I got a message from Claro saying that if I don't register my phone, it'll be blocked. ... The only documents accepted, according to the guy at Claro, are local and foreigner cedulas. Assuming no Colombiano is going to give you their cedula to use, what can you do?

Earlier this year I went to the Claro store in the Los Molinos mall and registered my phone with my US passport. The lady who registered it could very well have used someone's cedula, but my passport was the only ID I gave her. That office has some people who don't know how to deal with foreigners. I went there to buy a data plan and was told I have to have a Colombian cedula. After some discussion and him consulting with another person, he allowed me to enter and I bought the plan without a problem.

Since it's Medellin, most of the flavor in town is paisas or a few vennies. Out of curiosity, are Asian chicas or white / eastern European / Russian chicas available anywhere in Medellin?

Granted it has been a while since I have been in Colombia but yes my Canadian bank card worked in the ATMs of the larger banks and at that time there was no exchange fee. There is now. If you want to get US dollars without getting tagged for the exchange fee. You can use the Norbert gambit if you have a stock trading platform and a US dollar account. Just buy a dual traded stock on the TSX. Transfer it to your US trading account and it will be converted at todays exchange. Cash it into your US dollar account and save the 2 percent exchange fee- saves about 180 on $10 k. Really not worth doing unless you are exchanging a lot of money.

I am almost set up to do that. Have all the accounts set up except the US cash account within my brokerage accounts. Could set up a sweep account for my US trading account, and then transfer it out to a US dollar bank account hopefully.

But before I can register with my US passport, but now neither the *611# (star 611 pound) USSD method, nor the Mi Claro app would accept my passport. Going to a Claro store and waiting for an hour didn't help either. The only documents accepted, according to the guy at Claro, are local and foreigner cedulas. Assuming no Colombiano is going to give you their cedula to use, what can you do? Sure if you leave Colombia before 30 days you won't have an issue, until you come back with the same phone.

I suggest you try another Claro office, albeit this may be a new policy about who can register a phone. Another issue is that if you don't use your phone or buy data or recharge it with money you will lose the number after 60 days regardless whether it's registered or not.

A friend of mine bought a phone in Medellin and the shop registered it for him somehow and he was in Medellin for 60 days.

So you might go to a phone shop and ask for assistance, they may have some way to help you, especially if you grease the skids with some Plata.

And stay away from Tigo as a carrier, they don't seem to have many offices.

This happened in Boca Chica in the DR and I've never had anything like that in Centro.

I had an instance where a girl demanded more money from me not because of anything I did, but because she thought she could extort the money from me threatening to call the police. So I turned tha tables on her, told her I will tell the Police that she robbed me, and that I would pay her what we agreed to but not inside the room but in reception and she finally agreed.

I made it through Gate 60 in MIA always an interesting spot it's really 10 mini gates combined into one gate anybody who goes thru there knows what I'm talking about.

I arrived in Medellin July 24th, returned yesterday. I have 10 days left on this year's tourist visa made abundantly clear to me by the emigration official in the Medellin airport as I was leaving.

Anyone with a cursory understanding of the limits on tourist visas knows that means I'm about to have one full year of boots-on-the-ground in Medellin after my next return planned for Christmas Day. But hopefully for me that won't matter because by then I should have an immigration visa and not a tourist visa.

I took my laptop and a tablet in today to the computer shop to be repaired. My voice dictation seems to be working pretty good now but I'm going to wait till I get my laptop back before I post the details about about that police sting that I got trapped in and the girl about whom believe it or not I still want to see yeah I'm crazy like that.

I completely understand why certain people would have a hard time understanding or believing what I've been through especially the more mundane minds among you. I would have a hard time believing it myself except it happening to me, I am living it, and it's been like this my entire life. I always have been living life on the edge well not exactly, I jump off the edge over the cliff, scramble back up to the top stake my claim, draw a line, and dare everybody else to cross it. And I'm only reporting the mountain tops. If I showed or told you what was really going on in detail of my life pretty much no one would believe me except my acquaintances and friends who have met me and there's no doubt with them about my veracity.

At my current rate I will have fucked way more regular girls in my life by dating than I have by mongering for pay-for-play. My three vehicles all started up and turned like kittens and includes two antique sports car so that's not that has not always been the case and I'm happy about that. I keep them all on battery tenders while I'm gone and I'm a strong believer in that. Update and corrections to the guy calling the police on the girl.

Nobody knows what happened in the room. Case of she said he said. Small probability that the guy liked it rough or kinky and that the girl did not want. Higher probability was a communication issue. Highest probability would be she shorted the service time or functions agreed to. I had her twice with no problems but I am pretty vanilla.

They have an argument in front of the office where she loses face and is embarrassed. I was there. He threatened to call the police but still paid her 50,000. They leave.

Board member tells me she went to him to explain what happened. Guess she was not satisfied and turned her lose of face to anger because SHE then walked over to the police. She got the police involved. Claimed the guy with the cane did not pay her. Went back to the hotel and the receptionist verified that she was paid so she did not get the extra 50,000 that she wanted.

Hate to see all that happen to both of them. It was a lose-lose for everyone.

They allows but not naked. In Cucuta and Bogota everything is allowed.

My bad review was very accurate and specific with many issue with the apartment but don't believe google review everything is amazing there. You want quality and problem free go to Asia.
