I thought I should just give up when the bellman turned to me and asked me in English if I was looking for a girl to have sex with. Thankfully I know no one here so heck with them.

The bellman turned out to be quite an asset. He told me it wasn't a good idea to go by myself, that he would be off in a few minutes and would accompany me to a place he knew well. Within a few minutes we were on our way to El Gato / The Cat where the bellman knew the manager. I had $60 in my pocket and figured this would be more than enough for the evening.

We get in the place and I'm the only gringo. The bellman seems well connected and somehow allows us to bypass the cover charge of a few dollars. As I'm making my way in I'm starting to make eye contact with four or five different girls ranging from 5 to 8. There is a dance stage in the middle of the floor for a girl to dance on and there are tv screens throughout the bar showing porn movies. It's a dim place, loud with the smell of smoke in the air. He had told me prior to going in the cost would be $25. This young lady would not let her services go for less than $35. I said fine.

She takes my hand and leads me up a stairway where we are met by a large woman sitting at a desk. The large woman provides paper towels and a condom and then we walking again down a long hallway where I am being lead by my columbian friend as I dodge other guys and gals coming from the direction I seem to be heading.

That was a bit awkward, but I appreciated her taking the time to clean herself with a hose afterwards and was definitely in a giving mood. I can confirm that the price in La 18 has been raised to $10, went just today and 2 girls ask for the same price.

They said the price of "la cama" (the bed) was raised about a month ago, so they also raised the price.

And I did saw the police there, it's actually a complete police station half-a-block from la 18. It's in Brasil Street between 17th and 18th.

I suspect they are talking about Isla Del Tesoro. Not a bad place, but more expensive than Quito options. Probably more than a dozen girls in the 6-8 range. Some have very nice bodies. For entrance fee ($22?) + drinks + chica ($150?) I would think you need to show up with more than $200 in your pocket. If I ever go back there I would make sure I had at least $300, to avoid any cash shortages. If this is too expensive, just outside the club you will see street walkers lined up across the road. I was told they could be had for around $40-$60 per hour.

I also visited Imperio and El Gato while in Guayaquil. I do not recommend either establishment. YMMV.

Does anyone know if there are places in Guayaquil that Semi Pros,"Prepagos", or Independent Escorts hang around looking for customers? I know these places exist in Manta and in the Oriente (East / Jungle) , but I've never heard of anywhere like this in Guayaquil. Option in the great city of GYE are pretty limited right now, there is a number of a "madam" the is reliable I think I posted it a few months ago, but other than that the usual chongos of the city which are no longer in the city Imperio is far as hell and el Gato is in an area of the city that is not entirely safe. 18 st. Is still available but unless you have a local wingman I would not recommeded it, blidoo is a hit or miss. Hope this clears the air for some of you.
