Yes when you have 10 millions Turkish you are no more able to speak the reality, like in France with 10 millions Muslim very difficult to say there is a problem with the Islam, with the place of the women in the Muslim countries or Muslim families, with the democracy in Muslim country as so on, it is the price to pay, obviously in Poland, Hungary, Slovenia. The turning point for my brother was sometime in the late 1970's or early 80's (memory's getting a bit foggy now) he was badly beaten by some bouncers in a NYC brothel when he demanded his money back after he got very bad service from a hooker (I think it was more like no service). No disagreement there. The smoking bit was just an example of people making decisions that hinder their main motivation. Just as the obese man likely knows that his body habitus interferes with an active social and sexual life but chooses to eat the cake anyway. The smoker also knows that his habit substantially shortens his life but still smokes a whole pack anyway.

A person's main motivation may not be reflected by their actions, especially if the barrier of entry or activation energy requires substantial will power. Most people choose the easier path in life, despite any higher or deeper goals.
