Reminds me, in parts, of my nube days in SJ when I was young and "smart" and full of cum, 20 before the internet. Hunt the * via boots on the ground, looking for some messed up description of an "address" I got from a friendly, local or one of us, hahahaha. Nothing really localized or well known / patronized by hundreds of gringos like in the "gulch" now. A lot of stuff away from centro. A lot of mama-san "homes for wayward girls", hahahaha, but that's often what it amounted to, like extended family pads. This is my first trip in CR. This time also mark my first year as a monger. I started in DR last year in August 2014, then followed with Medellin in October 2014, Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta in December 2014, Medellin and Barranquilla again in May 2015 and now CR in August 2015. This has been a truly fantastic year! As always my reports are long so I warn you guys to stop reading if you don't like reading and skip it all.

The flight.

I booked my flight through google flights https://www.google.com/flights/ and paid about $480 purchased a month in advance for a round trip from JFK / NYC to San Jose with a stop in Fort Lauderdale. I got Jet blue and this airline rocks with great service, laptop computers to use at JFK, spacious plane, wifi on plane, and free movies / entertainment and lots of free chips, cookies and soda / water. On Spirit airline they give you shit and those planes are tiny.

Day 1 Tuesday Arrival in San Jose, the fun begins.

ATM / Exchange.

I arrived at 11 am in San Jose. I found an ATM of Nova Scotia bank. With my Capital one card https://home.capitalone360.com/ Igot 100000 colones or 200 USD at a 526 colones per dollar including 1500 colones ATM fee or 3 USD. I did not get charge any fees from Capital one, same no fees as in the DR and Colombia.

I travel light so I went outside the airport with my small backpack for a walk to see if there were public buses heading to San Jose. I found just a block away from the airport the San Jose / Alajuela bus stop. This bus takes you straight to the city center for 800 colones or just 40 cents. I was glad I ditched the expensive airport taxi as I often do whenever I travel. The ride took about 45 minutes in a big bus full of local people. On the bus, I chatted with a friendly local next to me who oriented me as we travelled. Once in the city center, I started to look for a place to stay. I decided to go for a walk near the center of the action or where de Del Rey Hotel http://www.delreyhotel.com/ and the Morazan hotel http://www.hotelcostaricamorazan.com/ and Morazan park were all located. First I found the Morazan Hotel on 1st Avenue and 7th Street. I could smell the mold just I as I walked to the reception area. The location seem very seedy and I did not like the area at all. A lot of strange individuals outside and it was just 1 pm. I decided to walk out after the mold smell at the lobby and seeing too many strange characters and bums outside in such a seedy area that it was a turn off to me. Next I went to the DelRey on Avenida 1 between calle 9 why 11 to see if it was worth staying there for one night. It was located just a block away from El Morazan so this area was not different. There were two girls sitting outside at the entrance steps of DelRey and they smiled at me. A gringo was sitting with them. I walked in and there was a security guard at the entrance who checked me out. I looked at the bar and saw some older guys drinking and some some good looking girls in there but not many were walking inside. One girl approached me and started chatting with me, but I did not pay her much attention as I did not like her and she left. I decided to walk out and did not buy any drinks. It was too early anyway to start drinking and I also needed to find a place to stay. I noticed the Key Largo Bar as I walked away from DelRey http://www.sanjosecostarica.com/nigh...key-largo-bar/ I did not like this area at all so I decided to get the hell out. I also walked to the sportsmen lounge just out of curiosity https://www.sportsmenscr.com/ on Calle 13 and Avenue 9 A. I did go in and I did not like the area and seemed to be not that safe at night time.

I decided to continue walking towards another neighborhood and check out a hostel http://www.costaricabackpackers.com/ in a barrio called La California at ave 6 between calle 21 why 25 A. This area was awesome, clean, better class, and super safe, a police station a block away and the city court house in that are. As I walk in I found that the hostel had a pool, a bar and a restaurant and lots of white French cuties. It was a party hostel with lots of young travelers. The vibe in the place was great so I decided to book it, got a share room with other travelers for just 7000 colones or 14 USD per night, and made this my base. I met a black guy from Texas in his late forties and he said he has been hooking up with young white french girls hostelers. He said he was not mongering in CR, but mentioned that he did monger in Medellin and had stayed at the Mansion. He said he was doing find with the french girls at the hostel who happen to like black guys. Since I did not come to hook up with young hostelers I decided to get down to the mongering business. I noticed a short time motel two blocks from the hostel called Hotel La California at calle 19 between avenue 2 and 4 phone 2256-0972.

Locating pensiones.

To find places, I used WT69 listings, a mongering map I found at http://www.adultcostarica.net/ and checking the listings from http://costarica.adultsearch.com/san-jose/brothel and http://costarica.adultsearch.com/san...assage-parlor. My method of find finding places was simple mainly walking on my own and finding the neighborhoods and avenues and streets on my own extensive walking. I had to get use to the streets and avenues on San Jose which often make no sense whatsoever as they go up and down and in some neighborhood, they change from up and down. Most people in San Jose don't use this method of looking for addresses. They use things like 200 meters from the park or 300 meters from the church, etc. I found many places but some of the places were not there from both the WT69 listing and the mongering map, some have different names. I also found new places. I will list all here with the hope that some of the information get updated.

First 2 pensiones.

4:00 pm Checking New Fantasy on Avenue 9 and Calle 7, Barrio Amon.

This a high end type of pension located in a seedy area but during the day is okay to walk. It has a bar with nice music, a steam room, and sauna for those that pay the hour. There is a security outside. There were about 8 girls as I walked in. They were all sitting on sofas. Most of them stayed sitting and playing with their phones. I could not take a good look at them since most stay sitting. There was a pregnant girl who was the most friendly and gave me a tour of the place and told me the prices. I could not believe it when she told me she was on the menu because she look she was about to pop or give birth. Since I am not into pregnant women I decided to pass on her. She was also talking to me in dollars and I told her to speak to me in Colones because I was getting confused and did not like it. I drank a beer at the bar. I did not buy her any drinks. How could I if she is fucking pregnant. Most of the girls at the place remained sitting while I was drinking my beer. I was hoping they would get up so I could see them well. Finally, a nice looking spinner got up and I like her face and body features, but she was not that friendly with me. I called her anyway and she quickly agreed to go in with me to one of their rooms. The room did not have a bathrooms but a bathroom / showers were outside. The girl kept a serious face all the time while in the room which turned me off and then said that it was $40 USD or 20000 colones for haft an hour. The talk in dollars made me mad since we are in Costa Rica. I said to her no way and told her that the pregnant girl told me it was less money. I told her never mind, that I no longer wanted her service and apologize to her for asking her to go with me. I decided to walk out of the place. I think the girls in New Fantasy are spoiled by gringos who have been paying too much. The quality that date was not that good at New Fantasy anyway. In my mind, I was thinking that I should have taken the pregnant girl just for the experience.

5 pm PENSION MUSAS at Avenue 7 between Calle 3 why 3 A, Barrio Amon.

This place is unmarked with glass windows covered with curtains. Its a seedy area but during the day and night is fine to walk. There is an electronic sign at a window that read "Abierto" which means opened. The placed is next door to a party hostel called Pangea http://www.hostelpangea.com/ I rang a bell and a white girl with died red / violet color hair opened the door. There were 3 girls in the place and they looked at me and I looked at them. I felt a bit awkward as no one spoke and I am not use to this method of picking girls. No girls parading or doing an individual presentation like in Colombia. The girls just stood there in front of me and didn't say a word. Then I asked the girl with red hair if this was a pension and she said yes. She then smiled at me and said it was 12000 colones 24 USD for haft and 18000 or 36 USD colones for the hour. I loved that at last someone talked to me in Colones and not USD. She was on the menu and I took her. She had a banging body, nice ass and tits and a cute face. In the room she said 5000 colones or 10 USD if I wanted BBJ not charge for covered BJ. I took the hour service and extra BBJ service. The girl was affectionate all the way, gave me a nice massage and lots of kissing. I got a nice release. Day 2 Wednesday Checking out pensiones in barrio Soledad or el barrio Chino.

2 pm PENSION 1081 located at El Paseo de LOS Estudiantes, Barrio Chino / Soledad.

This pension is located in a street called el paseo de LOS estudiantes and is at the heart of a barrio Chino also known as SOLEDAD. I stumbled into this placed as I walked. It has no markings just another electronic "Abierto" sign. I walked in and there were two girls not that good looking for me and this from me a guy who is not that picky. I quickly walked out after they told me it was 12000 colones haft 24 USD and 18000 or 36 USD the hour. They were fat, older and ugly.

4 pm THE CLUB Panthera Ros (the pink panther) -http://clubpanterarosacr.com/.

Calle 9 (End of El Paseo de LOS Estudiantes) between Avenida 14 why 16.

I was looking for the club Panthera Rosa through El Paseo de LOS estudiantew. I found the Pantera Rosa next to a gas station at the end of the El paseo de estudiantes, but the place was closed as it opens after 10 pm and it was only 4 pm. Too early to be at the pink panter.

5 pm PENSION EROTICA #3 at Calle 9 A and Avenida 14, Barrio Soleda-Another new place.

After passing the Club Pantera Rosa I stumbled into Pension Erotica #3 and as soon as I saw another house with no markings and an electronic "Abierto" sign, I knew this was another pension or Casa. I don't think this place is listed on WT69 or the mongering map. I rang the bell and a young girl opened the door. She then told me it was 12000 colones for haft and 18000 for the hour. There were four girls looking at me and me looking at them. I am not longer feeling awkward at this method of picking girls. I saw a nice and liked a nice looking spinner from Nicaragua and I picked her for haft hour. I had a really good session, a BJ, and did her in several positions until I got my release. The room had a bathroom inside, nice bed, and clean place. I love a place with a bathroom inside the room. I Got the WhatsApp of the girl. Day 3 Thursday more pensiones in barrio Soledad / barrio Chino, some missing places?

Places I could not find or are no longer there.

1) Pension Mary's 1321 avenue 8- I could not find this place, there is no 1321 on avenue 8.

2) Arte y sauna on avenue 2 and calle 9, I could not find this place.

3) Sala Criss on calle 13 between avenue 10 and 12- could not find this place.

4) Mansion entre avenida 14 between calle 9 - 11-could not find this-the only place near this is pension erotica #3.

5) Fama- calle 13 between avenida 10 - 12-no such place. But there is a pension here called casa de Belleza in that block.

6) Sala Sybony calle 8 between avenida 14 and 16- there is no calle 8 or even number calles / streets in this area.

7) Pension Eros calle 11 between avenida 8 - 10 I could not find Eros. The only place at that same location is pension relax and across from relax is idem.

I found these pensions in barrio Soledad / Chino:

12 pm.

1) Casa de Belleza at calle 13 between avenida 10 and 12. It is located on a corner. It a big yellow house with no markings, but also has an "abierto" electronic sign. I think this place also has a beauty parlor inside. There were 3 girls in there. They were older or in their 30's and only one seemed to be in good shape. I picked the skinnier. She was from Nicaragua, dark hair and skin. She was really good, provided BJ, very affectionate, and knew how to tighten her pussy and control the dick that way stretching it with her pussy whenever she wanted. The service was 12000 colones or 24 usd. The room was clean. The bathroom was outside. I got a good release and left happy.

9 pm.

At calle 11 between avenue 8 and 10-place is across idem. This place is nice. Very clean. The rooms were clean. The bathrooms were outside the room. There were some good lookers in here and some not so good looking also. There were seven girls and they were all standing and sort of surrounded me until I picked one. They were friendly and most were smiling at me. I picked a white tica from Costa Rica. Same rate as the other pensions 12000 colones for haft hour and 18000 colones for the hour. She was not affectionate. I did not get a release this time. I banged her for 20 minutes in different positions but I was just sweating and I was out of leche. Any tips on how to increase leche production? I left disappointed not getting a release and felt I should have rested a day to get some leche for the next day.

940 pm.

I was walking looking for more pensions when I got into park and saw a large group of school teenagers in school uniforms surrounding two kids that were fully engaged in a fistfight. I decided to watch from the distance. One kid was getting beat up by the bigger one. I decided to walk away and to my luck just two blocks away, there were three cops on bicycles and the three were playing with their phones unaware of the fight nearby. I told then about the current fight in the park. They reacted quickly. They only asked me if they were students and I said yes. They quickly left on their bicycles to the park while one was using the radio calling for backup. I decided to follow them to watch how they operate. As soon as I got there there were like 15 police all in bicycles and a police car parked outside the park. I was impressed of how quick the response and support. The cops surrounded all the kids that were there and began somehow to interrogate them in the circle that they made. They started to let go the innocent kids that were just watching the fight or were not involved in the fight one by one and finally kept the main participants. I did not wait to see if they arrested the two kids that were fighting but my guess was that they were going to do it.

4 pm BAR Pension 69 https://pension69cr.wordpress.com/ On Avenida 10 (San Martin) entre calle 13 why 11 across from Ferreteria Jimenez. I think this place is not listed anywhere or is probably another new place in Barrio Soledad or El Barrio Chino.

This place opens daily from 10 am to 12 pm phone 2222-0255/8367-0976. This is very nice place with a bar if you want to drink before picking a girl. They also had a nice selection of girls when I went. There were five girls and 2-3 doable. I picked a Tica with a big round ass just as I like. She provided a good session. Nothing memorable, a quick BJ, she was good to finish her doggy style. 13000 colones or 26 USD for haft and 18000 or 36 USD for the hour. I like that the rooms have bathrooms and the place inside and bar is very cozy and clean. This place is a great place, better setting than Pension Musas, Relax and Casa de Belleza.

At night time I went out of curiosity to check Del Rey. There were lots of beautiful girls in there on Friday late at night. I just realize the girls at Del Rey are the same girls you get at the pensions for 12000 colones or 24 USD and at Del Rey they are asking for 50000 colones 100 USD or more. They just come dressed nicely for the night and because of the big competition. In the pensions they are not dressed as nicely and have less make up or none. I prefer the cheaper option. I drank a beer at DelRey while some girls kept checking me out and some were aggressive approaching me trying to get some business with me. The guys wereclearly out number by the girls. Many older guys and gringos here. I left after the first beer. As I was walking alone at 1 am and just a block from DelRey, three young questionable characters or bandidos / delinquents were looking at me. I passed them quickly. Two of the guys seemed to want to follow me, but I accelerated my pace and quickly lost them. I am a runner and always walk with running sneakers just in case. In that same area, I noticed another delinquent very busy and focused on taking the rims of a car. I met an emaciated junkie girl asking me for a coin and I gave her a couple of coins. It is interesting what you see late at night in that seedy area. Despite of what I saw, I did not find it as intimidating like El Centro Medellin late at night. I could have taken a taxi, but I don't like to take taxis and prefer walking anytime of the day. I got to Costa Rica backpacker hostel in barrio La California very quickly walking super fast. The delinquents don't come to Barrio La California that much, there is a police station and the Police is often patrolling all the time in pairs. I am glad I did not stay in the Del Rey area / Morazan / Barrio Amon area.

DAY 5 Saturday Mother's day a quick trip to Jaco, and another pension in San Jose.

Because I wanted to go to JACO in the afternoon, I was looking for a pension in the morning that would open early:

1) 10 AM PENSION JETSET 70 E Avenida 7 and near Calle 1 on Located in a seedy area of barrio Amon.

I entered the place and there were two ugly girls that greeted me. I quickly walked out thinking hell no.

2) 1015 am PENSION KRYSSYS on Avenue 7, between Calle 2 and Central-Another seedy location of Barrio Amon. I went in and amadam at the door told me that the girls have not arrive as of yet.

3) 1030 AM PENSION MALIBU on Calle 3 between Avenida 7 and 9. Another seedy area. The Amistad bar is on corner of Calle 3 and Ave 7. This pension is just a few houses down the Amistad bar. A lady in her forties and bad shape answered the door and told me she was the only one available for 12000 haft or 24 USD and 18000 or 36 USD for the hour. I said to myself no way Jose so I left quickly.

4) 11 AM I ended up going back to PENSION MUSAS Avenue 7 between Calle 3 why 3 A, Barrio Amon and found the red hair girl I got on my first day. I had a quick 30 min session with her for 12000 colones. The place had three doable girls. I was in a hurry because the bus to Jaco was leaving at 1145 pm so was the one rushing the session.

After the session, I had to take a taxi to the new transportation terminal (7-10) located on Avenue 7 and was able to get the busto Jaco. The bus was 2,475 colones or less than 5 dollars. I was in Jaco in about 2 1/2 hours. I stayed at the http://hostelbuddhahouse.com/Budha atPastor Diaz main Avenue, facing El Bohio Street. This place is located in the center of the city, a block away from the beach and to the El cocal http://www.hotelcocalandcasino.com/. The hostel beds are clean and is super cheap 9000 colones or 18 USD for shared dormitories. This place has a bar, restaurant and a pool, and cool travelers, many surfers. This place is really good. One person told me also that you could bring a girl here if you book a private room. I booked a shared room as I was on cheap mode and also did not have any leche left for the girls. At night time, I befriended a brazilian guy traveler and I told him about the Cocal Hotel being a mongering ground and if he wanted to check it out with me. We then went out and the place was jamming with great music and lots of girls. The best area in the Cocal is where they have a bar and something that looks like two pools and were the DJ plays the music. There were more than 30 girls walking around the area, clearly outnumbering the guys. Lots of guys at the bar too. The girls were not that aggressive. Me and the friend drank a couple of beers and just kept looking at the girls enjoying the parade. One Dominican girl approached me and we chat a little bit. She was not that hot as the others so I did not pay her much attention and she left. My new friend was approached by tall black Tica girl and he pretended to be interested and began negotiating with her. She started with 50000 colones or 100 USD for 2 hours. He brought it down to 25000 colones or 50 USD, kept telling her that he was not rich and that she was going to get a Brazilian guy in bed who knew Zamba whatever that meant. But we did not pick any girl and we left after an hour. Then we checked a Club called Orange http://www.visitjacocostarica.com/after-dinner.html and that place was awesome, loud, full of local people and tourists, the music and sexi dancers on stage were just fantastic. The place was packed and people were getting drunk. We met 3 local women in their 30's 40's who wanted to party. After Orange close, the local girls took us to another party place at CROCS http://crocscasinoresort.com/restaurant-bars/bars/ to continue partying till 5 am. Me and the friend almost got drunk. There was no getting laid with the local girls. After partying we exchanged numbers and we all took a taxi ride to our places.

DAY 6 Sunday back to San Jose.

I checked the Jaco Beach in the morning. That beach is made for surfing not really for swimming. The waves are too high to swim. There were a lot surfers in the morning. I had to go back to San Jose to sleep because I wanted to go La Fortuna the next day, Monday. I got to San Jose at 5 pm. I decided to take advantage of the little time I have left so I made a stop at:

It is a 45 minutes easy hike. I took a bus to la Fortuna. It is about 5 dollars. The ride is long and it takes about 4-5 hours. Once in La Fortuna, I stayed at http://www.arenalhostelresort.com/ This place is located in the center of town. It has a pool, a restaurant, comfortable beds, clean place and cool people. At night time, I checked out a hot spring located 5 KM from the hostel called http://www.termalitasdelarenal.com/. This place is really good for 4000 colones to spend the day using the termales, it has a bar, a restaurant, and lots of good local people come here. I also found a great local place to eat near the terminal and next to supermarket called http://www.sodalahormiga.com/hormigas cheap and great local food. It was packed with local people eating.

DAY 8 Tuesday back to San Jose.

In the morning I overslept and I missed a group hike to the volcano Arenal and Springs that I found at http://www.redlavatouristservicecenter.com/en/.

After that I decided to take taxi back to the termalitas Spring and spent two hours there, then I went to eat lunch at Soda La Hormiga. After that took a 5 hours bus back to San Jose. I was back in San Jose at 6 pm. I had time for one more Pension visit. I went to the Pension I like best of all I visited which was:

Bar Pension 69 https://pension69cr.wordpress.com/ On Avenida 10 (San Martin) entre calle 13 why 11 across from Ferreteria Jimenez, Barrio Soledad / Chino. I met another nice looking Nicaraguan with extremely dark hair and tanned skin color. She was neither fat nor skinny. She said she was 32. I had a 30 minute session for 12000 colones. I told her I did not have much leche left and she said she was getting it out. I had a really good session and she was able to finish me. I was sweating all over and glad I got a release. We exchanged whatsapp and I tip the Nicaraguan well.

SUMMARY.

This pretty much sums up my trip. The next day early morning, I was flying back to NYC. I was tired, had a lot fun with Ticas and Nicaraguans, and enjoyed the CR culture and way of life. There are tons of Nicaraguan women living in San Jose. In retrospect, I found the Ticas and Nicaraguans to be quite affectionate and to me found them easier GF experiences than with the Colombians and similar GF experience with the DR girls. I also find that the Tico culture is more care free. The CR people don't worry much in general. They are so oblivious of their surrounding that many ticos / as I asked for direction did not even know the name of the neighborhood where they were working as if it is not important to know. The Tica and Nicaraguan women I found them to be less attractive than the Colombians, but their affectionate ways make up for the lesser attractiveness. The Tica and Nicaraguans are also more natural, their bodies, and use less make up or none. I did not see any enhanced girl during my Pension runs. In Colombia, women are obsessed with beauty and enhanced with silicone girls are everywhere. The Ticas also don't seem to care that much about how they look in comparison to the Colombians and as a result their bodies are not in the best shape possible. Medellin in general is cheaper than CR, but not by much. I also found CR to be cheaper than Cartagena, Barranquilla, and the DR. I liked this trip and will definitely repeat visiting. I hope you guys enjoy reading this long report or got some useful information from it.

The answer is yes in both cases. In the former situation, obviously the solution is to insist on the meter from the get go, or get out of the cab. I always write down the shield number of the cab. I'd pay whatever I felt like if that happened, and tell him if he did not like it he can call the cops. He won't because he will lose his medallion. In the second case, talk to Jimmy and tell him the chica pulled this shit without telling you up front. Jimmy doesn't put up with too much from his chicas. You should not have given her anything. Bad behavior should not be rewarded.

I got back just a little over a week ago from my first trip to CR. I landed in San Jose, CR on a Tuesday afternoon. I got a ride into SJ from Sid at One Lucky Dogg. I had asked Sid to take me to exchange dollars for colons and to pick up some drinks and snacks. So he took me to Walmart nearby the airport. I was dropped off at the Freebird hotel. I had a great experience staying there. In the early evening, I walked to Monica's. There were 6 chicas there when I arrived. I made small talk with a few guys that were there to give me a chance to scope it out. I liked one named Michel who was young, light chocolate skin, good looking and great body. She didn't speak English but didn't matter much. It was 40 for the hour. The room was nice and clean. One thing that threw me off a little was that we were in a room on the ground floor that was next to the lobby. So I could hear the doorbell, people talking at times and all the fun going on in the next room. A pretty nice experience and I would visit again.

I had met two other guys staying at the Freebird. The next day I went with one of them to Relax in the afternoon. It was a short walk there from our hotel. We walked in and any girls available lined up and greeted us. I believed there were 8-9 chicas that I saw. It was interesting to have all those eyes on you trying to get your attention and get you to choose. I did $26 for half hour with Gabriela who was half Tica and half Colombian cutie. Met a great looking girl who was very sweet in the lobby bar. A really nice experience, GFE, she hung out with me for about a couple hours at HDR and a few hours at the hotel. I met up with her again 2 nights later at Key Largo. I thought Key Largo was a pretty cool place. I went on a Friday night. It's split up into several different attached rooms / bars. They had a couple of girls in body paint performing some dances. There were a decent amount of people there to make it lively but far from packed.

Two friends came into SJ the next day, Saturday. I spent time with them for the next 6 nights. This was a different phase of the trip. We took a tour bus shuttle out the following morning to Tamarindo beach. Then hit up Arenal for a few days where we went ziplining, canyoneering and hit up Baldi hot spring. Then back to the airport.

My friends went home but I had 2 more nights left so back to SJ to stay at the Sportsmen for a Friday and Saturday night. I just like the vibe there. For me it is laid back how I usually like it. Out of the handful of evenings I hung out at Sportsmen I did pull some chicas from there.

A trip note on taxis. I was warned that in SJ sometimes I'll get drivers that don't know where they're going and they're usually not doing it on purpose. At times, I had to give them nearby landmarks such as well known buildings, Del Rey, Casa Amarilla to get to Sportsmen, restaurant (La Esquina de Buenos Aires) to my hotel when street names were not enough. That was my experience. All the taxis I encountered dealt in Colons. The drivers had different amounts they charged but all not too far off from each other. A few used the meter (maria) but more of them did not.

Speaking some Spanish definitely helped me clarify some things such as destinations for taxis, getting food / snacks from local shops and when I picked up a local sim card for my phone. I just knew enough words to get by but knowing more would of made things smoother in my case.

The weather was nice in SJ even with some rain. At Relax and Monica's, you can pay in US dollars or Colons. The girls I had from both would do BBBJ but for extra. Better to clarify that up front with anyone. All the other chicas I pulled preferred Colons even if they were negotiating in dollars.

Some advice when walking around SJ. Just pay attention to cars and buses as you walk along. There are very few crosswalks or lights for pedestrians outside of the walking streets. You'll see.

Sid took me back to the airport. He was on time each trip I used his service. For myself, I thought it was a good idea to get a ride in and be able to talk to someone and start getting info for a newbie. That was the gist of my first trip to CR. I had a really fun time getting a mixture of experiences and hope to go back possibly to experience Jaco.

A very interesting day indeed. The learning curve went way up today. About 1;00 pm I caught a taxi from my hotel in Escazu and had them drop me off at the National Theater. What a crowd all over today. Every one was selling Féliz DIA Mama balloons, lots of street vendors, kind of exciting to see for my first trip downtown. So I strolled to the HDR thinking. I could play some poker then check out the scenery, then walk to Monica's. Well not so fast. The poker room opens at 2 pm and really doesn't get rolling till a bit later, but I did get to talk to the "owner", Texas Dave. A real nice guy, his name comes up again in a bit.

Out in the bar and casino area I met several very lovely ladies. Two come to immediate mind, Ruby "Boobies" and Diana. Ruby is my kind of MILF. Short hair, a real pretty natural rack that she enjoyed showing to me. Diana is a stunning long haired young woman. They both spoke better ingles than I spoke Espanol. But not having a room downtown, well, that meant I was just window shopping. Should I come down for a boys trip though, I will plan on staying there, it looks pretty nice. Now what? OK so I mosey back to the HDR passing a few other places that didn't get too many good reviews here and with Cuba Dave. Feet hurt so I go back into the poker room where it's pretty cool and talk more to Texas Dave and Russ. They recommend I short cab it to Zona II, which after some more good conversation I do. He says to say Hi to Jimmy the owner who is also his bookie. So I grab a cab and off I go. OK now is the part where the guys in the know can bash the new guy, so I can learn from any errors I may have made.

The cabbie doesn't turn on the Maria, and asks me for 2000 c. No biggie, but did I get hit for an extra two bucks? I didn't have my paper map any way so I wouldn't have found it on Texas Dave's directions. OK so I go in, and get wanded by security and am shown to the bar. Not too shabby a joint. Clean but a bit run down as has been reported. I'm approached by a nice tall tica, who I don't remember her name, but pretty cute and she asks me for 65. I thought 65000 c, holy crap!! But she said, no $65 US. Ahhhh in colones she wanted 32500 for an hour. So I had a sigh of relief, paid her and off to a room "The California Kid". Nice big shower with no water pressure. I either got roasted or chilled. She climbed in with me and we washed together, nice touch, and then had me lay on the bed for my "massage". Not so much as a few oily strokes. I have RTTF and understand Monica's is a set price for the hour and half hour, but is a propina expected or is the price I pay up front the whole cost. Thanks a ton! I posted this from my phone, which is the only way I could understand it going to the San Jose section as opposed to Jaco, but this was the exact set of answers I was looking for! It seems like 350-500/ day is a more realistic goal to budget one's per diem on, so I'll look at the two with that in mind. And though the price difference between the two is well-pronounced enough in terms of day-to-day budget, there's only about a $120 difference in the two plane tickets (on a normal, sub-12 hour flight leg) from my side of the country. Still, considering running with the CR just for the unknown factor and to be able to have the classic comparison between the CR and DR, firsthand. Going to look at prices over the next 24-48 hours and strike when the iron's hot.

Also, don't wait too long to make hotel reservations. The upper floors of the HDR (the only ones you want to have) sell out.

For a short trip of only four days, I would consider SXM. Personally, I always got an unsatisfied feeling when I trot into and out of a country without seeing the good stuff. Although your trip works from a party perspective, you aren't seeing any of the good tourists stuff. I would consider saving CR for another trip when you have at least a week.

SXM for four days is perfect. A medium sized Carribean island with decent beaches and diving and excellent restaurants on the French side. It's closer, with a surprising number of nonstop flights. These are more expensive than CR, but less than PP.

And check the ISG page for SXM. Its one of the few forums where you never hear guys complain. That says something.

Sleep Inn always my choice. Newer, I'd say 3-3.25 star American grade, American chain, free BK, WIFI (bring your own Ethernet.

Cable), high chica fee, like $25, but it's quit. That is if you get 3rd floor rooms facing the Rey / Colonial, especially center rooms.

Avoid the other side, too close to the street, and avoid the corners for the same reason. Book online and save maybe $10, especially if you fit into one of the chain's discounts. I really like that place and I think I've stayed everywhere in SJ at least once, near the epicenter and far. Obviously not a good play if you are going to be hitting it more then once a day unless $$ is not an issue.

I remember once I forgot my computer power supply, called them from Quepos, yep, had it in the office in a box with my name on it.

Norma (long long time Day-Timer at the Rey--looks a little like and speaks English exactly like Penelope Cruz) went and got it and put it on the bus for me. Nice.

The airline ticket difference should be more than $124. Make sure you check Southwest Air. About 2 months ago they started a bunch of new direct routes to Costa Rica from the USA. These are cheap, AND non-stop. Check Southwest website directly, as their prices don't appear on Kayak.

Yes, if your goal is to party and maybe spend some time on the beach. No if your goal is to "do" Costa Rica from a tourists perspective -- to see the best it has to offer.

A few years ago I might have said no, given that it took 3-4 hours to get to Jaco on a shitty bus or rental car. It wasn't time efficient. But now that the new direct modern highway is finished, providing 90 minute access to Jaco, I would say yes.

From the airport, go straight to Jaco on one of OLD's services or some other shuttle service. Do as much in the 2-3 days there that you can, which will be more than you think. Jaco has easy access to some areas of rainforest. You can zipline, mountainbike, surf, all that stuff. And party at night. The day before your flight, travel back to San Jose to be close to the airport. Stay at the Del Rey and party there the night before you leave.

As to your other questions, I personally like to stay at Party Central unless it is cost prohibitive. Cocal and Del Rey for me. Also, CR is more expensive than the DR in every way, and is more expensive than you think. RTF for exact figures. If you choose CR, at least be comforted by the fact that the plane ticket there is a LOT cheaper than going to Puerto Plata, almost half price.
