To many people this isn't the main criterium, but its for me. I want to be able to sleep quietly throughout the morning, without too much noise.
Of course, no one is immune to noisy neighbours, could someone give me their opinion of generally quiet Hotels ?
Dinasty Grande was quiet, most of the time, but it become expensive, and i must choose another one, the Inn SalaDeng that i mentioned before is still a mistery, Majestic Suites has been mentioned a lot here, the prices are nice, it has Internet, but i wonder if location (in a very busy street), doesn't make him very noisy.
Are there other options ?
Thanks in advance
MontecristoCitichic is quite for me and rates are reasonable unlike Dynasty Grande and no issues with visitors. Breakfast comes with room although you have limited choice. Internet is free. The only issues I have with Citichic are the air con which I find too cold for my liking and the controls are not great and second is there is some kind of aroma coming from the bathroom. I think it has some thing to do with the sewage piping in the hotel.

Does anyone with latest experience with Key Hotel. I know they are not gf friendly which is ok with me cos bringing wife with me next trip.
I received an e-mail alert from www.accorhotels.com about Grand Mercure Bangkok Park Avenue on Shukumvit soi 22.
Lowest price with no BF is at 2013 Baht /40 euros.
Check it out.

I have stayed at the Conrad probably two months over many trips. Its now very expensive against the rest of the market. But its an impressive stay in many ways on par with the Penninsula. The best thing to do if you are stayin beyond 28 days is to call the hotel and speak to the rate manager. Otherwise, I would look at a serviced apartment for the same money that aren't such big names commanding the price.
Let us know what you end up doing.
Gentlemen,
I was thinking about booking Fraser Suites on Sathorn or Conrad Residences for a month long stay in BKK ( boss pays ;-) )
I checked the Forum but did not find any info on them.
Would anybody be so kind and tell me if these places are GF and share any other relevant info?
Thanks a lot.
I typically stay around Sukhumvit. Did try the Peninsula and other Riverside hotels a few years ago. But this time around a funny thing happened. I had booked the Dream hotel and started looking for plane tickets. The price went up more than 30% in just a few months, probably because of the fuel. But while I was looking I saw an unbelievable deal (which appeared to be a mistake, and it was) for a package - 14 nights in Shangri-la (most expensive room - not a suite) and a flight - the total package for about the same as the flight by itself would cost me! I booked immediately and they caught on, but changed their pricing after I received my confirmation, so there was very little they could do about that. Just to give you an idea, a package which appeared on their web site after they corrected the pricing was $ 4,500 more that what I had paid. The $ 1,490 was the total expense for me. However, now I have other concerns. Shangri-la is typically guest friendly. But I'm staying at their Krungthep wing, with a butler on every floor. Sounds like an Oriental. Does anyone know anything about it? Did anyone stayed at their Krungthep Wing? I don't want any hassles bringing my guests in. They charge the same price for single and double, so even though my package is for 1 person, I have contacted the hotel and made sure it's a double room. I would prefer to stay around Suk but...I'm saving $ 1,600 by not staying there and getting a great room (near BTS) at the same time.
I've stayed in Shangri-La Bkk in march - april and can confirm it's totally gf. I didn't stay in Krungthep wing but, as you have a connection between the two wings, I often used Krungthep wing entrance in and out with girls as this is nearer to the skytrain. I was never bothered by any of the doormen.
If you have a problem with this you can use the normal Shangri-La entrance and go to Krungthep wing from 1st floor.
There is another entrance coming from the ATM and their shops but I don't remember the exact way.
By the way I think under normal condition Horizon Club suite is a better deal than Krungthep wing. I use to get suite No 2432 automatically (they know me) which is last on the left on lift exit. Nobody bothers you there, even with two ladies.
If you need a driver ask for Chan with E-class. He's very discrete, friendly and can make you a price on an houerly basis.
Hope this helps.

Try the Grand President located on Sukhumvit Soi 11. The rate for their Royal Suite is $3390 Thai Bahts and include breakfast for two and free internet. Location is fantastic as it within walking distance of Nana and Soi Cowboy and the Nana BTS station is right by the main road.

I have a overnight "lay"over in Bangkok arriving 1930 Hrs and departing 0700 Hrs the next morning.
Can anybody suggest a GF Hotel near the airport alongwith details of available activity, if any ? If no activity available, is incall escort service worth it ? Any references for parttime providers are welcome.
Thanks.

Since you have to back at the airport at 5AM or 5.30 then your Hotel doesn't have to be that close to the airport.
As long as close to the expressway entrance you will be able to get to airport in 45 mins max. perhaps less.
Its better to have a Hotel close to the mongering areas if you want to take a girl for the night.
So I imagine that Sukhumwit Soi 6 (Dynasty Grande) or Soi 8 would be O.K. with left turn into Sukhumwit and right turn onto expressway. Others please correct me if I am wrong and cannot get to correct lane from these Sois.
If the girl is no good you can send her away and quickly get another one to replace her.
If you don't want a girl for whole night then simply take girl for a short time to any ST Hotel near mongering areas. She will know where. They are easy to find in Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza, etc. Then when you are all finished, return to you Hotel near airport (I don't know any because I never consider staying close to airport). Airport Hotels are probably costly.

Hi,
I found out about the Dream Hotel, it looks very nice, but is it GF?
Dose somebody of you hve a recomendation abote the dream?
Thanks a lot
Will
All of my guests loved the room and bed with comforter and four large pillows and voluntarily extended their stay until after sunrise. Breakfast was okay but boring and not as exciting as that offered by lower cost places like Eastiny Plaza on Soi 8 in Pattaya. I may return to stay again but my preference is still the Dynasty Inn Grande on Soi 6.Howzit Brah!
Sounds like it was GF, did your guest have to leave her ID?
Sounds like no "walk of shame" past the front desk?

Look the "girl friendly" implies that he wants to sleep with a girl for significant time.
So Hotels near the airport must exist. But unless he knows the girl already and makes prior arrangements he is going to have to taxi to the mongering areas to find a girl anyway. So where is the advantage of a Hotel at the airport?
And then many girls will not want to go that far afield anyway.
Its got me puzzled.
O.K. Maybe he wants to ring an escort agency and get some girl (not his type) delivered site unseen.
I have never tried an escort agency because prices seem ridiculous and I am very fussy about choosing.
I was only trying to help by offering alternative ideas that seemed way more sensible to my way of thinking.

Agoda was offering Classic room (with complimentary Internet access) 3500 Baht for a late June stay double room. Seems a good price for 5 star. Obviously high season will be different.
There are several very expensive 5 star Hotels in Bangkok but Dream is fairly close to the mongering action (BKK Hotels Map shows Sukhumwit Soi 15). Very short walk to Cowboy or the MRT for soapy trips.
I am just about thinking with free Internet I should give it a try, even though more than I usually pay.

It's a nice hotel, but it's not really a 5 star hotel. At least not what most of us would associate with that rating. I think it's more like a 3 star hotel. Along the lines of an S15 or any other hotel that you would find in that price range. The price is a dead giveaway, even though Agoda also lists it as a 5 star. Probably only because the hotel itself bills them as a 5 star.
The location is probably a weak point. Not bad, mind you, but it's definitely not right on Sukhumvit or a stones throw from a BTS station. I included the Agoda map below and some other comparables. No hotel is perfect, so you just need to find one that meets your high priority needs. For me it's new, location, in room safe and minimal walk of shame! LOL!
Good luck!

I think the Agoda Map is slightly distorted and most of the Maps showing Hotels are not completely reliable. I am guessing that Dream is about 200m from Sukhumwit (where Soi 15 turns the corner) and about twice that to the BTS. Your right its just unfortunate to be between BTS stations. However seems to be highly rated in reviews.
I often stay at Grande President which is further from Suk but closer to the BTS.
But Dream is still an O.K. walk to MRT or Soi Cowboy in my opinion. I usually have to walk much further.
I like the look of new S15 and right on Suk. Special price around 2750 would be worth trying but doesn't look like internet is free through Agoda. Book on S15 website and the internet is complimentary but price goes up to 3200.
Still this is going to be closer to my price range when on special so you have changed my mind.
Citichic sounds good too but again slightly too far from BTS to be really ideal.
Can anyone recommend a nice Hotel to take my Girlfriend.
But, where i can sneak upstairs to a massage parlour with extra's?
In Bangkok or Phuket
Thanks.
Asheron, do you really need upstairs, or can you also go out, and go around the corner?

I have very often stayed at the Holiday Inn in Silom Road with my wife. Besides being in a very good location in Bangkok, the hotel is very good value and has excellent accomonditions. The breakfast is vast (one of the best I've ever had) and that alone is worth going to this hotel. The in-house massage parlour is downstairs and looks very legit at first glance, there are about 8/10 girls to choose from for a massage.
They are all well experienced to offer extras at the right moment. I once had an oily massage there where the girl striped naked and used her tits to spread the oil on me from head to toe followed by F/S.
If you turn up with your girlfriend they will ask you if want separate rooms ... pick up the cue (hint, hint).

Actually I prefer a Massage Parlour a safe distance from the Hotel. If can get there in 5 minutes, that's reasonable.
Can return by motor-bike if required back in a real hurry.
Taking a naughty massage in the same Hotel is most risky of all.

Mick,
You are right about the Agoda map being a tad off on the locations of the hotels. It does give you some perspective, though. I think Dream is toward the back corner on Soi 15 and not around that corner as pictured, but I could be wrong on this one. And no, it's not that long a walk. The S15 is a nice hotel, but it's a bit snug if there's a King Size bed in the room. The Bed is smack dab in the middle of the room with about 3 feet of space around the bed and the surrounding walls.
It's ok for me, since I spend all of my time at the oilys, soapies or on the bed and not around it. Not good for those that like to walk around the room. I also had the power go out one night, for about 6 hours. The backup generator provided power to the elevators and my bathroom light. That sufficed, as I got an in-room massage with FS at the end. The bathroom light was all that was needed! LOL!
Only a short block to Asoke station, so perfect for the MRT to Soapy land! Close to Soi Cowboy, Soi 22 bars/massage parlors and lot's to do in that area. But you already know all of that! LOL!
Peace,
AT2

Hi, Marpa,
Your message was timely. I am planning to visit Bangkok with my family and was looking for a "respectable" Hotel. Did you see a lot of WGs with guests in this Hotel?
Are the rooms spacious and updated? Did you book this Hotel directly or through a third party website?

Yes we think alike. I would take convenience over size of the room. I used to stay in tiny rooms of Honey Hotel Soi 19 years ago and wasn't even going to Cowboy regularly.
I like this web-site for S15 (as well as the 2 you gave):
http://www.bangkok.com/reviews-boutique/s15-sukhumvit-hotel.html
So on my next trip I'll try S15, Citichic, and maybe even Dream and compare them to others I have used regularly such as LL, GP, DynG, etc.
P.S. I think the Agoda Map pin for Manhatten should be Dream and Manhatten may only be 100 metres from Suk on the other side of the road.
Its tough when all the different Map sources disagree with each other. But I have a GPS phone now with BKK Maps loaded so I'll check it all next time.

When I was not mongering I used to like Baiyoke Sky (Baiyoke 2) as rooms are large with large bed and walk in robe I think, and has magnificent views. Tallest building in Thailand I think.
Only drawback is Internet charges are a bit high.

Guys,
Most web sites with Hotel Maps have many innaccuracies.
But this Map is useful for some Hotels:
http://www.hoteltravel.com/thailand/bangkok/sukhumvit_map.htm
e.g. of error: Ambassador and Grand President are switched incorrectly. Acctually GP is further into Soi than Ambasador.
Even Nana Hotel is placed wrongly.
So I'm starting to have doubts.
I guess I have to create my own Map.

Mick, were the BKK maps pre-loaded, or did you get them from somewhere? I've just upgraded my 'phone to one that has a big enough screen to do GPS justice, so am interested in this software.
With a Nokia phone, you have to download Maps from internet to PC and plug in phone via USB cable to xfer, but free.
I downloaded Australia, Europe (large), Thailand, and Singapore to start with.
Now if I put some BKK place on a Google Map, I won't have to pace out or guess how many metres down the Soi from the main road.
At some phone shops the staff will load the maps for you at the store for certain barnds of phone, e.g. ASUS.
My latest phone has a good quality camera lense compared to most phones as well. So I hope mongering pics/video is possible on the spur of the moment. Many phone cameras have crap lenses that take lousy pics. Its not just dependent on the number of pixels.

Ok, I am a complete moron when it comes to Photography.... can you tell me what lens is good for a Phone? I am contemplating buying a new phone and was hesitating between a good Camera phone or go totally different and buy a blackberry

Well I am no Camera expert either.
But simply umpteen mega pixels do little to compensate for a shot not properly focussed or with poor light exposure or where camera movement spoiled the shot.
A Nokia with a Karl Zeiss lens (spelling?) and reasonably good auto-focus can take better photos than my previous crap phone with plenty of mega-pixels but not much else.
Most of all its about using the equipment in the best way to suit its limitations too.
The Nokia has zoom, special settings for macro, nighttime, multi-shot sequences, etc.
I would ask your question in the General thread and hope some photography experts can help more than me.
A "Blackberry" strikes me as more of a business oriented phone for urgent emails or maybe for urgent internet use.
The thing I use a phone for most is actually making calls. But a few mongering assistance accessories like still photos, video, GPS and Maps can be handy. I can mark all the places I will visit on the phone and don't need any printed Maps nor Laptop in my backpack.
I wish the phone camera was more silent so that I could secretly snap more easily.
I have got lost somewhat while mongering OS, so GPS and Maps will help at times. Also can help to find Soapies in obscure locations that I have never been to yet.

Most important: cleaness of room, bathroom size/quality, breakfast

If you want to do real photography, buy a real camera. You are better off to buy a Blackberry and a separate camera.
Regardless of the lens, a camera phone is very limited to giving you a good picture except in an optimum setting. The megapixels only relate to the clarity of the enlargements.
ML, it is Carl Zeiss.
Which of the 2 Marriotts is the best to stay at in Bangkok for mongering. The J.W. or the Marriott resort & Spa? Thanks, for any info.

ML, it is Carl Zeiss. If you want to take good pictures with a flash, it is essential that you can turn it bouncing. With small cameras you only have 2 options: Nikon and Canan. Since the canon is way too big, Nikon P5100 is the choice. It makes excellent videos (for a camerea) too, is affordable and you can buy a very small external flash (SB-400). Set down the resolution from 12 to 8 MPix, because the chip is too small for 12 and gives better results (less noise) at 8.
One disadvantage: The camera is pretty slow in focussing when the light is low.
I feel that the pics out of a phone (most of them), unless you want to catch some evidence lacking a camera, are pretty useless. And even then they might be.
I wonder if this discussion is not one of the very few that would actually belong to the photo gallery.

There will be plenty of reports in this thread on each of those Hotels so do a "Search this Thread"
Search for
Majestic+Suites
or
"Nana Hotel"
I have stayed in both but too long ago. Both were O.K. but I need good internet facilities to report to the ISG. ;)
Gee, Nic - if you HAVE the camera, the PHONE can just be something like a Razor or even a cheapo Nokia that just "talks" (mine is black and white - not even colour) I can use my Razor V3 though because of the 4 band coverage - easier - just switch to the Thai chip or whatever system. IF you want/need "full keyboard" for texting, you are overworked ;)

Mick Licker,
Many thanks for your suggestion and help.
Did exactly as you said and had a good time.
Small report (after all, how long can a ST report be ?) in the reports section.

I've stayed at both and I prefer Majestic Suites. Majestic Suites is a newer property compared to Nana. But I did like the breakfast buffet at Nana.
Majestic suites also has in-room safes that Nana hotel lacks.
Just my preference but I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Nana if I couldn't book Majestic.
Just an update on this hotel. They have upgraded their rooms and are quite nice. Got rid of the old carpeting and replaced with wood (?) floors, bathrooms renovated etc. Rooms are quite big compared to Manhattan. However, rates has jumped to 1600 net. The best thing is a free wireless and a trip downstairs to the Thermae.

First time I stayed here was 10 yr ago.
It was 900 bht then.
This is a good location, but man inflation is getting bad in Bangkok.
Even AW Business Inn want 1000bht for their dump.

Hi,
I found an information abote the dream hotel in BKK.
Does anyone has an information on the hotel, and it is GF?
It would be grate if someon can provide me with a tip.
Thanks a lot.
WillDream Hotel is very GF. It has free internet which is a plus, and it is a nice friendly place with a bit of cachet. The location isn't perfect as its about 200 meters from Sukhumvit as Mick suggests. But, Soi Cowboy and NEP are both within walking distance, albeit a longish walk. You may find the best rate on this hotel is on Expedia (around $80. 00).
I've tried to find a reference to this newish hotel located on Soi 7 using the search function and couldn't find anything so i apologize if this has been covered.
Anyone stay here yet? Is it GF?
The suites look great, and I can envision filling one with Biergarten girls in the day, and Rainbow girls at night...

Its not hard to find with a general web search. e.g.
www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/bangkok/mac_boutique_suites_hotel.html
While I haven't been there, its very likely to be GF in this district. You could ring them up and ask.
Normally only the pompous Hotels on Sukhumwit are not GF, e.g. Rembrandt.
You're right, Mick, they're probably completely GF ; given their location that would only be logical. LOS and logic aren't currently on speaking terms, however, so I'll try to check them out before I book.
BTW the Rembrandt is listed as GF, along with a number of hotels that I'm certain are, on Black Gold's website so I'm guessing it is (as they ought to know).
Hi, Marpa,
Your message was timely. I am planning to visit Bangkok with my family and was looking for a "respectable" Hotel. Did you see a lot of WGs with guests in this Hotel?
Are the rooms spacious and updated? Did you book this Hotel directly or through a third party website?
Thanks!
Hi BKKguru,
Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I was travelling in Thailand the past week and took a break from computers.
In Bangkok I did stay at the Holiday Inn in Silom once again, with my family and its not the kind of hotel where Farangs walk around with WG's. If they were there, then they were very discreet. The hotel is used by Emirates and Singapore Airlines for their staff so it wouldn't have been chosen if it wasn't classified as a "respectable" hotel . The rooms are very spacious with all the comforts of a 4 star. I booked directly from their website : www.bangkok-silom.holiday-inn.com. I was charged Thai Baht 2669 per room, per night, including breakfast for 2 pers. I strongly recommend this hotel if you are travelling with your family. Also don't forget the massage center in the basement that offers all types of services. If you do go for a massage try Ninnah (not sure of the spelling) and she'll give you a memorable time but bargain hard and bring her down as she starts off from an absurd price.
Good luck,
Marpa

O.K. Its just that when I stayed there, they seemed to want to check that my GF was actually checked in on the register (which she was), but perhaps they were merely wanting her Id Card if she wasn't checked in.
In any case I found them to be more irritating and pompous than most Hotels. This was 2-3 years ago.
In addition Rembrandt is a long way down the Soi so I don't go there anymore.

Duni,
Wow that price is good if you don't need a pool (I assume they don't have one) and location very good for BTS or Soi Cowboy. Is it noisy there?
Is there any easy way to cross sukhumwit road there if you need to get to the expressway in a hurry?
I presume need to U-turn as Asoke and come back?
Sorry, one more question. Are the beds a good size and soft?
I hate the very hard beds at Grand Business Inn and the noise (a lot of construction work when I was there and also big air gaps under the door causes Hotel guest noise to carry).

Hello All, will be in BKK on the 12 for two nights, then back again after about 10 days and stay for a week (maybe Koh Samui or Pattaya, not sure yet)
Any recent word on www.cozyatten.com? It was posted a while back by a member, but no new comments. Am thinking Citichic or this one. 1000THB difference and possibly the only difference is breakfast? I don't care about pool, etc.

they do have a pool albeit a small one on the 8th floor. there is like a mini restaurant there also, if you want breakfast. limited to continental or american style. (not included in room rate)
soi cowboy is walking distance (5-10 minutes, depending on your speed). asoke station is closer. i just walk to robinson, go to the second floor and walk on to their walkway to the station. saves me from climbing all the stairs. (have bad knees)
yes, you have to make a u-turn at asoke for the expressway. but some taxis make left on soi 15 and go down to soi 3 using back roads and make a turn to go to the expressway.
the beds are queen size and the beds just right. i don't like hard ones either.
now that the sofitel next door has completed most of the outside work, there is hardly any noise.
cons:
the bathrooms are small. they have shower stalls and the floor gets flooded. however, water drains away quite fast, and a towel on the floor does the trick.
pros:
free wi-fi.
massage parlor on the 3rd floor. not much choices of girls, but they do give you a good massage. you can even have the girl come to your room. same rate.
all the tgs are milling around the front entrance, or at the thermae down below. after closing they are all on the front having noodles and such. i guess the thermae is getting crowded with too many tgs chasing a few japanese. last week, had a pretty good looking (an 8) tg proposition me, which was a surprise considering my physical shape and brown skin. last year, had a tough time even getting to talk to them.
there is a bar w/pool tables on the ground floor, if you are so inclined.
bottom line: it is not soi 33 but it is a convenient place to be with lots of options, from restaurants, shopping and of course tgs.

The internet rates in low season looks good on many hotels.
Somebody know if it is like the rate is lowest on the web or if you walk in on places and ask for example that you would stay x number of nights and so on, is it going to get any cheaper then?
Experience anyone?
I'm going in September and when Im in Bangkok I would like to upgrade my living with a nicer hotel on Suk.

it sure seems convenient even if a little "too close" to the action.
hard to get all these facilities for the same price.
seems similar to grand business inn but not sharing its problems (hard beds, noisy, no pool).
certainly would be convenient for soapy excursions using the mrt.
i aslo intend to try citichic and s15 to compare different price classes.
however i am still very happy with livingstones on soi 33 when in full mongering mode.

I've stayed at Ruamchitt a number of times. Only going back a year or so ago I thought it was great value at B900. Slightly, just slightly, better rooms than Nana, and a little bigger. Good location as previously posted. Thermae downstairs. Turn left, Cowboy in 5-7 minutes. Turn right and Nana was about 10-12 walking on the odd side, a little quicker if you cross using the pedestrian bridge and walk down the even side.
Fantastic rooftop pool, very clean and well maintained and not often used by other guest so quite often have it to yourself.
Having said all of that, as mentioned they recently renovated and uped the prices. On my last visit they had two choices - B1100 for the old rooms and B1600 for newer rooms. I booked the old rooms, assuming they were the same rooms I had had all along, however I copped a room down a series of little hallways down the back - they were dark and musty. Checked out the next day. Nana, Majestic and Dynasty were all booked and luckily found an absolute gem down Soi 4.
Maybe 200 meters further up from Nana Hotel, on same Side was Swan Bar. There are three or four around here all numbered. I think this was '4' and opposite was another with cheapo accomodation - B600, but didn't go in.
'4' looks just like a pool bar but at the back is a small desk with rooms upstairs.
The rooms were small but immaculately clean. Wooden floor boards with a little balcony overlooking the Soi - although can't see too much beside the roof of the bar downstairs and hundreds of powerlines, but it added light and air. B800. Don't have contact details but when I was there I only saw a handful of guests - I think the have about 12 rooms or so over three floors. Quite homely. Cable tv and maybe room service from the bar downstairs but don't quote me on that and 5 minute walk to Nana.
Cheers.

I visited LOS for the first time last year and I'll be back later on this year. As many of you know websites only carry a percentage of hotels in Sukhumvit or anywhere else in Thailand for that matter.
It may be wise to book in a recommendable hotel (via internet) for the first night, then look around for alternative accomodation once you're there.
Cheers

Of course, Ruamchitt is no LL. Overall, LL is a much better choice. It's just that sometimes one needs a change of pace.

Interesting. I would guess that folks are starting to feel the pain of higher airfares resulting from fewer flights and high fuel surcharges. But it could simply be that they over-reached. I personally went away from them when they jacked the rate for the nicer wing to 2800, and I booked the CitiChic instead for my last trip. I certainly would have stayed at the Dynasty Grande had they kept the 2280 rate early last December. I wonder how many other customers that they lost due to that big price hike. Obviously, they felt the pain.

Dynasty Inn (Soi4) is 1480, it was 990 3-4 years ago.
Nana is 1490 , Majestic suites is 1315
These prices are pretty high compared to the 2280 for Dynasty Grande
With the lower US dollar that has really raised the price of staying around Nana,
It would be nice if there were more decent 1000 baht places , I may have to hunt around next time and see what available

For this price I would go back there. Its O.K. that the breakfast is not included, as the daytime cook was terrible at anything other than Thai food. I would strongly consider staying there but eating breakfast/lunch nearby instead.
If you do eat there, order something Thai or very basic that is hard to stuff up.

Hello,
I am planning to stay - Ambassador Hotel, does anyone have any information? Do the offer "room" service etc? They do have room service, but it is not girl friendly. Especially if you are staying on the south tower(low budget area of the hotel). Last year I made a reservation for 2 and checked in. The second guest of course joined me that evening. They almost made me pay extra for my companion. They let the 2nd guest in only after registering at the front desk. I left Ambassador the following day and walked up to Grand president, just up the street.

Hard to believe, given their location, but Asiatravel advises that MacBoutique charges a 1000 B joiner fee. In practice, who knows what they'd do, but it's a bit pricey to experiment.

Hello,

What kind of information are you looking for? They do accept "guests", but they did have a "joiner fee" of 500 baht years back. I hear that the joiner fee is still in place. The annoying thing, is that you know the guy watching the elevator is probably pocketing the baht. If you book a double, then the fee did not apply. You would need to do the math, to see if this works out for you.
There's a clever way to get around this, mentioned years ago by another poster. There's a stairway to the 2nd floor, which you will see. I think they have the meeting rooms on that level. Take the stairs to that level and catch the elevator up to your room from the 2nd floor. Not sure if they closed that option with a "guard" or not. You do take the risk, that the girl could cause some trouble and she would not be "registered".
They have a Spa\Fitness Center, so they probably have the in-room massage. Extra's really depends on the girl. There is also a massage place just off the lobby, next to the shops on the right hand side of the entrance coming in to the hotel lobby or to the left if you are exiting. Had an ok massage and nice hj there, and the girl suggested takeout the next time. Not a repeat for me, with too many other options.
The Spice Club is down in the basement level, just off the lobby area (staircase leading down to the club, with an exit leading to the parking lot). A couple of restaurants on premises, decent food but not great, lot's of clubs and bars in the area from Soi 3 through Soi 11, so the location is good. A bit of a walk to the Sky Train, but very manageable.
There's also Sabai Sabai right across Soi 11, behind the 7-11. I would recommend them over the Spa or Massage place off the lobby area. They do take out and it's right across the street, so they can be in your room very fast. The girls do tend to ask alot for fs, so be prepared to bargain.
It's been years since I stayed at the Ambassador, but by all accounts, things have not changed. They did not have an in-room safe, which for me is a "must have" and unfortunately the hotel was showing it's age back then and I never went back. My only recent visits were for my Spice Club fly-by's. I do recall the Beer Garden\Food Court outside the Ambassador, which is now long gone.
Good luck!

I stayed in December last year, first of all you should not stay in main tower.
They do charge for joiner.
The Health Club do give a HJ for Baht 1000. Location wise, it is ok, but rest is left to hit and miss, I would not stay there again.

I always book double rooms regardless (just in case)!
It can't be more than 300m from Ambassador to the skytrain, which is O.K. unless weather is real bad.
Come on, most of us need the exercise to help keep the weight off. Sexercise just isn't enough.
This doesn't mean I would choose Ambassador.
For most massage parlours you have the girl on the premises, so GF Hotel not needed.
For bar girls there are plenty of short time Hotels near to Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy.
So its only when you want a girl for the whole night that a GF Hotel is necessary.
Its not the end of the world to be hit by a joiner fee, if not every night, although its never happened to me to pay a joiner fee.
I guess I have always chosen a suitable Hotel when in mongering mode, but I do recall the management checking for double room booking on occasions.
When having a massage, choose the best MP to suit your requirements. It doesn't need to be right at your Hotel (IMHO)!
There is no way I would use an MP in Soi 11 (even when I stay in Soi 11) when I could go to Tulip for a porn-star, or Angel26 or Thonglor2, or a nice Soapy.
But then again I am crazy. I like gorgeous hot wanton and willing babes and don't really care if they can massage or not.
Be prepared to get a little exercise by trying various reliable venues is my motto.

LOL! It's a habit that I mention walking distance. It's probably a Hawaii thing, but it could apply elsewhere. People in Hawaii will run Marathon's, Surf, Swim, Hike, Bike, but then park a car about a hundred yards from the Mall and grumble about the walk .. in beautiful weather! I don't get it, but because of that, I tend to bring it up in my posts. If it's raining .. don't get me started on that one! It's not a far walk (2 to 3 blocks) and no, I would not use that as a reason to avoid the Ambassador.

I agree. The in house massage should only be used as a last resort. There are too many great places with top notch talent and Tulip, Angels, Thonglor2, etc, would all be better picks. They do close, though, and in a pinch (say 3:00am in the morning), Sabai Sabai comes in handy. Yes, sadly .. I am a horndog and I have had 3:00am and 4:00am sessions.

Yes you need places to cover almost any time.
I find that by 3:00AM I should have already had a couple of sessions (at least) and should be time for sleep. I'm to old to be at my peak performance at 3 or 4 in the morning.
Its 8 or 9AM when I am desperate for a girl, with hard-on ready to go, if haven't got one for the whole night.

Hello,
I am planning to stay - Ambassador Hotel, does anyone have any information? Do the offer "room" service etc?Dear Friend,
Forget about the Ambassador.
They are not girl friendly.
The service is poor.
Regards
AT2 - not to mention that for some unexplained reason Thai just look at you "funny" if they see you walking (which is my primary transportation mode in muangthai for distances up to 2 km or more depending on how sweaty I want to get.)
If you think Thai don't like to walk just try Cambodia :)

"Na Rak" is right. Most of us wouldn't consider the Ambassador as a good alternative. Look through the Hotels thread for recent recommendations like "S15" for example is very new, well placed on Sukhumwit road, etc.
That would be my recommendation. Or if you are keen on a more boutique cheaper style, the Livingstone's Lodge (but it it has naughty girls in the "Sports Bar").

Washburn: I emailed mac boutique and was told they don't charge a joiner fee. But the price is 100 baht more than citichic, so not sure if a bargain.
A few days ago I asked a question about 'cozyatten.com' didn't hear anything about it, and it seems a very basic hotel (which is not for me) so dropped it.
My choices come down to Citichic and Dynasty Grande, (and possible mac boutique). Dynasty is smack dab in the middle of it, for Citichic I guess you gotta walk a bit. Though you get breakfast. Both have Gyms and Pools, but someone did report about masturbating japaenese women at the Citichic! I wonder how many newbies are going to post useless comments and not RTFF for that little gem! Sorry.
I am arriving on the 12th, for two nights, anybody want to hang? . I had bought a 'True' sim last time I was in BKK but I think it has expired, I don't think I will need to have a number for just two nights. But if anyone knows if they will restart it, please do let me know.

Normally when you top up your phone account, it will tell you the expiry date for the SIM is extended to ....
I have found with 12call that it may not expire exactly on that date. May have a month perhaps grace to get it going again before it will be totally cancelled.
I can switch my phone on with Thai SIM OS and type in *120# to find out how mnay Baht remain and expiry date.
I'm sure there will be a web site explaining the procedures for your provider.
You can always call the "Call Centre" personal and ask them when you can keep the number till.
But hey, SIMs are cheap now. Its often cheaper to get a new SIM each trip rather than extra top ups just to last till a date.
With some providers there is a trick, e.g. 12call. Find a Thai bar girl on the same provider.
She can tranfer some of her un-needed huge number of expiry days to your your phone number (SIM). You can give her a suitable tip that will make both of you happy or you can transfer "Baht credit" from your phone to hers.

Does anyone know if the Courtyard by Marriott at this location:
Courtyard Bangkok 155/1 Soi Mahadlekluang 1, Rajdamri Road,
Bangkok , Thailand 10330
Is girl friendly? Has anyone stayed at this hotel before? Had any experience with it? I guess it is pretty far away from the action but unfortunately the JW Marriott is not available the night I arrive. I know I don't have to stay at a Marriott, but I am using my award points.

The Conrad is definitely friendly. You are right about the location, as it is a very short convenient cab ride to the action - as an SPG elite member, I prefer the Plaza Athenee, just up the street about 200 meters or so. If the weather is pleasant, and not the sauna that Bangkok often is, the distance is walkable. I usually walk from the Plaza Athenee to the Nana area and then cab it back with my newly found friend.
Can't speak to the Marriott Courtyard.
Personally, I think that the location of the Conrad and Plaza Athenee is ideal if you need to be reasonably close to the action, but not TOO close when dealing with business associates or non-pro companions.
As for Marriott properties, have you considered the Marriott Mayfair serviced apartments? As a serviced apartment, they will definitely be friendly.

I thought the disco at conrad was great. But I don't stay there. Too expensive.
Hi, I will be visiting Bangkok first week of August. I am there to fuck an old lover of mine and not THAT (probably I am fully occupied) interested at sight seeing or action.
I am looking for hotels that cost about USD40-50 per night, are there any you guys would recomend? My lover works near the Siam Square, so she says it would be best to be near there. So far, I am going for
Astera Sathorn hotel Bangkok
The Astera Sathorn hotel was previously known as Sathorn Villa.
Address : 481 South Sathorn Road, Yannawa, Bangkok
My friend will be staying with me. So, yeah, don't think I have time to go around, unless she allows.
Any info/recomendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PS: I saw recomendation of asiatravel.com at the Thailand FAQ. IS it safe/reliable to book from them? thanks.

South Sathorn Road is defintely not that convenient/close to Siam Square.
Centrepoint Langsuan (or Centrepoint Wireless) would be a much more convenient choice.
Other nearby Hotels: Patumwan Princess, Asia Hotel, Holiday Inn, however I haven't stayed at these so you would need to do a search to see what others think of these.

Had decided to stay here when at last minute found CitiChic and Dynasty Grand to be full. Looked nice on the web. Getting here was a bit of an issue initally as is down a ways on Soi 7 which is one way. Some construction accross the street and generally in a dark part of the Soi (its a 1-2 minute walk down from the beer garden); though fairly convenient if you want to pick from there (I didn't go in) or if you pick street walkers/FLs (there was a pack of three potential jalbait (yet very hot) options last night as I walked back. My experience with the young and the moody/pouty kind of girls led me to shirk away, though I could have been proven wrong. Very tempting.
They don't charge a joiner fee or anything as such, I had called a girl over from Love Teen whom I had had a good time with the night I got in, when she arrived they phoned up from the front desk and escorted her to my room, as the hotel is a bit more family oriented. The lobby etc. Are very nice; the rooms though a bit small are appointed ok and the bathroom also small, but ok. Serve a decent breakfast. I had booked a smart suite for 2600 a night, on check in they told me had been upgraded to a Junior Suite on the 8th (top) floor.
What I didn't know was that this is smack dab in the heart of what may be little middleeast/india! In fact when I was getting dropped from the airport I think I passed a street (on Soi 5) which was named middle east street. The hotel also caters specifically to a middle east/muslim crowd. Which if, you are coming from the middle east, is not so much fun. I mean I just left a land of Abaya wearing women and pushy arabs! Though up the street a bit is a tony romas and you can get a full slab of baby backs, which I hadn't had in years!
All in all, not a bad hotel, was not very crowded at all, though, close to most of the action, either way you have to walk to get to any hotel so the walk down soi 7 not so much an issue (though at night its not that well lit as is upto Beer Garden, so if you are walking back with a SW or other WG, maybe an issue? ); It's a ten/fifteen minute walk to Darlings or Annies; five minutes (probably) to Eden and fairly close to NEP; though next time I will try CitiChic or Dynasty Grande.

If she says its near then its near. But not near in my opinion. However its probably 5 stops on the BTS (skytrain) from 'Siam Square' to 'Saphan Taksin' so maybe that is O.K.
I think Astera is going to be close to the Sathorn Bridge over the Chaopraya River.
I wouldn't stay there personally but each has their own requirements and I don't really know the location.
Giving facts is easy but opinions are just opinions.
In the end, think about what things you want to be near to when she is at Siam Square. Most of us mongers would rather be in Sukhumwit not too far from some action.
Majestic Suites would be my pick, in your shoes, although they get heavily booked.
On this Map:
http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=au&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=112522687346612693021.00044836624e9b986acc9&ll=13.743804,100.534344&spn=0.061279,0.066175&z=14
Siam BTS Station should be right in the middle.
Saphan Taksin (Astera area) is in the bottom left corner.
If you can't think of any good reasons to change your mind, then stick to Astera.
If you REALLY won't have any time away from her, then just stay where pleases her and in that case you don't need any advice from me.

Booked in night before last. After my last stay, this has become my favourite.
Most places were closed last night due to Buddist Holiday, LL was alive and well despite low season. The rains dampened things a bit, but most stayed on and the eating area by the pool was quite full for most of the evening.
I recommend this place for both the first timer and the veteran.
Couldn't find a recent post on this hotel - can any provide any info, e.g. GF, near any parlours or clubs, etc?
Thanks in advance

I stayed at the Dream Hotel recently, in part because of the recommendations of an enthusiastic member of this forum.
Pleased to confirm that the Dream is GF. No hassle with ID cards, or extra charges; also had 2 girls, no problem.
The only slight hiccup was that breakfast for the girl was extra because my room was booked only for single occupant. I think that this could be corrected by booking double occupancy given that the charge is the same for double as single, or perhaps simply by speaking to the front desk.
Very friendly hotel staff. The occasional hot topless guest at the pool (Dream 2 just behind the original Dream has the pool). Good location between Soi Cowboy and Nana. Cool lighting in the room. Impresses the girls.
Hard for taxis to find but the hotel has a little card with the address on it. No problem once I learned to say Sukhumvit Soi Sip Hah (Soi 15) and then tell the driver to keep going straight (throng pai) till we got to the hotel which is some distance down the soi from Sukhumvit.
Overall would recommend. Also give my thumbs up. Both left and right!
Have stayed their five times and echo all of Washburn's comments. Other than a little pricey for BKK, the Dream has going for it. A great location, friendly discreet staff and small but very comfortable rooms.

Couldn't find a recent post on this hotel - can any provide any info, e.g. GF, near any parlours or clubs, etc?
Thanks in advance
Dacapo,
There's a search function that works very well. Just remember to select the country and view as "report" option, and you will get great lists of reports for any topic you choose.
For the Holiday Inn Silom, you will be located near the Surasak BTS station. If you are staying with family, then I understand the choice. If you are in BKK for R&R, then it's not a great choice. Two stops north on the BTS (Skytrain) takes you to Patpong (Sala Daeng Station) and about a 10 minute walk to your left (If you are facing Patpong) you will stumble upon Soi Thaniya (Japanese style pubs/bars). Two stops further north from Sala Daeng takes you to Siam Station, which is the transfer point to the Sukhumvit Skytrain line. Sukhumvit Soi 2 through Soi 33 are the stops for half of the Bangkok action. Buy the all day or multiday pass. Just a few bucks and you can use it all day, hopping from stop to stop .. no hassles.
The key stops on Sukhumvit BTS line are Nana (Nana Plaza, oil massage parlors and bar after bar), Asoke (Soi Cowboy, More bars, more oil massage parlors, and transfer to the MRT to Soapy Massage land), Phrom Pong (Soi 33 bars, more massage parlors, Emporium Shopping Plaza) and Thong Lo (More bars, more massage parlors). Check the Bangkok and Bangkok Massage threads to get a feel for what's at each stop. Check the link below for the BTS map. The spelling for each stop can vary, so don't get confused if there's an h or r missing or added.
The Asoke BTS stop is the transfer point (need to exit the BTS and go downstairs to the MRT subway station), to get to Huai Kwang and Suthisan which are home to many of the best Soapy Massage parlors.
Traffic gridlock will be your worst enemy, that's why it's important to understand the MRT and BTS system. In terms of gauging distance, each stop is about a 15 minute walk apart or 5 to 7 minute ride apart.

Good luck!

Dacapo,
For the Holiday Inn, you will be located near the Surasak BTS station. AT2
There is also another Holiday Inn on Ploenchit Road at the Chit Lom BTS station. It is right across the street from the Grand Hyatt and next to Gaysorn Shopping Center. It is a bit removed from the action but a two stop ride down to Nana and other things.

GF status seems to be a subject of debate. The Traveler and Horntoad seem to indicate No and others indicate yes. My gut tells me yes, given the location, but who knows why all of these guys are having such different experiences with the GF issue.

Can anybody tell me about their GF policy?
Thanks

Interesting. I would guess that folks are starting to feel the pain of higher airfares resulting from fewer flights and high fuel surcharges. But it could simply be that they over-reached. I personally went away from them when they jacked the rate for the nicer wing to 2800, and I booked the CitiChic instead for my last trip. I certainly would have stayed at the Dynasty Grande had they kept the 2280 rate early last December. I wonder how many other customers that they lost due to that big price hike. Obviously, they felt the pain.Gentlemen,
Which wing at the Dynasty Grande is the "Nicer wing"?
Thanks

GF status seems to be a subject of debate.
Maybe GF needs to be carefully defined,
e.g.
Does it mean non-checked in guests not allowed in room at all; or
subject to joiner fee or bribe;
dependent on double room booking?
etc.
I recall one post saying GF but joiner fee required, which would be unfriendly in another view.
The other issue is that different Hotel staff may not be consistent and rules change over time if not being GF is hurting business.
I considred booking the Tai Pan 2 years ago, and was told by the staff it was 100% absolutely not GF. A rather large joiner fee was required, I think about 1,000.
There are so many other hotels, why take a chance at the Tai Pan?

The Tai Pan is in the perfect location for a Soi Cowboy mongering. Location location location is the key LOL...
Dont want to cross that 8 lane street while im drunk LOL..
Well what do you recommend?
Lately a lot of requests/questions have been about whether a particular hotel is GF or not. Here is what I did on my first visit to LOS many years ago.
I had booked a room through Asia Travel (www.asiatravel.com) but I needed to know if the hotel was GF or not. So I asked the agent the same. Does the hotel allow bringing girls to the room? Surprisingly I got a reply the next day with the answer, yes.
I would suggest the same for all those seeking the answer. Call/email the agent or the hotel directly and you will get the answer. Lot better than getting ambiguous answers from fellow posters.
So have fun and post your hotel experience here.

Good advice. The hotels are generally very forthcoming on this. I would add "and if the answer is yes, is there a joiner fee?".
AT2
Yes but even hotels with joiner fees I've never been asked for a fee or bribe. My firm books me a double room, my name and guest or Mr. and Mrs. at all times and never have had a problem. Of course I'm not taking a girl dressed like a **** drunker then anything at 3 am. Do they register the girls I check in with, usually yes they do, but after checking in with a girl, and I bring back other girls later in the trip, they never ask for other girls ID's.
So there really is not a good rule. I've read reports of joiner fees at some hotels where I've not had an issue before so it's confusing. There is no hard fast rule when it comes to girl friendly or not. But it seems like if you book a double and check in with a girl (if you have a steady or a girl you know, just check in with her) and you can get away without the joiner fee atleast in my experiences.

The confusion over "guest friendliness" is partly a matter of semantics and partly due to uneven enforcement of hotel policies. Probably the most widely used definition on the LOS punter boards would be that a "guest friendly" hotel must allow an unregistered guest to stay overnight without extra charge, i.e., no joiner fees. Moreover, you must be able to change guests every night or even several times in the same day.
However, you do not have an absolute right to bring back an unregistered guest even if you have paid for a double room. Whether an unregistered guest can stay the night with you is always at the discretion of the hotel, no matter what country you are in. In fact, many cities have local laws which forbid unregistered guests in hotels (I doubt this applies to Thailand!). A further point of confusion is that some hotels in some countries won't allow you to have an unregistered female guest in the room under any circumstances after a certain point in time, usually 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. in the evening. So guys used to more restrictive hotels may regard a hotel in LOS as guest friendly even if it charges a joiner fee because they can take an unregistered guest back with them.
Farang punters sometimes describe how they have snuck girls past the front desk or security by using some trick. Or they claim to have argued about a joiner fee and gotten the hotel to drop it. They consider the hotel to be guest friendly in practice if not theory. Guest friendliness, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Arguing about a joiner fee must involve a huge loss of face for the farang in front of the hotel staff and the girl, but some farang don't care about that, as long as they save a few hundred baht.
But even if we agree on a basic definition of guest friendly, it gets confusing. Some hotels in LOS allow you one unregistered guest without a joiner fee but charge a fee for a second or third. Some may permit certain guests to bring back unregistered guests without a joiner fee, but charge other guests who try the same thing. This can depend on what type of room the guest is staying in and the rate he paid for it. Some guests get highly discounted rates for one person and the hotel will ask for a joiner fee if an unregistered guest stays overnight. Finally, some hotels may impose a joiner fee to discourage rowdy guests. A hotel can be guest friendly, but that doesn't mean it welcomes wild partying. If you know that you'll be taking several girls back to your room each day as well as drinking heavily, you want to make sure your hotel is "monger firendly" as well as guest friendly.
For all these reasons, there can be conflicting reports about joiner fees at the same hotel. The best way is as Duniawala and others suggested - email the hotel or booking agency and ask whether a joiner fee is charged for unregistered overnight guests. The risk is, however, that some hotels will answer they charge joiner fees when in practice they don't. The hotel - particularly ones that are part of large chains - don't know who has sent the inquiry. It could be a journalist, an NGO or a corporate executive who only wants his employees to stay in non-guest friendly establishments. The hotel will play it safe and answer unregistered guests aren't allowed or that a fee is charged for them. The hotel's management doesn't want to read a magazine or newspaper article that claims the hotel encourages prostitution by allowing unregistered guests to stay overnight.
It's also important to keep everything in perspective. Joiner fees aren't a crime against humanity, they are simply a hotel policy. If it's in your power to choose the hotel on your own, then make sure you pick hotels that are explicitly guest friendly. If your employer or someone else assigns you (and pays for) a hotel that isn't GF, then pay the joiner fee yourself if you want an overnight guest. If you're on holiday and plan on 10 days or two weeks of wild mongering, then do your research and be certain to select an appropriate hotel.
Please note this applies to UNREGISTERED guests. If the girl registers at the hotel, "guest friendly" doesn't enter into the matter. Whether you've known her for 10 years or 10 minutes, as long as she REGISTERS with you, she's a guest on the same terms as every other guest. Also note that the front desk or hotel security collecting her ID isn't the same as registration. Registration means she gets her own key(card), can enter the room even if you aren't there, can order things and sign for them through room service, etc. Unless you know the girl very well and trust her to a high degree, it's a bad idea to register her.

Very informative and well done. I personally prefer it when a hotel asks the girl to leave her ID at the front desk. In other countries, some hotels even call up if she spot her leaving your room. That's 'service'....IMHO

I hate the wishy washy terminology of "girl friendly".
I ALWAYS book a Double for two regardless of my intentions. So i would have little or no trouble at Tai Pan it seems. However I would probably prefer Livingstone's Lodge because its only 5 mins to Soi Cowboy by taxi through the back Sois. Its even walkable distance in good weather (almost 1 km) and I need the exercise.

Comprised of a rambling collection of wooden and concrete buildings hidden down a Sukhumvit Soi 11 subsoi, Suk 11 is one of Bangkok's top backpacker guesthouses. Friendly English-speaking staff and comfortable, reasonably quiet rooms make this an ideal spot to relax in one of Bangkok's most vibrant areas. The rooms are clean, though basic and all rooms include breakfast. The common area and open-air cafe on the sub-soi are ideal for mingling with other guests. Reservations are usually required -- particularly in high season. Recommended.

Well, sometimes I am looking for a change. Nothing to do with budget. Well, on the other hand, the extra dough is good for an extra session.

And beside the MP, that are nearby the hotel, are there any other places to pick up a girl for the night? Or do I just have to get back to NEP/Soi Cowboy area?
And yes, I used the search button but only found advices to stay at other hotels.

Further down the road there is Federal Hotel. Used to stay there when in my own in the late seventies when not many options were available in BKK.
My company was using Meridien at that time but it was absolutely not GF.
Most probably they have renovated since then. They have a small swimming pool too. Very-very GF back then. Even for triple play.
Rates twice as those of Suk 11 but just another option nearby.

Zauberfee,
The location of the Radisson is not good. There are some massage parlours around there (i.e. Utopia (!) ), but that's it. The closest entertainment / bar area is here Soi 33, then Soi Cowboy and Nana.
The problem is to get away from that hotel, you end up in huge traffic jams whatever direction you go. You lose endless time to get out of that area between Rama 9 and Petchaburi Road.

I checked yesterday and Dream is 200m from Sukhumwit road on the right side of Soi 15 and corner of Soi connecting to Soi 19. It has a 2nd building across this small Soi. So it would only be a total of 500m to Soi cowboy. Agoda Map pin is a little off position, but then I can't find any Maps placing Hotels at all accurately.
However I prefer S15 which is right on Sukhumwit and therefore 200m less to cowboy and close to Asoke BTS. Will check in there tomorrow and report later how it was.
So far its just been too easy and convenient to check in to Livingstones Lodge. The back Sois here clog up badly late in the afternoon, so at that time I either walk to MRT station or take a motorcycle to Soi Cowboy. But earlier like midday, its quite easy to get a taxi out of Soi Prom Pong into Petchaburi Road to then go to Ratchada, Rama 9, or Pratu-Nam.
You just have to know the traffic situations and what is best travel option,: BTS, MRT, Taxi, or walk?
The friendliness of Livingstone's Lodge staff is so exceptional that I was moved to "ring the bell" (first time in my life i think) and shout them all a drink. Came to 3K Baht or so.

Have stayed at S15 one night now.
Its on corner of Sukhumwit and Soi 15. New (1 year old). Big glass front (near to Asoke BTS station). LL is near to Phrom Phong (a little bit longer walk to MRT).
Room here is 2700 Baht or so (plus tax I think). Standard room at LL (similar size) is a quite a few hundred Baht cheaper. LL has special discounts for multi-day stays too. The room at S15 is a little more modern of course (only 1 year old).
S15 has video player in room (LL does not).
Free wifi Internet connection at S15 is unreliable and slow at times, acceptable at other times. I found LL internet connection to be very fast and reliable for the whole week.
S15 internet frustrates me at times. Google Maps pages very slow. ISG attach photo slow.
The bed is very nice at S15 and has slightly softer pillows than LL. S15 floor is part carpet part large smooth tiles.
LL is polished timbre I think.
The aircon in my room at S15 seems to have strange thermostat. Seems to be virtually either on or off. At times a little too warm, then after fiddling, at times too cold. Didn't have any problem with air-con at LL.
The bathroom at S15 is bigger than LL standard room but smaller than LL deluxe room that is priced similar to S15. S15 drain has some odour but his is very common in Thailand.
Drainage of water in the bathroom floor is reasonable in this room. Its common in Thailand workmanship for floor to slope wrong way (not to drain hole).
Strangely S15 locates wardrobe in the bathroom. All the better for steaming your clothes?
Servicing of the room was faultless at both places. No complaints at all.
S15 has probably 70 rooms, so its big enough to have a small scale buffet breakfast. At 9AM only 15 people were at breakfast, so Hotel cannot be anywhere near full (its low season). Buffet had just a few hot dishes beyond absolutely standard fare, such as peppered chicken, baked spinach and cheese, for example. LL has no buffet, but I get virtually the smae breakfast there by simple order system.
There are more staff per customer at LL so get better coffee refill service.
I don't know anyone here so it feels a bit dead after LL.
S15 has no pool. LL does have a nice pool with good water temp.
S15 has a very city feel. LL has a tropical island or oasis feel to it. S15 has just 2 lifts and lift can get very crowded. LL is just 2 stories and no lift.
LL has a restaurant with very good helpful staff. At S15, I don't know.
S15 has slightly easier access to freeway to the airport than LL, but have to go wrong way on Sukhumwit and U-turn back.
S15 is a prim and proper place, but reportedly GF. LL has pretty girls hanging around outside or in the sports bar and GF.
Walking on Sukhumwit late at night near to S15, you have to run the gauntlet to escape from LBs and street freelancers.
S15 seems a good option for those who might normally choose Dynasty Grande or Majestic Grande, but want to be closer to MRT or Soi cowboy, and do not require a pool.
Its location is more convenient than Grand President but I can't say its better. Its not going to be best choice if on a tight budget.
If you want value for money, I think LL standard room is the better option (that I keep going back to).
If you want a bigger room with small jacuzzi at LL, then pay a few hundred Baht more.
P.S. In this season, more than half of the S15 guests are from Asia (families and young people) and some from middle eastern countries.

Left S15 Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 15 today at 3:15 PM.
5 mins in taxi to get to Asoke (traffic). U turn back to expressway and then to Suwanaphuum Airport was there by 3:45PM. Just before the worst rush hour I guess.
When traffic is O.K. can be very quick.
From Dynasty Grande would have been even quicker.
If I was leaving from Livingstones and pushed for time, I would walk pulling bag out to Sukhumvit road and cross over, so that taxi ride to expressway might be a lot quicker.
Next time I would probably not choose S15 only due to frustrating internet service.
Dynasty Grande is a better option in the similar price bracket (although slightly less conveniently located) and don't eat there other than Thai food!
But Livingstones is cheaper and having NO substantial faults for my requirements!

Rack rates don't mean much anyway as Agoda had 2722++ (+17% taxes).

The public holiday won't cause you any problems with your mongering. It will be business as usual in the places you will hang out.
Chic Hotel is good - its 3/4 along soi 13 so about 15 minute walk from either Cowboy or NEP. orTaxi along greenway to NEP (could take a while as traffic is often jammed up) or taxi to Cowboy along Suk..... or to any of the great Soapy / Oilly experiences described by MicK & others. I live around the corner - it's a good place to be.
BTW the vietnamese restaurant next door is very good
Girls .... it depends on your taste & budget - Plenty to choose from for LT all around there. The Uzbek girls stay in the hotel next door so that's an interesting option, but the Thai girls are much better looking and much better value and service. PM if you want more details.
You know the usual fare:

For joiner fees, we will charge 1,000 THB/Person/Night or you can book as double occupancy but that joiner have to come to check in/check out with you.
We will copy her ID Card for your personal security as well. For late check out, we appreciated offer you untill 14.00THB with no charge / 14.00-16.00 half day charge.

Situated in Soi7/1, this is budget accomodation (@ B1100). It is centrally placed, just a minute from Nana BTS. Many bars all around and only about 50m from Eden.
Cons: The furnishings are basic but if you're the type of person who spends most of the time outside then it's ok
Pros: Soft matress and pillow and quite clean
In the same soi as Maxim's Inn one may find World Inn. I passed earlier on taday and found the rooms to be clean. At 1100B including breakfast, this is not a bad deal. It is also GF.
Some of the bars there ie soi7/1 also have rooms for rent. I haven't ventured there yet but i will and hopefully report on the situation

I am thinking of staying at CitiChic Hotel. newish, modern, hip (um, ok, clean and neat)
Question: Since I am visiting Bangkok for the Nana - Soi Cowboy - Soi 33 trifecta, is this a good location. I will actually be in BKK twice this trip so i could do two hotels like CitiChic and majestic.
Any way, is Citichic in the right spot -- http://www.citichichotel.com/map_nearby.html -- I know how hot a 5 - 10 block walk can get even at 8PM.
Oh, they tell me they are a friendly place. :)
Thanks

Look about 3 responses below and there is a short critique of the Chic Hotel. It's a good place, but not in the abso;ute heart of the action. at least 10 minutes walk from NEP, 15 from cowboy, 5 down to Sukhumvit. There aren't girls hanging about the immediate area - it is on Soi 13.
But it's a nice place, new and modern rooms - and it's on the greenway so there are cabs going by constantly.

I'm thinking of staying at the City Lodge soi 19 because its close to soi cowboys action. An alternative is S15 just for the better rooms.. But most of our action will center around Cowboy.. Is there a better located hotel than city lodge that at least three starts ... Oh and not the Taipan... looks kind of old the rooms..
Thanks for your help....

Which of the 2 Marriotts is the best to stay at in Bangkok for mongering. The J.W. or the Marriott resort & Spa? Thanks, for any info.
I stayed at J.W many times and would choose this one. They are GF and very respectful to the girls when you eat with them in the restaurants or approach the front desk area. They don't do the sneering and looking down routine....and don't ask any questions. I like this place.
Peterbeijing,
Im posting this from CitiChic Hotel. Excellent room, 37"LCD TV, Bath Tub,
Superbly clean rooms and really superb service! Free wifi too.
Just checked in, will go check out the Vietnamese food later and really really
later, will get some action:)

Does anyone knows if Nana Guesthouse still there?
Remember it 15 years ago. Stayed there many times when in BKK.
It was inside Nana Plaza and I think I payed around 350baht.
There was a nice middleage TG working there or maybe the owner.
Short walk to Hollywood...

One of the hotel web sites said that City Lodge Soi 19 has no elevator is this true.
Can any one confirm or deny this info?.
Thanks
I stayed at the LeFenix Sukhumvit Hotel the other night. It's an interesting hotel in a good location on the end of Soi 11. Style-wise, it has that trendy, minimalist look that's getting more popular in Bangkok (white and pastel colors, flat screen TV, comfortable bed, subtle mood lighting. etc.). The hotel staff was very efficient and friendly.
The very first page of the in-room hotel guide outlined their guest policy (i.e., no guests; there is a joiner fee). Skirting this, though, I had a spirited in-call massage for about three hours and there were no issues with that. My favorite massage gal is pretty good at floating in and out wherever she goes. Probably would work OK for short time.
I was able to find a good last minute rate (the day before) on ratestogodotcom. There's good rates on the hotel website, too.
BTW, I've used Sabai Sabai Massage for hotel delivery a number of times now and it's been well worth it.

The Map is not to scale so its worth pointing out that Citichic is at least 400metres down Soi 13.
Worry about rain more than heat right now.
Thats the only reason I chose S15 recently. To avoid that extra 400-500 metres and be very central to mongering venues. But I would like to give Citichic a go some time soon, as it is well rated.
Hotels right on Sukhumwit, its worth considering S15, Ruamchit Plaza, Majestic Suites. All with reviews posted.
I will go back to Livingstone's Lodge this weekend, which just a short walk into Soi 33. My time is short. My favourite Oily MPs are close. Its also a short taxi or motorcycle ride through back Sois to Cowboy and the MRT. For Nana Plaza, I would walk out and cross Sukhumwit at the pedestriation crossing, then an easy short taxi ride to Nana provided not peak hour. If you want to spend heaps of time at Nana (and I don't), then Majestic or Dynasty Grande are good options.
Le Fenix is ok.
Its best to smuggle them in through the elevator that goes to the street, as in you meet them outside and take them up, or if you pick them up from outside you take them in with you.
If the wander aimlessly past reception on their own they will be asked to register and deposit their ID card and then you are at the mercy of the reception girls as to whether they want to charge you a joiner fee or not.
You can book direct with good last minute rates directly at the hotel website :
http://www.lefenix-sukhumvit.com/
If you into banging girls in Q bar or Bed Superclub, then Le Fenix is "ideal location".

The Malaysia Hotel off Rama 1V , was OK but forget it now so try the REX Hotel on Sukhumvit Road near Soi 34 and the Skytrain. Anything around Nana has gone up in price and down in value.

CitiChic is around a 400m walk to Sukhumvit or to the Biergarten. And the swimming pool is very small. Other than that, the place is great. If you're familiar with the location of the President Solitaire, it's right next door. The LeFenix is only about 100m closer to those strategic places, and I believe it is inferior to CitiChic, and certainly not as friendly.
Now that the Dynasty Grande has come down off of their jacked up 2800 baht rate from last year, I think it's a better choice than CitiChic, due to location and a better swimming pool. But they are both among the better choices, in the group of full service hotels that are a cut above the Majestic Suites/Dynasty Inn/Nana Hotel class of place.

I'm going to BKK first time November. Looks like Majestic Suites is less expensive than many, and clean. If you get a single, do you usually need to pay joiner fee? They emailed me and said with Double, no joiner fee, but haven't heard from them (yet) on the single joiner fee issue. Do most of the GF hotels in this area have joiner's fees? Thanks for your help--I'm an ignorant noobie.

Majestic Suites does not charge joiner fees. Very convenient if you plan to hit Nana Plaza as it is right around the corner. Only difference if you book a single vs. double is you get one breakfast and not two. Most hotels in this area are GF. A few are not and charge joiner fees are Ambassador, Zenith and Amari.

Single rooms are quite small and have a Queen size 5ft bed, whereas Double rooms are larger and have a 6 Ft King Size bed.
You do get only 1 breakfast coupon though. Also they have free wifi starting 1 November, a welcomed addition.

Just came back from Majestic Suite and I confirm there's no joiner fee. Totally GF ! The security person will request your local lady partner the ID or some sort of identification before you go up. Breakfast is generally good and is available at the ground floor ( from 7.30 onwards ) and also the 7th Floor. The ground floor is generally more quiet and serves same buffet served at 7th floor.
Rooms suits me fine , however .. no free internet ! That's the only lousy point. Paid USD 85 through asiarooms.com, which I am very please. Location closed to Nana action places and Annie's MAssage is just right opposite the hotel.

Hi Xerus,
Asiarooms.com are normally OK, though I prefer Agoda.com for hotel reservations. I this case, at $85, you were grossly overcharged.
Look at www.majesticsuites.com/budget_hotel_bangkok.html . They quote between 1350 THB for 'Single Studio' and 2050 THB for 'Double Deluxe'.
Using www.oanda.com/convert/classic and adding the 2% CC foreign currency surcharge even the most expensive room should be under $63.
I am pretty sure, that the $12/day would have covered the broadband internet fee.
From a different POV: on a 5 days stay, you could have had a session at Nataree or Tulip for free!

As Horntoad pointed out below, Xerus was talking about the Majestic Grande, not Majestic Suites. The rate of $85.00 for the Majestic Grande is pretty much in line with the going rates and even cheaper than many other booking sites. Now if they would put a stop to their outrageous internet charge, they would be one of the even better deals in BKK.

I used to book on Agoda or Precision Reservations as I think they called themselves before.
Nowdays I found that they are adding a fee (which they prefer to name as tax) on their bookings.
Because of this I have for my recent and next trips changed to www.directrooms.com which I think have one of the cheapest rates. Very good service as well.

To all brother, I was asked by my good friend to organize a get away to Bangkok for a few friends to celebrate the "end of his bachelorhood".
I have narrowed down the hotels to Ambassador & Zenith. Could someone familiar with Bangkok and its great nightlife advice me on which hotel is closer to the bars and the great massage places like Tulip, etc. Alternatively, if these 2 hotels are far from the happening place, could you be so kind as to recommend some other hotels closer to the actions.
There will be 5 of us going and we planned to spend 4D/3N in Bangkok partying and getting laid. We planned to go in mid-October 2008.
Hope some brothers will be kind enough to response.
Thanks in advance.

Zenith and Ambassador is right in the middle of the action close to Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. Unfortunately for you, both of these hotels are not GF friendly and have joiner fees. How much are you looking to spend? The higher end hotels are Westin, Sheraton Grande, Majestic Grande and maybe Dream which are all over one hundred dollars. Tulips is easy to get to as it is right next to the Thonglor BTS station.
If you are looking for GF friendly hotels which are in the price range of your two aforementioned hotels, then there is Majestic Suites, Dynasty, Nana Hotel, Grand President to name a few. Just read the hotel thread and there are some great recomenndations from the guys.

In that case, we will have to consider alternative. Is Tai-Pan Hotel a suitable hotel? Is is located near to the Asoke and Nana areas? Good soapie places nearby is a must.
Pricing is not a big issue as the guy who is about to "end his bachelorhood" days has given us the no-hold limit. We want to celebrate for him and may want to let him "go for it" until his legs shake (threesome, foursome,...who knows).
Hope for some advice.

Dude, I'm cracking up because you are picking hotels that are not GF and that's hard to do around the Sukumvit area!! The Sukumvit area is not known for soapies with only Annie's and Darling's around. If you really want to go to soapies, then I would recommend staying in the Ratchada area. The two hotels I would recommend are Palazzo(1700baht) or Hip Hotel(1600 baht). I would recommend staying at the Westin or Sheraton then because that is right next to the skytrain to Tulips and other areas and also the subway which will take you to the soapies in less than 15 minutes.

You mentioned money is not an issue so again, the hotels over a hundred dollars are Westin, Sheraton, Marriott and Majestic Grande. If you are looking for something around $60, then I would recommend Majestic Suites, Nana Hotel or Dynasty but these are only 3 stars at best but popular among the mongers.
You mentioned money is not an issue so again, the hotels over a hundred dollars are Westin, Sheraton, Marriott and Majestic Grande. Actually the rates for Westin, Grand Sheraton or JW Marriott are nearer 200 $ then 100 $ per night.

That's true and I'm priced out of the market for those hotels but he said money was not an issue. I think there are so many hotels that offer a much better value now.
I think there are so many hotels that offer a much better value now.It depends on how you define 'value'. I stayed at Sheraton Grande last week and I can assure that it was worth every penny I paid. High quality rooms, high quality amneties and for sure high quality services where nothing is to be complained about.

That's true and I'm priced out of the market for those hotels but he said money was not an issue. I think there are so many hotels that offer a much better value now.I dont think I would have choosen JW.
Majestic Grande though its not first class I know and a few blocks away the luxury of Conrads executive floors.
I dont think JW has the best reputation but location is nice.

Pricing is not a big issue as the guy who is about to "end his bachelorhood" days has given us the no-hold limit. We want to celebrate for him and may want to let him "go for it" until his legs shake (threesome, foursome,...who knows).
Hope for some advice.
Cheers

If pricing isn't an issue, you might want to consider a serviced apartment, especially if you're planning on having a lot of girls at once. The Davis on Soi 24 has a section called Baan Davis (Camp Davis), which features stand-alone, two-story, two-bedroom Thai "villas." They are exceptional in terms of furnishings - besides all the usual stuff, they include a full kitchen and even a washing machine. Great for private parties because there's room for 10-15 people at once.
Other good serviced apartments include the Emporium Suites, Fraser Suites, Omni Suites and the Centre Point properties (about five different in BKK). The Platinum Suites at the President Solitaire include a jacuzzi. The high-end suites at the Majestic Grande are also good for parties. A lesser known hotel, the Royal Ivory Nana on Soi 4, has a two-bedroom suite that is more reasonably priced but good for parties.
There are tons more. Google is your friend.

Hi all,
My pal and I are going to Thailand on 29th. We are pretty excited
We are searching for nice hotels with good price. GOOd price means 50-55$ per night. I am going to stay in Bangkok for 4-5 days, then will go to Phuket and stay there for 3 nights.
I am waiting for your suggestions and comments, not only for hotels but also bars, massage parlours and so on
Thanks in advance

I believe that you are under-rating the JW Marriott. IMHO, it's one of the very finest Marriotts in the entire world, and VERY comparable in quality to the Conrad and the Plaza Athenee - two other extremely fine hotels in the area. The JW is a genuinely superb hotel in pretty much every way. If the name on the door said Peninsula or Shangri-La, or St. Regis, it would not be an embarrasment to it's siblings at all.
The quality of the service at the JW is an order of magnitude better than at any other Marriott I have ever stayed at.

Bangkok - Livingstones
Phuket - Salathai resort
I though you might have problems with that budget in BKK.

Hi
Has anyone stayed at the Admiral Suites recently? It has good reviews on TripAdvisor (most of the negative points seem to focus on the distance to the skytrain, but it looks only about 500m away).
I'm trying to decide between Admiral and Aspen Suites, but the former seems to have a nice roof-top pool.

It sure is not 500 meter away... it is way up past queen's park.. can you walk it sure but it is not 500 meter by any stretch of the imagination. I stay at an apartment up that road and I personally enjoy the walk, but don't think it is close. Aspen is nice, I had a nice stay there. These are all run by compass hospitality.

In other words Ali.... there is a search function where you could type in the name of hotel, in this thread... and get a lot of reports on the hotel. There is also a great report of hotels by a member who took the time to compile the listing and post it here so people can read it and find their answers easier then just searching. AsiaTraveler2 posted it and it is listed under the reports of distinction even....
To be kind as I am in a nice mood today and to make up for my rude brother 1ball, i've stayed at 5 of those and had taken girls in all five of them. 4 of them are posted about almost every week it seems like. So I am sure you will have no problem finding reports if you read or search a little.
If you are really adventurous then you might even find out that a certain hotel (not one you listed above) has his own thread on the asia thailand area and his hotel is frequented by many ISG members... Especially newbies as he does provide assistance for many members...
Sorry Dad, I tried, I really tried, but the complete and utter laziness of the newbie got to me. I mean, all this guy does is ask dumb questions. He can't be bothered to even read a few pages.
10 USD says you never see a FR from him about one of these places.

What's that got to do with anything? An older hotel can certainly be kept to the very highest standards. The Mandarin Oriental was built in the 19th century. And some of the most disreputable people I've ever met stay there - it only takes lots of money and a willingness to spread it around. And it's still regarded as one of the premier properties in the world.

"The room assigned was average, old and dated. Furniture was old, and the carpets stained from long overuse.Next, the housekeeping standards are very sloppy, and for 2 nights, they forgot to come to turn down the bed! On one day, the housekeeping came very late in the late afternoon! This only after I reminded them twice!"
"The overall decor is quite tired - although it must have been an impressive place once."
"For around the same amount you'd be much better off at the Oriental, the Penninsula or the Shangri La."
And I agree that the JW is a wornout old hotel. But if I want to be close to the action Its an average choice but far from a good value.
The JW is always a holy cow to some...

LeFenix is not GF. I have stayed at LeFenix and was not charged a joiner fee even though ID was left at reception. Perhaps I was lucky.
In any case there is a lift from the ground level that bypasses reception if you are concerned.
I thought it was a nice hotel, but perhaps a little too far from the skytrain.

Hotel is very nice. Big room, bath with connected window to the room. Location is ok.

Today they stopped me at the reception with the girl. Asked for her ID card and checked if I booked a single or doubleroom. Of course I booked double, so they said "thank you sir, good night".
I just asked the reception: if you book single they will charge extra fee (for double room).
So be smart, book double, which is in internet or by travel agent the same as single
Anyway I like this hotel, friendly clean, only I found the walls are not very soundproof. My neighbour did make some famliar noise (or better to say his girl.)

The fact that you found some stupid reviewers on Tripadvisor proves nothing. There are plenty of those dumb folks on that site. I've stayed at the Conrad. It's very slightly nicer than the JW Marriott, but significantly less conveniently located. And the service I got at the JW was even better than the excellent service I got at the Conrad.

I can't speak for countries outside SE Asia, but in this part of the world Tripadvisor's rankings need to be taken with a grain of salt. Some seem so out of whack that you have to wonder if interested parties are rigging the results.

Top ranked places tend to be expensive, e.g. Grand Millenium, Conrad, etc.
I would prefer to keep my left over cash for the girls instead of waste it on a pompous Hotel! :D
On the other hand we each tend to have a personal minimum acceptable standard that must be reached.
A good internet service is essential to me (preferrably free).
Good food is a definite plus.
I would like to see separate popularity list for different price brackets, or a value for money list.
Then I think that Livingstone's could easily more up the ranking for the 2k price bracket (inclusive of breakfast and internet and ++ charges)

When I stayed at the JW Marriott, it was ranked 7th on Tripadvisor, and the Conrad was ranked 9th. I know for a fact that the JW Marriott got a couple of lousy (1 out of 5) reviews from genuinely bitter reviewers, which dropped it out of the top 20 - I wouldn't be surprised if you were not one of those reviewers. That being said, you obviously missed where I stated that I thought that the Conrad was very slightly BETTER than the JW Marriott, except for the location. Still, as has been pointed out, there are nearly 400 Bangkok hotels in TripAdvisor, and pretty much all of the ones in the top 10% are excellent places. The fact is, for THIS board, the JW Marriott's location is a plus, but ma and pa tourist could well strongly DOWNGRADE the place because it's near NEP, and all of the 50 year-old guys with their 20 year old Tilaks in tow offended them - at least one of the JW's bad reviews specifically mentioned that issue.
My only gripe with the JW Marriott is that it now costs double what it did when I stayed there.

Can you believe it, in my VERY early days on the forum I got mixed up between The Traveler and Traveler1234, very stupidly. After a couple of uncharcteristic aggressive posts from T1234 I thought he was a friend of the Traveler. How very wrong!
When I started to compile some links to Soapy reviews I found that T1234 has some very good posts and his unfriendly posts were less frequent than my own.
We all get pissed off by dickheads and have to consider putting someone on our "ignore lists" from time to time.
Then I met T1234 at the lodge and I realised he was the most friendly high class guys around. I look forward to our next catch up.

First thing that struck me is that you are so familiar with the TA and all the moms and dads and there opinions and rankings.
When I refer from it its stupid.
For this particular guy, money was obviously not a problem. You should know that there is not hard to get a cab near NEP and to take a few minutes ride to Conrad. Which is a slihgtly better hotel in your own opinion.
If location is the big issue then NANA hotel would be a better option with a few meters to NEP or the nearer p-lot.
For THIS board ?
The fact is that in THIS THREAD we are discussing BKK hotels and they dont necessary need to have a brothel down the basement. Nor beeing in the middle of some fucking area. So please do not try to make up the rules to this thread.
And one more thing Member #2041, I do not write any reviews on the TA, so that one didn`t get you anywhere.

I haven't seen a recent report on that hotel, so I will take the risk to repeat some previous comments as it might be useful for newbies. I will highlight features in all objectivity.
Definitive Pluses:
1) You can bring as many guests as you wish (threesomes are encouraged, as long as you are not screaming too hard), and entrance is very discreet.
2) Internet is free and well functioning, including next to the pool.
3) You can sit next to the pool, in the shadow, there are power plugs to connect your PC.
4) Pool is warmed up by the sun - unlike the pools of high rise buildings which are always in the shadow and therefore too cold to have a pleasant swim, floating on a buyo and sipping your beer. Also no children are splashing around.
5) There is a good in-house stable with quality girls. Management will not push for you to use it.
6) Mister Giotto is there to recommend you a few good alternative mongering places.
7) Rooms with double jacuzzi - not many hotels feature that.
8) Very high quality beds.
9) Very helpful and friendly staff, perfect cleaning of mess left in room (but I still politely remove the used condoms from the floor and hide the vibrating toys out of direct sight for not shocking the maids).
10) Restaurant serving quality food in a romantic setting around the pool, where you can sit and smoke a good cigar.
11) It is small, so if you forget something in your room you don't have to spend 5 minutes walking and waiting for a lift.
12) Breakfast is included and served until the afternoon around the pool. It is simple (no big buffet), but decent scrambled eggs.
Now - some factors to take into consideration to put Livingstones on the hard competitive map of restaurants and hotels in Bangkok.
9) Not too cheap. I personally find the value for money very good, but it is not suitable for all budgets.
10) Swimming pool is lacking beach chairs with plush towels for sun tanning.
11) Rooms furniture is a bit spartan, and no much closet space.
12) No remote control for airco.
13) It is not the hipping, flashy design, be the lobby, room furniture, glassware, seats... it has a bit of rusticity, but is all good to me.
Hoping this helps - I personally spend 300 nights per year in hotels, and I still come back to this one for some good reasons.
Cheers - SWS

Has this something to do with Livingstone's Lodge? And do you really think a grown-up man like T1234 changes his mind about a person he knows because of some people he met for some hours of his life at Livingstone's Lodge?
Is all this somehow a personal problem of yours? Lonely? Missing your friend TT? If not - why do you warm it up?
And why do you, who complained sometimes about this group of friends of Livingstone's who disturb the Thailand threads (I think you used some harsher words) do everything with your obvious tendentious posts that we stick even more together and support our friends? Isn't that quite normal?
Can you please explain to me the logic behind your posts?

On a different note, not sure where this should be posted but this is as good as any place to start and maybe someone can find a more appropriate thread. Reading today's Sunday NY Times and there was an article (several have been written re this in the past) about the behavior of one particular country's behavior. Not a knock by me on the Brits, please do not take this as a flame on them.....

I admit - I don't have your experience with this "ignore list" thing, and I am watching since some time that you are the target of humerous criticism when you somehow reply to a post of somebody who is on your "ignore list" ...
Now - all this is not really a problem, because we all should take it easy, and this forum is just for fun - so I decided not to get involved into this complicated issue "ignore list" and remain stupid using only the basic functions of this website :) ...
On the other hand - without the "ignore list" I can read EVERYTHING written in this forum, react emotional, create some flame wars, being the personified bad guy etc. etc. - but then, the next morning, I am sitting close to the pool, it is warm, blue sky, sunshine, having my breakfast ... life is not that bad :) !

I don't and can't read posts on my ignore list, but when someone answers that person, it does show up on the thread in that little 'quote' box....for instance, if you hadn't responded to TT, I wouldn't have even know he was talking about me :D
But you words of wisdom and advice is always respected and appreciated.
Back to reading my Sunday NY Times and may I suggest you log out and take care of Mrs. G ;)
... may I suggest you log out and take care of Mrs. G ;)Oh My God,
I obviously forgot something ... YIKES :):):)
Out and taking care ...

OK,
This is the Bangkok Hotel Thread.
If somebody needs a hotel in Bangkok:
http://www.livingstones.co.th
This is a reasonable hotel, not too good, not too bad. My hotel!
There are many other hotels in Bangkok. You find reports about them in the reports a bit below - page 2, 3, 4, 5, ...

That's the spirit. :)
Btw, I met The Traveler once (the same number of times as T1234?), and took a slight personal dislike to him as opposed to the impression I got of the other three guys who I met on the same occasion:
Terry, (don't want call you TT, it shivers me timbers) the other person was the much too often missed FIREDICK, who lives a lovely life in the burbs in the USA with his even more lovely TGF. He says hello.
PS. I am exactly how I come accross in the forum ? Yikes.......;)
You boys are in the wrong thread, move it to:
http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showthread.php?t=2586
Run, you're nearly right. It would be better if there was a Thailand Hotel Owners And Their Fanboys Spam thread. Oops, there is one: Giotto's Lodge. Why the hell are they incapable of confining themselves to it? (Stupid question. "FREE ADVERTISING".)TT,
Thanks for your advice, just address your problem to Jackson. Be strong!
In the meantime, for everybody who is looking for the Giotto's Lodge thread, here it is:
http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=754
The "Giotto's Lodge in Bangkok" thread contains a lot of chit-chat from people who came here to the Lodge - and who like to keep contact somehow.
There is another thread where I write my stories: "Giotto's stories". I try to contribute a bit to this forum. There are stories about my experiences building up a business here in Thailand. 39 stories up to now.
Finally the website of our hotel:
http://www.livingstones.co.th
But please - don't book it, there are so many other hotels in Bangkok! Contact Terry Terrier for advice!
Terry Terrier: Enough now, please contribute something useful to this forum, don't you think that would be a good idea?

Cheers - SWSSexWithSmile,
You report was hidden below a stack of useless posts...
One note reg. issue no. 12) No remotes for A/C
The 18 rooms in the main building have remotes for A/C. When we built the rooms in the new building we remembered that many remotes had already disappeared (only God know who need those remotes), and instead of remotes we fixed temperature controls at the wall.
If you urgently need a remote for the A/C - no problem, just move to a room in the main building :) ...

Without trying to be at all controversial ....
LL can be a great place to meet up with other ISGers, if they are your type.
I'm not sure which Hotels are best to avoid ISGers, but I have been trying a few when with GF. Recent ones I have preferred are Grand President, and S15.
Many others are too close to mongering areas, Internet too expensive, or inconveniently located. Sometimes I want to be relatively safe from bumping into the wrong BG at the wrong time.
Bangkok is too small. Could easily bump into the wrong person at MBK or Panthip Plaza.
Thats why I really feel safer mongering at Soapies and Oilies and if they are in another district like Ratchada or Rama 9 even safer.
Just back from 6 days in a village somewhere between Turkey and Iran with Wildcat and Wildkitten visiting family, and the only internet access was hours drive away, so I had to live a real life for a while. :( Good to be back and catching up on my ISG reading. :)
I have a trip coming up soon to Australia, and I was determined to have Singapore LAYovers because of the great times I had there with Indian and Sri Lankan girls recently, but what the heck, Terry reminded me of the good times at Livingstones Lodge, so I think it's time I made some trouble there again.
No thanks. Buddy lists are a little bit too gay for me (and I wouldn't trust you to keep me on it, anyway ;)). Btw, how are the "stallions" at the Lodge doing? Do you share a room with them, as well?

On a serious note, the website is loading quite quickly by Thai website standards now, compared to before. But the photos are still painfully slow to load. Have you considered hosting the site abroad? Those pages would load in two or three seconds on broadband from a European/North American server.
All comments appreciated, but this is the "Bangkok Hotels" thread. I think we should move all the further discussion of the issues to the related threads of Giotto's Forum.

After much reading from this forum, I finally decided to book "Majestic Grande Hotel" for my friend's "end of bachelorhood" party in Bangkok as this hotel seems to be girl-friendly and located close to the actions.
To make the trip more complete, could fellow brothers in this forum recommend me some soapies, oil massage, and "go-go" bars nearby the said hotel. We have 4D/3N to experience a great sex-adventure in Bangkok.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Your Hotel is right next to "Annies" and the Map shows lots of other things nearby.
