But I wonder if it's practical to bring a girl back to BB with me since it looks like a 45-minute taxi ride. Are there short term or low cost rooms available in Sousa I can rent as needed (maybe for 3-5 hours)?
I suppose I could bring a girl back to BB for an overnight, but that seems more risky and problematic.
Finally, is there a Chica "market" in nearby Puerto Plata? Maybe a smaller version of Sousa?

Also, they sometimes bring in their own girls; you don't have to only choose BB girls.
Then again, some guys stay at BB during the week (when it is slow in Sosua) then go to Sosua Friday and Saturday then return to spend the weeknights at BB.
Everybody does it differently.

I have stayed at BB on 2 ocassions. I will never go back. 10 days would be torture. IMHO the girls were ok nothing spectacular. On average 10 to 20 girls a shift. You have to wait for the 3 or 4 stars. There is no excitement because the girls do the same waiting game 365 days a year. After 3 days you will have seen all the girls and eaten all good meals they have. The high point is it is a controlled enviroment so you will not be scammed. The pricing is fixed and fair. The food is decent. The negatives: most of the girls are ok but you are in competition with the other guests for the real winners. After a few days you will have fully explored the menu for girls and food. Once I went to Sosua and saw abou 300 girls and scores of places to eat I was done with BB. You do have to be on the watchout for the bad chicas but they are few and easy to spot most often. In truth it fills more like you are hunting and being hunted. Big fun for me. I will bet the house you are going to be bored to death after 3 days in BB. Let me say for some guys BB is the perfect place. If you are socially challenged or not comfortable approaching women BB is a God send. However if you got any game left in you check out Sosua for day.

Big thanks to all posters for trip reports and advice for optimizing a visit to BB. I just booked 10 days there In July and expect to have a blast (or 10).
I don't have a subscription yet (two CC's were declined. Probably my banks fearing non-US charges) but I will find a way to get subscribed sometime in June. Figure it's a good idea in case someone wants to pm me or I need to pm someone about the finer points of planning my trip.

Contact BB and ask if they have any recommendations for "overflow" for a couple of days.
once found an AIR BNB option available in Costambar. Look it up. Condos in Costambar for rent. You could hang at BBs, and get "take out" to your rented apartment for a small fee.

Posts: 319Wifi is much better than before.
However, you WILL have a few interruptions in service every day, some will last a few minutes, others a few hours. Local sim card with 4 g is a must in your case. Data package are reasonably priced in DR.

Posts: 98Please talk to me about the wifi
Being that I work for my company from home, I'm thinking of doing a week at Blackbeards, without my company knowing that I left the country. When I did Blackbeards back in 2009, I also tried something similar, but the problem was that the wifi at Blackbeards was only decent when I sat outside my room. In my room, it was horrible due to the brick walls. For the telephone, I used magicjack back then, but that depended on the internet, so since I had to sit outside and outside had a lot of noise, well let's just say things didn't go well. People being heard speaking spanish in the background is a little suspicious, right? So for 2019, can someone please give their opinion on the wifi and if it works well within the room? I really need to work within a quiet room, then have a lot of fun with the girls at night. Also any suggestion concerning the phone, where I don't have to depend on the wifi, but the price for the call will still be low calling the Usa from DR?
Thanks for your help!

Yes, well done Marvin Hinton. You still have not told me whether you are the real Marvin Hinton. If so, I saw your debut.

Posts: 252 weeks at BB thoughts.
Much thanks to the reviews and guidance from those who plowed this path before. My observations from 2 weeks at BB.
1. Airport: POP is a small and easy airport. The 50 DOP / USD exchange rate makes transactions bilingually fluent. In fact, at the Bar Room where I had lunch, they were short on DOP and had to provide change in USD. Didn't touch the exchange booths at the airport. True anywhere you can do better on rates if you can hold off.
2. Transit: credit to Colbert1 for recommending Nexus Tours. 22 USD roundtrip. I had plenty of what-ifs running through my head but everything was smooth as can be. Both shuttles were well AC'd. 3 others on the shuttle going, me solo coming back so very comfortable. Out of the airport, it was even easier than looking for a guy in in orange shirt at the airport since they had a booth right outside the doors. My flight was delayed 2 hours but they didn't blink an eye. Greeter spoke great English. On the return, the driver was 10 minutes early and pick-up was directly in front of BB. The only hassle didn't have to do with Nexus Tours but figuring out how to use the phone card + BB house phone to confirm the reservation 24 hours ahead of my departure. Fortunately, the staff helped me on punching in the phone card procedures. Never had to touch a taxi.
3. Rooms: I went for the deluxe single. Comfortable. Big bed. Sure an occasional insect scurrying across the floor, but adjusted for expectations, nice set-up. Hot water takes a minute to work, but all's good. In-room safe felt secure. Not a lot of drawers for clothes, but I travel light. A minor thing is the mini fridge they have in the room roars to life occasionally disrupting sleep. Easily solved by unplugging the thing.
4. Pool & hot tub: plenty of lounge chairs to catch some sun without having to deal with the lounge chair renters on the beach. Didn't touch the pool or hot tub. Although the idea of the hot tub being a free for all makes me cringe at the idea of soaking in there.
5. Beach: nice span of beach. Every day plenty of people but not crowded. A number of restaurants and bars littered across the beach.
6. Restaurants: almost every restaurant's menu is standard fare burgers, pizza, pasta, and stuff you'd find an in American restaurant. Multiple people have recommended Pascuals, which I enjoyed. Only a couple of times have I seen Dominican specific dishes. Prices are probably on par with your average suburban restaurant in the US.
7. BB: nice set-up. Great people. Casual. Meals here are convenient and prices on par or slightly higher than outside. As expected, convenience items are more expensive. 150 DOP of generic Cialis can be bought for 100 DOP are the pharmacy, 100 DOP for a Gatorade is 50 DOP at Jenny's etc. A bottle of water here costs more than a gallon at Jenny's. Etc. Standard convenience premium.
8. Jenny's: nice stroll towards the gates. Has everything I needed. Exchange rate was a 50.20 DOP / USD throughout my stay. There's a bit of a side hustle for excursions into the city which I didn't delve too much into.
9. Los Mangos golf course: didn't partake in the golf, but did use their gym every day. 2 working treadmills that need some waxing and adjustments. Half a dozen circuit machines. 4 spinning bikes. A yoga studio. (surprisingly) flat / include bench press, but no squat rack. Mini pool outside. Always just walked in never accosted. Although occasionally there's a dude sitting in the front that looks like he's there to check ID.
10. Girls: wide selection, although pretty much the same ones every day. Some cluster and just chat amongst themselves, others are more proactive. I prefer smaller frames and enjoyed Kathy & Frescita & Celeste, also Rosie, China. Experiences are all pretty standard. BBBJ, CFS, massage if I ask for it. I didn't really have any unique tastes, but the mamasans would have been a good resource. Apparently the girls had to fill out a form upon joining that indicates their dos / don'ts and the mamasan would be the most direct way to access that knowledge. The book is only a book of photos, not of profiles.
11. Costambar: very safe. Walking all over at all points in the day. Compared with Thailand and Philippines, surprised at seeing zero panhandlers. And even the people selling stuff on the beach aren't that pushy. A couple of clusters of young adults that seem to be vacationing with family, but most of those around look quite elderly. BB feels more like an island of adult fun in a sea of a normal retirement beach place, vs. In Angeles it's everywhere. Makes me wonder if people there know about the operations at BB.
Overall, I had a great time. I'm the type to get into a routine to relax. Every day: gym, beach, food, etc. With the girls just being one part of it. Would recommend.
