Firstly, to explain what I am looking for. I'm a somewhat older guy, as my moniker suggests, and I am not necessarily looking for super young babes. However, on Loi Kroh road (where most of the bars are located), there are at least two short time hotels. I do not remember the names, but they are there, well known, and fairly cheap; I recall about 500 THB per two or three hours.

Thanks.Honestly, I'd be surprised if any hotel in central Chiang Mai made an issue of it. Just make sure you've booked a room for two. I stayed in two places there. One high end, one more modest, and neither batted an eyelid.

I did further exploring on my own on Loi Kroh after my last post. It seems to be established for the shops on Loi Kroh that a 1 hour Hot Oil Massage is 300 B, and ending with HJ with the Masseuse naked is 1,000 total. (inquired at about 3 shops).

(I asked about FS at 1 and was told they don't do that).

Possibly they meant 300 B for Massage PLUS 1000 for naked HJ, but it never even occurred to me. It didn't sound like that.

But it was more serious than I first thought. At first I debated on going to the hospital at all to get it checked, thinking a little ice and I'll be good to go. But after a half hour eating dinner while holding ice on the swelling, the bleeding was not stopping. The ladies in the restaurant all urged me to go get it checked. Still debated, walked down Loi Kroh to chat with a friend from Nepal who has a singing bowl shop. He took one look at me and almost ordered me to go to the hospital (Chiang Mai Ram). The decision came when I realized the bleeding was not stopping or even slowing. And it is a bleeding head injury. So off to the hospital I went, and very glad of that. It was cleaned thoroughly, and needed 5 stitches to close the gash. They gave me antibiotic to prevent an infection. And, they gave me pain pills with codeine. And, I have to go to the hospital every day to have the wound cleaned and the bandage changed.

Having a large bandage on my forehead is not an attractive or sexy look (not that I am "sexy" at my age). I have talked to my "regulars" and shared the story. Stitches come out Monday, but I'll be looking for some erotic fun this weekend (New Year's weekend). I'll report anything interesting.

And the medical costs. I do have very good travel insurance, so this will all be covered. Chiang Mai Ram is an expensive private hospital in Chiang Mai, second only to Bangkok Hospital. And both are as good as or better than any hospital in the USA I like Ram better because I can walk to it in 20 minutes from where I stay in the old city. I could probably walk to Bangkok Hospital, but it is 5 kilometers and would take well more than an hour. Nevertheless, the total cost in the emergency room the first night was 4700 baht, or less than $150 US. Each of the wound cleaning and redressing visits is 450 baht or less than $14 US. In the USA, that emergency room visit might have been $4700 instead of 4700 baht.

There are many tourists in Chiang Mai for New Years, much are families from what I am seeing. The foot massage places all along Loi Kroh are busy. The full-service shops are not busy. This could be a very fun weekend. The Thai ladies are all telling me it was good to have the mishap before the New Year so I can start the new year leaving behind the bad events. Not sure I fully understand, but it is cultural thing, and I have heard essentially the same thing from different ladies, including the family who run the guest house in which I am staying. Cool. I'll report back after I check it out.It's been some years since I was in Chiang Mai, but try The Riverside Bar & Restaurant, and the one or two next to it. Decent food, live music, sometimes quite good (was owned by a somewhat famous Thai guitarist a long time ago), and mostly Thai people.

AFAIK all ATMs in Chiang Mai accept international cards and I don't think there is any significant difference between banks. Skimmers are not known to be a problem in CM but you may want to use ATMs attached to banks for extra safety.

The places I frequent in Chiang Mai do not use scented massage oil, or the scent is so subtle that I cannot smell. To start, let me thank Buksida for the hotel reservation. Outstanding. For me not having been in Chiang Mai in a long time, it was quite a different experience. Culturally it was fabulous. The sightseeing, visit to the Tiger and Elephant Preserves were excellent. Food was great. I probably had the best Peking Duck I've ever had in my life at a Michelin Restaurant for a grand total of $45 dollars with tip and drinks in Chiang Mai.

The sex scene is a different story. The best thing going is the beer bars in The Muai Thai Boxing Stadium. Plenty of fun and flirting but in all honesty in 3 days and 2 nights. Last year when I was in Chiang Mai I tried Fiwi Fans. The results were disappointing. The handlers wanted taxi fare in advance and the girls that showed up were heavily photoshopped from the website images.

Overall, I was not impressed with the place. For 100 Bht ($3) more, Sayuri was much better. For 300 Bht ($9) more, Pink X was a standout.

1800 baht ($54) for the "regular" women. These were the ones sitting on the right side of the fishbowl, behind the transparent glass; and.

2200 baht ($66) for the "model" women. These were the younger looking ones sitting on the left side of the fishbowl, without any transparent glass.

I checked Google reviews of Sayuri, and others also confirmed the same pricing. So my question is, why did they make you pay more? Is it the "farang tax"? I don't know if you're a "farang" or not, just taking a guess here. For reference, I am of Asian ethnicity (not Thai) from America, but I was able to speak a little bit of Thai to the guys running the place, so I can only presume they gave me the local pricing because of ethnicity.

I will have about a week and I can't go to places like Pattaya because questions will be asked (family).

I can probably have 48 hours in BK but after that would need to move on, again because questions would be asked.

Hence my need to find a secondary location for mongering. Somewhere that has a scene but doesn't have a bad rep for it.

I have come up with Hua Hin and Chiang Mai, HH is that bit easier to get to as you don't need to deal with airports.

I've watched as many videos as I can and read everything I can find and now need to bite the bullet and book stuff.

Looking at the videos it seems CM has many more beautiful women but that's because its a University town so there are lots of well off, educated young girls there. Even if some of these girls were up for paid fun I don't have the time nor inclination for this kind of endeavour.

I'm also not a fan of MPs and much prefer the girl to attend my hotel room so that means I'll be looking at beer bar / bar fine scene.

Consider Lamai Beach, Koh Samui. I know Samui very well and I know Hua Hin well enough. I know Chiang Mai just a little bit. Of those 3 places, Lamai Beach has the most options within a short walk of each other. You even get a nice beach as an added bonus (plausible deniability). The red light districts are at the boxing stadium, across the street, and about 200 meters to the south. Select your hotel accordingly and you won't need a car or motorcycle.

The best way to get to Samui is Bangkok Air plus taxi.

Phuket has good options, you should read that section of this forum. I do not recommend AoNang (Krabi) because the red light district is microscopic.

Just to make things clear; I know Thailand quite well, I've been about 10 times over about 25 years. Have been to many of the Islands and have travelled north as well. Every trip has been with family, so zero mongering was done.

I'm from Europe but will be in India on official business and from there will fly to Thailand to 'catch some sun and destress'. That's the official line anyway LOL.

Given that the area to which you are referring is, as is said here, "inside the moat," it is unlikely much is really taking place close to "Wat Mo Kham Tuang." In my 12 winters here in Chiang Mai, I have had only one erotic massage inside the moat (and that one surprisingly turned into FS), none others. Not even the occasional tale of picking up a street hooker.Chiang Mai isn't the hottest place in Thailand, it's perhaps #9 on the list of 11 Thailand places that I've visited. I've probably spent about 14 days in Chiang Mai and haven't found a true hot spot yet. Lots of bars and massage shops scattered about, especially on Loi Kroh, Kampangdin, and Sridonchai. I suspect that all of the massage shops on those roads offer HJ, but many do not offer FS. The portion of Kampangdin between Loi Kroi and Tha Phae seems to go unnoticed, but I've had some of my best success there. My best single session was at Pink X.

I've yet to find a decent agogo place, but I'm generally busy with non-punting activities during normal agogo hours. I've seen a total of one street walking hooker in Chiang Mai. Next thing you'll tell me that some far away earthquake in distant Myanmar would have affected Thailand somehow. I don't buy it.
