Firstly: Hotel staff know pretty well what guests are up to. No use trying to hide any "naughty" activities from them. Staff also talk amongst them so what one staff member knows, very quickly others know. Believe me, I speak from more than 20 years of experience in many hotels in a lot of towns.

Just stayed last week in Century Park Hotel in Jakarta and found in my room a paper: "Prostitution, gambling and drugs are illegal and therefore prohibited in this hotel" and a lot of nonsence about visitors to your room have to be registered, no ladies after 11 pm, etcetera bla bla bla. Walked with three different girls in two days past the reception without any problems (or registration). So as long as you don't expect to meet your parents or neighbours in the reception area: Chears to the walk and the hell with the shame.

Secondly: What's this "Walk of Shame" nonsense? Are you ashamed of taking a girl to your room? Then don't do it. Do you want to take a girl to your room? Then act as if you are a man and just walk with her past the reception and through as many corridors as may be neccessary. Believe me, the reception girls (and men) will notice but will not raise even one eyebrow. Security will also notice (that's what they're there for) but will also not give a damn as long as the girl is accompanied by someone who is supposed to be there (I. E. You). So what is the problem?

Agreed, am learning how Indonesians work slowly.

That dreadful duplicity with Javanese that means you can never get a straight answer from them also means that they are the most tolerant and lovely people you could ever meet.

So it's chin up eyes forward and look the receptionist in the eye as you stride on past. Who knows, maybe she needs a top up to the salary ha ha.

I don't know if anybody else has this same problem but nowadays I ask the girl to walk next to me beforehand. Otherwise they can trail along behind you like a lost puppy.

caught the train to Semarang.

Stayed at Gumaya towers. This hotel is nice but designed by leading walk of shame type architect. Long walk down lobby & round past reception on the way to the lifts. Not easy to sneak chicken into hotel in daytime or early evening.

All in all, I can't say from what I have seen so far, I would recommend Semarang to anybody.

Were there any problems bringing "chickens" around with you at the hotel and other places? Or hanging out with them in public places?

Were you able to find better and more activities at other locations around town?

Ironic part of this was not easy to find chicken either. after reading about Simpang Lima & Semarang was expecting happy time but finding chicken was hard work. hugos at plaza simpang lima was pretty much empty . a couple of girls but not sure if WL or not.

took taxi up the hill to a few houses. tried 4 houses, 2 had no girls at all or maybe didn't want to do bule. 2 had a few but in all searching, saw only 2 passable girls. 2 separate places. both wanted 1 million for long time, 4 and 6 hours respectively. Declined.

had a look at the dolly type district but by this time late 2AM. girls mostly looked a bit hard bitten to me & hard to determine young chicken from old in shadows.

finally checked some porky street girls in Simpang Lima, not far from Gumaya Towers. definitely not!

Back to Hugos 0250AM. still very few girls.

Did you take in any of the nightclubs, whats the 'go' now. I was there last in nov last year and hugo's was the in place. It used to be 123 at novotel or tios at ciputra, which is now closed I believe. Starqueen always used to be good, but not if you were looking for an early pick up.

I was in Semarang recently and expected to be unsuccessful on several counts based on the fact that it was the middle of the month of Ramadan.

I stayed at Hotel Santika, conveniently situated near to the Simpang Lina junction.

I went 'Mall hunting' at 4 in the afternoon, to find a lot of potentially good looking FL's hanging around the Cinema area. I struck up a conversation with a few of them, one offered me a BBBJ on the back row of the movie of my choice, for the price of a ticket. Problem is the cinema was not selling tickets until after buka puasa, she refused my offer of a short walk back to my hotel for the same service in front of Star Movies TV.

I spend the last two nights in Semarang. Arriving at about 18:30 in the Novotel after a day driving though remote areas in Central Java. After a shower I went to Shinta Spa at Hotel Rinjani. The place was apparently very busy and only 5 girls were in the fish tank when I arrived. Picked No 21. Went upstairs and only one large room was available and a few small rooms. (Large room is Rp 85,000 and small room is Rp 75,000 (for the girl you have to pay Rp 200,000)). Picked the large room. After a common shower with BBBJ we went to the bed and continued. She was OK, made the right moves and noises, but all in all a bit mechanical.

After that back to Novotel. Had to go out for dinner with clients. After I got rid of them it was already 23:30 and I went to 123 Club (in Novotel). They had a band playing and about 15 woman their but most looked like real hard core hookers or were to old and fat for my taste. Drank couple of beers and called it a night.

Next day had to visit suppliers, worked all day and came back to Hotel for dinner. Went to 123 Club at about 23:30 again. This night had the same band, but a better selection of girls. Called a cute one over. She was about mid-twenty and had a friend in tow. Wasn't too interested in the friend but kept drinking with both of them. Both girls were quite good fun to be with. Took the cute to my room at about 01:30. She was a great performer. A real lucky pick. Had too leave early this morning so let her go at about 07:30.

back in the 'rang for a few days, its been over a year.

123, rinjani etc closed on sunday night (can't recall if they always did, i think 123 opened all week, i stay at the novotel), but starqueens was open. got there 1230, nothng happening, so got my cabby to take me to 'ruang wanita'. he took me to 3 houses near simpang lima, with prices from 400-800, 000. the girls were pretty and young enough, but obviously none of them enjoyed what was happening so i didn't play, and it was far too expensive for the 'rang.

finally at 1.45 we ended up in a complex near the airport. 2 streets with girls sitting in front of houses. price was 100, 000. except for bule. 150, 000 plus 20, 000 'approval stamp' from the boss. anyway, plenty of selection, wide age bracket, but no unattractive ones, i settled on a 28yo (much younger around if you want), good gfe and no objection to bbbj, cim. all the time she wanted to ride it, but i just wanted bj. i asked to have her partner come in as well but she wasn't keen on a 3some. now, you want the name of the street. i don't know yet, but it was something like argoredjo. i will be going back later in the week, will not be as pissed and will write the name down, but if you hop in a cab and ask for jalan wanita dekat bandara, they know where to take you. not many bule thou and i copped lots of furry eyeball looks from the many minders in the street who maintain law and order in the area.

my one-night tour of semarang, on a recent tuesday. thanks to “rtff” (especially the useful reports by field mouse), i was able to see several different places:

1) graha spa: (mentioned in a post by desmondthom below) when i arrived at semarang airport, i was greeted by two spg’s (sales promotion girls) who were handing out flyers for this spa right in the baggage area, pretty much a giveaway that this place is legit and at best hj-only. the flyer included photos of three guys in a sauna and two guys each receiving massages (one foot, one back massage) from male masseurs, not the most enticing prospect. so i never bothered to check out this place.

2) my hotel’s massage spa: i stayed at the santika premiere, right downtown just 50 meters from the center of town at simpang lima (where the “po-ci” tea shops are located). the hotel spa was part of the club arena chain, which is normally a straight massage-only place, often times not even a hj, never more than that, so i did not bother.

3) tea shop girls: i had a local driver during the day, so i asked him about the “po-ci” tea shops with the “ciblek” young girls at simpang lima that were mentioned in the post by the exile. he laughed and said that they were only in operation beginning thursday evening, and since i was in town on a tuesday evening, i was out of luck.

4) “houses”: around 10 p.m., a taxi driver took me to four separate places where girls are available for take-away to your hotel. the first three places had only 35-ish women, and only a total of 4 women for all 3 places, i quickly passed on all. the fourth place had only one very young-looking girl who had a terrified look on her face once she saw that i was a foreigner, so i passed on her as well.

the first two places asked for 400,000 rupiah for short-time then dropped to 350,000 rupiah, the last two places started at an amazing 500,000 rupiah for short-time, quickly dropped to 400,000 rupiah once i started bargaining in bahasa indonesian. still, too high!

5) shinta spa at hotel rinjani: by the time i got here (almost 11 p.m.) they were closing for the night. there were two ladies wearing uniforms standing by the front door, not sure if they were masseuses or receptionists, but both were over 30 and unattractive.

6) jalan argorejo vii: this is a “miniature dolly” -like street near the airport, mentioned by field mouse in his report six months ago. it’s one long block on a narrow hilly street, with around 100-125 girls sitting in groups of 5-8 in front of several local houses (each girl lives in a room in the house, similar to the dolly setup). there’s also a karaoke pub named barbie’s doll house halfway up on the right that was closed by the time i was there (11:20 p.m.).

the percentage of decent-looking girls was higher than i thought it would be, at least 50 percent of the girls were in their early 20s and decent-looking (no obviously-**** girls here). there were several taxis at the foot of the hill and a strong sense of security and organization here. i appeared to be the only bule (foreigner) there.

i walked up and down the entire street for several minutes, ended up picking a 20 year old named setya, from solo (near yogyakarta), cute face, chunky body (but something very nice about her), from one of the houses towards the bottom of the hill. the price was as field mouse mentioned, 150,000 rupiah for a foreigner, with a 15,000 rupiah “security” fee (not sure what this is, maybe a bribe to the local police?). i asked one mamasan if they charged locals only 100,000 rupiah, she insisted that everyone was charged 150,000 (i didn’t believe her).

when we were outside we spoke only in bahasa indonesian, but once we got into her room, i discovered that setya spoke excellent english, seemed very educated, and was very pleasant to be with. she showed me a certificate stating that, in december 2007 she had attended a 4-day training program co-conducted by the australian and us governments on safe sex and the dangers of hiv/aids (i know one of the persons who signed the certificate!). setya was very proud of her certificate and stated that all of the girls in her house would only have sex with condoms.

she said that she had worked there for almost a year, works seven nights a week, from 7 p.m. until 1 or 2 a.m., usually only one customer per night, most ever was 3 one night, and she hates her job. i was her first foreigner, she said that she rarely sees foreigners on the street.

the actual session was excellent, outstanding cowgirl performance. if setya were in jakarta, i’d definitely see her regularly! afterwards, we cuddled and talked for a long time, the session went well over an hour. very much like being with a girlfriend or a freelancer who i already knew, not at all like what i’d expect from a stranger in such a low-end neighborhood. she even gave me her e-mail address and asked me to keep in touch, interesting!

7) street action near simpang lima/my hotel: got to my hotel, realized i didn’t have any water to brush my teeth, so i walked outside to the little carts and food stalls down the street in front of the simpang lima park to buy some water. there were two pimps sitting on motorcycles, each with a fairly decent looking girl on the back of the cycle. starting price was 300,000 rupiah short-time in my hotel room, but setya had drained me so i did not partake. after i bought my water, both motorcycles trailed me back to the hotel, i guess business was slow that night.

8) i never checked out any night clubs, nor did i go mall-hunting. sorry!
