This is obviously one of the countless Nigerian who operate in Dubai and extra caution must be paid since apparently they are evolving. The usual 6/800 for a stunner are self explanatory, but in my case they seem to have done their homework to make more people fall in their crap.

Even seniors get caught out, so maybe a checklist for fellow mongers to avoid the scams would be helpful and posted in RoD? Other members please add to the list.

1. RTTF.

2. Avoid CL / Backpages. If the need is urgent go to an AMP. RTTF - you will find same service at same price in a relatively safe environment.

3. If it looks too good to be true, it will not be true. Market law prevails.

4. Never take more money with you, than you are planning to invest for the deed.

5. Leave credit cards / ID in car or at home.

6. Call or use whattsapp voice message to confirm the origin of the lady by voice.

7. Ideally ask the lady to meet you in reception or definitely in the corridor. If she says no. Walk away.

8. Never enter the room until you have seen the lady.

9. if caught in the scam pay and get out. Expensive lesson learnt.

This happened to me too when I was very new to the city.

Found a hot European on Tinder who quoted a high price but we ended up negotiating it to around 700-800. I withdrew the exact amount (luckily) and got there by cab. I was called to one of the most affluent buildings in downtown and lady was constantly chatting on Whatsapp and on calls. The building being so affluent was covered with cameras and had all security measures in place wherein I needed a code to get inside.

I got to the door and called her that I am outside to which she said ya just ring the bell. This should have been my hint to leave the place but being a newbie I thought she must be busy and it must be either flatmates / friends who would open the door.

Once the door opened, I just heard the voice 'baby come in' with nobody in sight. As soon as I got in they asked me to sit in the living room and two Nigerians wearing just bra and pants came out. I asked where the lady in the picture is to which they said she is coming here shortly and started asking for money. I said I'll wait for her and then give to which they became aggressive and started taking wallet out of my pocket. (If it was just those two girls you can fight it off I guess, but you're never sure who else is inside in the room). So I took the money and gave it to her. She said money is too less and I said this is what was agreed. To which she said, it was 700 $ not AED and started calling someone.

By now I had figured this entire thing out. I just took my wallet and rushed out of that place. Luckily had my phone & cards on me safe so could book an Uber to get back.

I was directed to a hotel on the inner side of JLT, Continental Tower, and once there she gave me the unit number. I went to the apartment and the door was opened with no one in sight and a pretty dark room. My bell rang, I had in my many years here only a similar experience in a similar way at Tecom, and very cautiously entered that bit of the room that allowed me who was hiding behind the door. I could spot a very dark figure against the wall and just waived goodbye.

So, I posted about a PRC girl couple of months back Ms. L whom I met from MR. At that time she took 7 reds for the experience. The whole thing was nice but pricey. So after learning from you all mongers I sharpened my skills and negotiated to 5 reds. She agreed.

This is not the first time such incidents are reported on this Forum. CL, Backpage is full of scammers.

Never ever enter any Hotel room till you see the face of the person opening the door. Also best to carry only limited cash and leave all valuables back in your Room / car.

Stay safe guys, always be cautious in this hobby!

They took his wallet and took the entire money and left few 5 10 dirhams. Searched his wallet thoroughly for credit cards etc but nothing was available. Frustrated threw it back on his face. He left the place in a hurry and exited the hotel immediately.

Having heard many bad encounters with African girls in the forums, this is the first time I am hearing something of a planned extortion happening in an established hotel. Being in DXB for more than a decade, I haven't really come across unknown female inviting to a hotel room for services! He was confident that some of the hotel employees are also involved in this. It seems the security at the door was watching him eye to eye from the time he left the lift until excited the main door!

Fortunately for him, he was yet to get his bank account, credit cards etc and was living on his first month salary advance. Things would have been worse if he had lot of money and few credit cards!

He contacted me immediately to check if it is possible to report to police or local PRO and take any some action. Being a newbie and his visa stamping also still under process, I requested him to take it as an experience and forget it. Luckily for him the damage was only around AED 1,000.

Being a bit curious, I did look at that photo in his mobile, what a pic!
