a plane ticket to visit Brazil for the first time (currently in Mexico). I'm looking for advice on where to:

1. stay.

I don't have an answer but you can buy two one way tickets and cancel the return flight once you landed. I don't think they checked return flight ticket but you never know. There is a possibility they will know your intention if you return flight is 180 days away because it is on the same trip so they will see it on their system.

Doesn't airlines charge a fee for cancellations as well? I rather buy a round trip ticket than two one way tickets since the round trip ticket would be cheaper.

But I think I found a solution, which is to purchase a temporary flight reservation with a flight date within the 90 days. I think the Brazilian customs don't check for proof of return flight ticket but the airline do during check-in. And if the airline do ask for proof then I will have my temporary flight reservation to show them.

Just to add that you may be denied entry at 4 x4 after 1 AM. Yes it is open. You can get out but may not be able to get in after 1 AM or even earlier.
