One of the more frustrating things about trying to use the potential power of online dating to narrow it down to what you want. Nothing entered by the lovely ladies in the height, weight or location fields has any meaning and should generally be regarded as pure fiction. Often this is not intentional; I have personally never encountered women deliberately lying about being tall, but I have no problem believing it is a thing. Vastly common though, is a total genuine ignorance of what their basic physical specifications are. In all but the most rare cases they are just guessing. Typical exceptions include professional models and highly educated (lol) women who can use a ruler and scale. I would argue that that is a better sort criteria for whether they are in Manila or not, than is their claim that they are in Manila..

The problem is not like in the western world where they are lying, the problem is that they don't know. Location is often misrepresented but is equally often misinterpreted "Province" = what province are you from? No it doesn't darling, where are you now? Sadly the half-ass way of answering any question with whatever bullshit comes to mind, renders a lot of the potential search functionality of dating apps useless. Hilariously, searching women who have tagged themselves "tall", is about as likely to render women who have entered in their profile for whatever reason "I am not tall", and then chosen "tall" as a suggested tag (thank you Filipino Cupid.).

Tldr: at least 95% of the population honestly doesn't know their height or weight, but will give a retarded non-answer anyway. Locations is a crap shoot.

I had some free time last week so I browsed through this site again (I have a monthly m / ship).

For background, I have the search function set to Location: Manila within 30 kms, Age: 30 yo +, Height: 160 cm +, and I just said "any weight".

Found 3 attractive women; 2 were 5 ft 8 ins, one was 5 ft 7 ins. All were keen to chat and it seemed promising UNTIL I started interrogating them.

All 3 were not in Manila, despite their profile saying Manila. In fact, they were miles away. One was in Roxas City; one in Butuan, Mindanao and the 3rd was in Leyte.

None of them were tall. All 3 admitted to inflating their heights (2 were just 5 ft; one was 5 ft 2 ins). One admitted to "just guessing", but for the other 2 I suspect it was a deliberate ploy.

All said they were "So sorry" when I said they were lying in their profiles, but only one changed her profile to reflect where she actually lives and her correct height.

Just to repeat a warning I have given before about those who use chat sites (in this case, Pinalove). Ask them about their profiles early in your chat, especially "What is your actual location now?

Putting in information that will at least attract some contact (like residence in Manila and being taller than normal) seems to be a much more common mode of operation than it used to be. My m / ship expires on Dec 27 and I won't be renewing.

Because your idea of mainstream might not jibe with their reality. Haven't you noticed that in Asia, the apps they use varies greatly from country to country? And with a cheap phone that they can afford, with its limited RAM they can only load so many apps now that phones come bloated with unwanted hardware, you barely have enough room to load all the apps you actually need unless you pony up for a serious phone.

Have you tried IMO yet? Its popular in the PI, its pretty light and can do video on a limited or weak Wifi, where Whatsapp will fail completely.
