After being away for almost half a year, I went back to the Sanur X-house aquariums and it seems that the correct going rate went up from 200 k to 250 k.

Kindly avoid spoiling this lower but amazing market, choose the girl and pay the right price to the guy with a smile, without asking how much you have to pay. It's a hit-and-miss affair, some girls are gems, others are simply boring and poor performers.

Recommended tipping rates: poor performance 0 k, normal performance 50 k, good performance and GFE 100 k, exceptional performance and GFE 150 k (or more maybe?

Any comments, confirmation?

I used the grab app recently in Bali from the airport to Sanur.

When I met the driver he took me to his car and it was a taxi!

The fare on the app was Rp120 K but by the time I arrived at the hotel in Sanur the driver said there were airport parking fees and tolls etc to be added and the final charge was Rp170 K.

The original quoted fare in the Grab app never includes parking and toll fees. In this particular case the driver should have added 4.000 rupiah parking fee + 11.500 rupiah toll = 15.500 rupiah. Including a small tip I would have added 20.000 rupiah. So yes, this driver has been cheating you.

I believe there is a parking fee they have to pay to enter the airport, but I suspect passengers are being asked to pay for it both upon pickup and drop-off, so they are essentially pocketing one parking fee. It's not much though, maybe 5-10 K, perhaps even 15 K, I can't quite remember. More than that is definitely a scam.

If you check the bill on grab you will see that these parking or toll fees are included in the bill, so if the driver ask these bills in addition to the grab bill it's a scam.

I learn that after having paid several parking fees on request from the driver, up to one driver who paid all fees himself and never ask any supplement. I hired him to drive me everyday after that for 500 k per day, anywhere around all Bali. I can find his contact I guess but was in 2016.

Some Grab drivers are pulling that stunt these days.

It should not be a cent more than what is quoted, its usually so cheap I will tip them well, but give no extra when they try to increase it.

Make it know when you rate them, do a report as the company frowns on it I believe.

Thanks for your recommendations. It's just a long lay over on a Sunday. I will not be staying at any hotel.

Last time I took a note and called a guy for a guided tour among hundreds posted at Denpasar airport. The guy gave a me a good private day tour by myself for something like $20, including Ubud, the monkey park, dance troops, lunch at a restaurant on a mountain peak overlooking the volcano, visits to various temples, farms, fishing villages and batik shops, then dinner with show in Denpasar. That was a very good deal.

Wonder If tour guides still post their ads at the airport? Any bro knows if I can still find these ads at Denpasar airport?
