People are people and they have many strange ideas about Americans and many Colombians and Venezuelans have a deep rooted hatred for Americans, trust me I found this out the hard way. Many of these working girls have shown me that they are just as opportunistic as people growing up in the Ghettos of America. I grew up in the Ghettos of america and I know what it is like to live hand to mouth. Many have confided in me and told me, that they all think gringos are stupid, rich, and wasteful with money. I can easily see why they think that after spending 3 years here mongering.

As a business man, I have worked in the same profession for the past 27 years, 22 of those years, I built my career and over the last 5 years, I have been at the top of my professional career. I have owned my own businesses since 2013 and I know how business works and numbers work. I came to Medellin for a Medical procedure and every penny that I have spent since I have been here will be added to that medical expense, so this all works in my favor. No matter what I spend here in Medellin, it will be contributed to my medical expense and it will probably get me my biggest income tax return ever. While living here in Medellin, I have ways to receive payment for services without it ever affecting my business numbers, so as far as income; it appears that I stopped working back in March. I have an accountant to help me with things like this. So if Colombia wants me to pay income tax on the money I earned up until March, no problem.

I am still amazed that many people act as though the world has not changed since the quarantine, it has and those of us who were ready are truly capitalizing by working from home. I work for myself from home so no one tracks my income, because I can have payments re-routed to other accounts that have nothing to do with my business or me. It has always been the American way, it has never been about how much income you make in America, it has always been about how much income they can prove you made in America. As far as Colombia goes, it looks like I only spend money in Colombia, it does not look like I earn a penny when I am here. As far as the Colombian government is concerned, I am here to have my teeth fixed and that is my original reason for coming to Colombia in March. As a good faith gesture to show many who know me from Park Botero, I want them to see, that all Americans are not here to mistreat chicas who work the streets and even when we leave and return to America it does not mean we will make every chic that we have banged suffer until we return again. I have always been the kind of guy to treat people the way that they treat me. Pollo Negro is out!

A quick way to lose respect of Colombians is to throw money around liberally on people unrelated to you. Its my understanding and experience that in this culture money is exclusively for family or occasionally for the absolute closest of Family friends with a long history. Being tight fisted will gain respect for you. Throwing money around, you look like a damned fool and a joke. I find a way to interject economic hardship into every dialogue and interaction.

Working remotely. Dollars in, pesos out. This has been a colossal and difficult transition for me, but I'm glad I got started 5 years ago, its paying off now.

Actually the hardest part of driving in the DR is all the Moto-concho's that appear out of nowhere while your driving that you have to watch out for. And they are so stupid there not wearing helmets holding babies in their arms. I've never been to another Country where people on motorcycles where not wearing a helmet.

I have a two word response to explain why I think you and Surfer are unfairly exaggerating the danger and complexity of driving in Colombia: Dominican Republic.

Any of you who have visited the country, especially those of you who may have driven there know exactly what I'm referring to.

Interesting you chose the DR versus say New Delhi, India.

Actually, my post was about how dangerous it is as a pedestrian walking in Medellin, versus the complexity of driving in the City.

And as far as the Dominican Republic, I have no problem driving there at all, and always rent a car, yet it's out of necessity, as public transport is limited there, and I have driven pretty much all over the entire eastern part of the Country, albeit I always stayed clear of Santo Domingo except to pass thru, and didn't drive at night there. As far as Medellin, the public transport system is excellent if you avoid rush hour, taxis are plentiful, there's UBER and others, and dirt cheap, so for me personally no need for a car.

It is a place where car horns have to be replaced when they wear out. I have never seen that anywhere before or since.

Just say you're visiting Medellin in the future and would like to meet. If they respond in the affirmative, particularly with kissing emojis or saying "amor", then congrats, you've struck prepago gold. If they act coy and ask what do you mean then you've got one of two options. You can just be direct and say you want to exchange money for sex, although you run the risk of them getting offended. ("Do I look like a puta?" one indignant girl demanded after I tried the blunt approach. Needless to say that attempt was a failure.) But at least it eliminates uncertainty and you can negotiate services and prices beforehand.

The other option which some guys on these boards prefer is to treat it like you're asking them out on a date. Make small talk, get to know them better, then invite them over to your rental, maybe mention sharing a bottle of wine or some mary jane if that's what you're into. Then when you're together work your charm and your way into her pants. On one hand, you have a higher chance of meeting non-pros, getting GFE, and not having to pay much or anything at all with this method. On the other, you run the risk of striking out, she refusing to do a particular act you want, or her demanding money anyway.

I used websites like those more frequently during my earliest trips to Medellin until I built up my list of FB amigas. The ones on photoprepagos are generally accurate, although girls like to use soft filters and their most flattering angles. I checked again and one of the girls I tried was still on the site (https://www.photoprepagos.com/prepag...rande-id-h3ap4) I can attest she looks exactly like her photo and does BBBJ as advertised. If you don't want to do any legwork than using escort sites are a viable option, with some caveats. For one, don't expect GFE. Secondly many are incall only so you'll have to go through the trouble of getting a prepaid SIM card during your stay in Medellin and taking an Uber to some mysterious address that could be in a dodgy neighborhood.

I've had two mildly bad experiences. I chatted with this one big-titted puta on Whatsapp and she sent this overly long pre-formatted block of text with something like 20 bullet points that just rambled on about how she's more than just an escort and was offering pictures and an "experience" and blah blah blah. I grew impatient and asked if she'd come to my address at noon. She agreed. At 11 am I texted her again to make sure she was coming and then she said no because I hadn't "confirmed" my appointment with her. And how was I supposed to do that? Well apparently I had to first buy her packet of pictures for 70 mil and only then would she agree to meet. I laughed in her face and told her to take a hike. I later googled her number and apparently she had been trying to run this scam for awhile.

The other was a girl I had booked late afternoon. There was traffic and I had trouble getting an Uber so I was 10 minutes past due by the time I arrived at the address. I texted the girl asking for her apartment number and that's when she said we're not going to meet because I didn't check in with her an hour before. At no point beforehand did she ever say that step was necessary and anyway I had made the appointment earlier that same day. Thanks for wasting my time!

Agreed. I rented a car in MDE once (1st and last time) and driving from poblado to centro was enough of a clusterF for me to give that idea up. Driving the car back to the rental store, I saw a truck wipe a motorcyclist off his bike and just keep on driving.

Also, the only time I went to one of MDE's big hospitals I noticed a lot of their patients are injuries from riding motorcycles.

I did also rent a car once to drive from So Paulo to Minas Gerais and just prayed the whole time that I would survive the drive. In all fairness, I shouldn't have rented a manual. A bus ended up rear ending me on the trip also, so yeah I'll be using Uber and taxis in SA for the foreseeable future.
