I spent the extended New Year’s Eve weekend in Hat Yai.
I’d like to thank those who contributed detailed reports on HY: I’ve passed through the town about a half-dozen times coming and going from/to Malaysia and hadn’t ventured far beyond the bus terminal area.
All prices in baht.
Based on some old info I dug up elsewhere on the net, I decided to stay at the King Hotel. It’s in the downtown area, a few blocks from the train station. I wasn’t that impressed with it, but it would do for one or two nights. The guy in the bellboy uniform would ask me if I wanted a lady whenever he saw me, even when I returned after being out for only five minutes. There was another room boy who also kept asking me, but I already had addresses I was looking forward to visiting. I made the mistake of telling him I was going to Cintana. He said he knew the place, and that he could get me a girl for the same price, etc. No charge if I decide not to take what he shows up with, but we know how that works, eh?
I jumped on a moto-taxi for 20b, and it was only about 1km away. I figured Mr Room Boy may have called up Cintana, told them he was sending a farang over and charge me enough to cover his cut, so I went to Atami, right across the street. It was about 8pm, and there were only two women. A younger one, cute enough, who the boss ***** told me was 900b, and then an older one, for 700b. ***** would not bargain, maybe she saw my little feller stand at attention when the older one showed up. Well, I hadn’t had a piece in a few weeks, new town, new venue, and the vitamin V kicking in, so I went for it. Ok session. A pair of tits that were a little too big for her tiny figure, and a little too proud to be natural, but I could find evidence at all that they were bespoke. Poor thing had a hemorrhoid the size of a barnacle. She was from Issan and spoke ok English, so I figured she may have been a Bangkok/Pattaya veteran.
I liked the neighborhood, so I walked around a bit and checked out the hotels in the area – I like the idea of being able to just go up the street when I want a piece off ass. I ended up getting a room at the Merridian (sic), right around the block from Cintana. 550b per night for a room that would cost AUS$200 in Perth. Big room, cable tv, good beds and linens (those of you who’ve stayed in dumpy places know what I’m getting at), bathtub, and an ample enough supply of hot water (from a central system) to make it worthwhile. The bed was huge, but I’m not too keen on bringing a girl into my room. I had just come in from Malaysia, and was headed north, but I decided to stay a few days, as it’s not often I find a place as nice in my budget range.
Info about Atami and Cintana is available in other posts, but there is another place a few doors down from Cintana, almost directly across from Atami called Paris. I ended up doing four more sessions while in HY: two at Cintana, two at Paris, each costing 500 or 600b. Only one dud, and she wasn’t all that bad. I’ve had enough lousy sessions in Thailand to get my hopes up too high, and this run of four decent ones out of five is reassuring. Three wouldn’t do uncovered BJ; one who insisted on the cover used enough teeth to make for a pleasurable experience.
As for the dud: she was long-legged, tall and fairly slim, and 38 years old, I found out, and an attractive face. When she started the "your dick is too big" bullshit as soon as I took pants off and wasn’t even up yet (an unimpressive sight to any female who isn’t a virgin) I knew I made a mistake. Oh well, too late now. When I asked her to smoke she said she could only do it a little because she had a problem in her throat. I took her for a Bangkok veteran – her best English was the excuses. Nonetheless she did it uncovered and wasn’t too bad. During the main event she moaned in fake pain the whole time, and she wasn’t all that tight. I knew it was a performance, and I was going to take my time, which I did. I recall discovering when I was a kid that if I tense my arm or leg a certain way I could make it vibrate, particularly the upper arm or upper leg. Well, I hadn’t thought about it for decades, until during the session when I pulled out for a breather and Miss Dud did this with her thigh, to show me she was quivering in pain. When I pressed her knee down to take the tension off the thigh it stopped, so she did it with the other one. She could see I wasn’t impressed so didn’t push it, and I just kept on doing what I came to do till I was done. Afterwards she asked if it was ok to smoke a cigarette to help her deal with the pain (I guess her sore throat had healed), and I told her to turn on the fan. Instead, she didn’t smoke at all, and actually apologized for the dud performance while we were getting dressed. She was the only one I did not tip. I usually gave 50b. One of the good ones was a sweetie who giggled seductively most of the time. One spoke no English but was quite enthusiastic when it came to the ol' in-and-out. The one who giggled was 21, all the rest were at least 28 yo. I prefer good attitude and enthusiasm (faked is ok, but I want an Ocsar-caliber performance) to looks – within reason, of course.
I liked the town, and didn’t pursue the hobby elsewhere. One of the things I liked is almost no one shouted out at me while I walked around, something that can get on my nerves quickly. There’re a few Top’s supermarkets around town, and covered markets in the downtown area where you can get just about anything. DVDs are 80b. I walked around a lot, and found an area with a lot or karaoke places a little to the southwest of where I was staying. I had the impression a lot of Malaysian people came to HY for weekends and holidays, and figured this was part of the eager room boys offering to procure women. Even when I was just looking at hotels the room boys were telling how if I stayed there they could get me girls etc. One of the hotels I checked out had Bollywood music blaring through the halls; I asked the room boy if there was a party, and it turned out it was just some guest with his door open and the music turned up. Shit!
But there are families and bus loads of Malaysians who come to town for shopping, which is evident in the shopping area downtown. I went to the downtown to area to check out the street party on New Year’s Eve. It was against my better judgment, as there have been explosions in HY itself. In fact, the night before there were bombings in Sungai Golok and Naratiwat. I went early, looked around, and it didn’t seem all that interesting, so I left the party area by eleven and just went walking through the neighborhoods. I ended up buying a few rockets (quarter-pound rockets cost 20b) and shot them off, and watched other people putting on their own displays. I have this saying that in Thailand the further you get away from the areas that get a lot of tourists the nicer the people are. Sometimes it means only going a few blocks over. This theory definitely holds in HY.
A few notes on HY:
The usual fare for a moto-taxi is 20b. Some bastards will try to get 30b off you, if so just walk on. If you want to take a longer ride it will cost more, like getting to/from Tesco on the east edge of town cost me 30b. Taxis (mini-songthaews) are 30b. The map they have at hotels may be a little off scale.
As elsewhere, knowing at least some of the language helps.
If coming from Malaysia and you have some ringgit to get rid of, the travel agent right next to the train station was giving 9. 99b to the ringgit, whereas the hotels were giving 9. 85 and banks were giving around 8.

Juz came back from our lovely heavan. Few rookie tips for you all.
1. Don't book hotel room tat few steps away from pubs/ disco. This may cause insomnia at night. Most of these places operating till 3-4 o'clock in the morning.
2. Don't trust any motor boys or OKT whole-heartedly for hunting puyings. Take your time wandering the town. Get into the Joints urself & 'mirror'ing.
V had been cheated by the OKT tat promised all in one package. (RM300 for 1gal + beer + sexy show + tiger show etc.) Juz ask the net price for the gal! Other stuff NO at all! The joints behind Oliver Hotel are more trustworthy.
My fren had been rejected entry because he's looking for a Massage + WL & the sincere OKT told him "Sorry V don't Hav! " with big smile.
3. Treat the puying nicely and she'll give back the same treatment/service to u. In between bonking, take her for some meals, k'oke, pubs, disco etc. Don't flirt with other gals in present of your puying because this will make her jealous. Then you need to spend some time pampering her for bonking.

Visited our fishing hole on the above dates. Pussy in abundance as it was mid-week. But prices quoted have increased.
New / Pretty Girls = RM250/- (morning / afternoon price)
Not New / Nice Puying = RM180/- (morning / afternoon price)
Evening price = RM150 to RM200 for the above.
11pm onwards price = RM130 in d fishing holes...but pretty puying all at Disco...expensive...RM250 to RM300.

A mid week trip to Danuk / Hatyai was easy and relax, with low population of Malaysian / Singaporeans. Had a bitter sweet experience there . Bitter in the sense , Danuk's night life was alright , but was conned off by a male waiter .

yes, it's a happening place and since it was a mid week thingy, so not crowded and puying averaging 2 to 1 customer. Before I could even take my first breath, when I entered ... was already swarmed by 4 young gorgeous girls ( dancers at Sha la la ) A general information, these girls are normally not for bookings unless.. u look like Brad Pitt and they luv your asian dick. I dun fall into that category so I went to enjoy the sexy dancing. I had my first large Heineken ...and then within 15 mins additional 4 bottles was sucked dry by these puying leeches who just gobbles down like gold fishes. Then came this young male attendant and chatted some Thais and before I knew it ... 4 tequilas was on my table .... ! Screw them.. who ordered , I asked ? I knew if I stayed longer .. I will be sucked dry by these bastards ! To avoid any confrontations, I paid and left , showing clearly my annoyance.
I will try to avoid these leeches again in New Sha la la. I’m awaiting the opening of previously Bangkok Bar , now under renovation .
Massage was standard , but based on my 2 cents views , the massage operators in Danuk are getting more snobby compared to my previous visit , like kinda " take it or leave it attitude " .

OK .. one more day to spare .. and wanted to leave Danuk as dun want to stay for another day more. Already pissed … so checked out Hatyai via the routined van transport. Prices gone up 10% from last time – 55 baht. Stopped at Lovely Tours and got myself a two hour massage @ 200 baht for two hours at the Grand View – Sayuri ( I think ?? )
Got a bit horny and decided to check out Pink Lady Hotel to kill the next 2 hours and that’s where the sweet surprise came about. Pink Lady is all about standardization and In my mind was what the heck .. just call a girl from the fish bowl and go upstairs for a soapy and a jab. Entered Pink Lady and was the only customer there with 6 girls in the fish tank and three at the side long table . These maybe the high flyers by definition , but one caught my eye from the fish tank. Oh .. goodness gracious … at a glimpse, I though I saw my ex gf… OK>>. Seeing double . maybe too much massage , little oxygen getting to the brains !

To oily men who has to move from dry hole Terengganu to Hat Yai pussyland with no time to waste.
From Terengganu, you have two option. Either 100% by road to Kota Bharu and then border town Rantau Panjang (Malaysia) / Sungei Golok (Thaipussyland). That is about 4 to 5 hours by cab and cost between MYR 400 - 500. From Thai border town by cab or van to Hat Yai. Travel time 3 – 4 hours, cost I don’t know. Too much wasted hours.
We opted for by air, from Terengganu to Kuantan airport by cab. Cost MYR 70 time 1 ½ hour. Flew to KLIA. Then from KLIA flew to Alor Setar, the northen most airport in Malaysia. Depending on your connection total flight time can be as little as 3 hours. The cost, who cares.
From the airport cab counter take a cab to border entry Bukit Kayu Hitam. Travel time 20 minutes, cost MYR 45. At the border taxi stop you’ll switch to Thai cabbie. All prices are fixed and plastered on a notice board. It is hard to get screwed unless you are a real dumb ass. They take ringgit or baht, so do not worry about changing currency. From border to Songkhla is MYR 90. You pay less for Hat Yai. Drive time about 1 hour 20 minutes. You need to pay MYR 2 at the Thailand’s immigration counter.
Between Songkhla and Hat Yai, better stick to Hat Yai. If you need to take chopper or boat from the jetty on the next day morning, then stay in Songkhla. Hat Yai to Songkhla is about 20 minutes but traffic can make you lose your ride.
Since you are in pussyland these places are abundant with WGs. In Hat Yai, keep away from the motorbikes, they’ll take you to places that quote exorbitant price. Use the tuk tuk instead. It is easy to get your appoint across. The English phrase “booking lady” is almost universally understood by all non-english speaking Thai.
WG booking from 8 am ON is Baht 3000, around noon is 2000/2500 depending on the shop. If you plan to monger on Friday better do it early. We went on Friday about 1130am and was surprised, almost all stock is gone. We checked out 5 shops. Malaysian mongers moved in by the van loads and whacked everything. It was a painful lesson and we really are envious of them for being so close to pussyland.
A decent hotel will set you back between 800 – 1000 baht. Before check in go to counters that sell bus ticket or money changer. Buy a hotel voucher and you’ll get better rates compared to walk in. Is it safe? I’m Caucasian traveling with a Malaysian crew. As a Malaysian buddy of mine correctly put, you put yourself more at risk by pumping the WG compared to the travel.

Ok guys just come back today n wanted to share my experience with u all. Arrive bukit kayu hitam duty free shop and check with the taxi driver the price to bring us to hatyai n danok, the standard price for a trip to hatyai usually will cost about Rm70 but we manage to find a taxi that will bring us there for Rm50.
Day 1
1st we check in to Oliver hotel in danok ( Room price 690 baht ) and then we went to hatyai for soapy.
Place : Pink Lady
Arrive pink lady about 4pm and still not much girls in the fish tank ( only 4-5 girls ) so we waited for another 30 more minutes and there comes a girl that caught my attention

After having such a wonderful time in pink lady we return back to Danok hoping to find a nice mate for the night and we started our puying hunting around 10pm. This is when we were approach by this OKT ( his shop is located back of Oliver Hotel, and if u stand infront of Bar berry his shop will be at your right hand and paragon will be at your left hand ).
This OKT come to us and show us his stock and the tactic he used is by telling us we DON’T have to pay for the girls 1st, we can take the girls up to our room and if the service is good we pay the girl the next morning and if the service is not good we can return the girls with No Charge and he say the girls service is very good and can do what we want. His charges for the girl is Rm200 and we negotiate the price to Rm180 per night, so off we go to try out the stock ( total 3 girls ).
The service we receive from the girls is Very Bad ( 1/10 ) and then we thought wtf that OKT lied to us about the girls where before we take he said the girls this good that good. So we called the OKT and tell him wtf your girls service so bad and we dun wan to take overnight and then he say if we don’t want to take overnight we have to pay the girls then again wtf this is not what we agreed before, we agreed “good service = pay, bad service = no need pay”. Then during this time we know ccb we got conned by this F**ker, what to do cant fight with him cause this is his place and no choice we pay his girls Rm100 each and tell the girls to F**k off.
Note : Guys please stay away from this shop and don’t trust any sweet talk from those OKT saying stuff that does not make sense.
Still feeling tu lan tu lan ( angry ) went to Model to have some drink and no mood to find another girl for the night due to the cb OKT. We entered Model and the place is not fully pack with cheong ka cause its Monday night and the girls ratio 2 to 1 customer. The girls are playful and the only thing I don’t like is those waiter pushing you to buy chewing gum and the chewing gum cost Rm5 per pack.
Day 2
Check into KPK hotel ( Room price 900 baht ) I know some will ask why KPK hotel, its far from all the action and stuff. The reason we choose KPK hotel is because the room is nicer and we can have Wi-Fi internet in our room. The hotel will give u a coupon for free 2 beer ( each room ) to be spent in their karaoke room.
So after check in we went for massage at 3rd floor, the massage is good and it only cost Rm24 + Rm10 tip, will definitely go to KPK massage the next time I’m in danok. There is one good thing about KPK is that they have a free Van service that can bring you to danok town and back to hotel for Free.
At night we went to Spider and was greeted by topless girls dancing on stage and this makes our blood boiled fast, once we seated about 7-8 girls rush to our table and ask us to buy them some drink. These girls are persistent they will try to shake hands with you and if you don’t want just say no. One of the girl will not take no for an answer, told her I don’t want to buy her a drink but she just won’t go and ask me to give her a tip of Rm2. I told her if she can make me happy then I will give her a tip but no drink, then she started licking my neck and slowly up to my ear and the feeling was sensation and paid her Rm2. Try to go when the girls are more than the customers this way the girls will tend to make you happy so that u will buy them drinks / flowers.
Around 10pm take the van back to KPK and went to the hotel basement for Karaoke session and exchange the coupon for 6 bottle of beer and here come the mamasan with the china girls, guys don’t let the girls sit with you before you choose cause if you don’t pick her the mamasan will ask you to give Rm10 to the girls as goodwill tip.
Karaoke room : Rm50 for 2 hours
Girls : Rm30 per hours sitting and singing with you
Beers : Didn’t order extra cause already drink at spider

After 2 years I plan to visit Hdy again. From what I can digest from postings of past 6 months, its better for me to be in danuk. I want to be in Hdy for its massage and food, with nice hum in the evening or morning, :D

I always wanted to stop and check out the action. On my next trip (Probably in August) I will spend a day or two there.

Yai means "big" and Haat is apparently short for Ma-haat being a "tree" of some sort.

For USD 1000 to spend within 5 days in Hat Yai, I can safely say you have a good start. That is roughly 33, 000 baht. My recommendations are biased so take it at own risk and I’m not sure if they are effective if you are a lone monger.
Hotel – Mayflower or New Season. They are walking distance to each other. Nice tubs. It is a nice monger’s hotel. No tourist bus with loads of family type vacationers stop here. Ball park 1000 baht per night. Voucher will get you less than walk in.
If you like hand guns, there is a shooting range with guns included. I’ve yet to try but it is on my agenda for next visit.
Try the hair salon pedicure manicure treatment across Mayflower. For 1100 baht you get all your holes cleaned minus dickcure and asscure. The ear wax job is fucking orgasmic. Ass grabbing require frequent visit before possible. If you try let me know if you get your ass kicked. I’ve been hitting on the skinny girl with no luck.

Food - RM100 for lunch, RM100 for dinner
Total expenses = RM900 / 9 = RM100 per person (excluding hotel, girls & transportation).
Hotel is RM55 per night.

3 cars were departure from Penang, so it is about RM40 per person for transportation.

Dannok has taken away a lot of the mongering trade from Hatyai, which mostly gets couples and family-type visitors now. There are still gems to be found, but it takes more looking.Yeah abit dissapointing, unlike old time, anyway, I think Hatyai is still a good place to cheong if you prefer a more relax way, ie less people, better hotel, better food, some shoppings to do, at least some places to go while waiting for night life.

...hatyai is still a good place to cheong if u prefer a more relax way, ie less ppl, better hotel, better food, some shoppings to do, at least some places to go while waiting for night life...Yeah, I enjoy the sleazy atmosphere in Dannok but get bored in a day or two. But Hatyai has kept my interest since. Well, about 1979.
As far as places to find the gems, I'm lazy and I'm in town only a couple days per month, so usually I just go around to places like Chao Phraya IV. There's a lot of turnover and some real quality once in a while, but the best ones don't spend more than a week or two there before they find themselves a sponsor. So it's always worth a look in, especially on the righthand side.

23rd July 2008
Meet up with Taiko bro Kiko and we had breakfast at Kayu restaurant in Taipan Subang Jaya. I was not feeling well and had a few panadol before going out to see bro kiko and he is tired too as he didn’t sleep well enough the night before.

Had breakfast with taikos and start to move from Danok to Hatyai (what Pak Gor – Ah Chan Thong) of which is famous for it business relation. We spent our whole afternoon in Hatyai, Praying at the temple and did flower bath there for good fortune, it is actually my first time taking the flower bath despite that I have been there a few times already while waiting for my buddies to finish their ritual before we go hunting. After that went to have lunch at fish farm which they rear the fishes at the junction where the fresh water meets with the salt water from the sea of which the plankton is very rich and abundant, the food taste good maybe we are hungry already and reasonable too
After the lunch, we headed back to Hatyai town where the taikos went shopping and myself and taikos the _saint, we went to massage at Central Massage at Central Hotel. Half way, the taikos got to go back already and two of us stay back.
After massage, we went to do some shopping at Central at Lee Garden and had Swenson’s ice-cream and some puying join us as they are taiko the _saint’s collection. After that we proceed to get new fresh puying at Garden Home.

RM3k is a little bit overprice. I have a friend who will stay at least 2 nights in Danok per week has also "buy" a SYT for about RM2500. Normally he will pay about RM500 at the beginning of the week, & some bonus at the end of the month. This strategy is to make the girl feels that she is getting paid & her performance is reviewed per week, not on monthly basis. This is to somehow keep her under control. Sometimes he turned up 2 to 3 days late & the girl is anxious & worried about it.
In my personal opinion, I think if we visit Danok often enough, then it is making sense to own a private lady. If not, it does not serve the value. SYT nowadays is so easy to be obtained in Danok at RM250 per night. There is plenty of massage ladies who will go out with customer in Sathy, who is not really good on bed but easily wet wet after some simple foreplay. When you get boring, then you can get some professional young hookers who will serve you really well.

I am tempted to write a long FR but most of the situation in Hdy now is well documented, so I better focus on puying finding, prices, massages and night life in this short report.
I arrived on 13th at around 1pm Thailand time. Went to Lovely Tour for the hotel and massage vouchers, and also change some money. The currency rate is not so good for us Malaysians now at about 100RM against 1005B. Still. I got 2 nights voucher for Hatyai Garden Home at 610B for room in the new wing. I have never stayed there before but I though I wanted to be near See Kim Young so what the heck. Turned out it was a good decision as the room is quite good, and the cleanliness of the toilet is satisfactory. Overall the hotel is pretty good and I give it 7/10 for location and value.
Another plus is that the infamous Kiss Lounge is on the 1st floor of Garden Home, so you would not have to go far to find good company. And did I say that SKY is just 1 min walk away? :D . For those un-initiated, Kiss Lounge is a karaoke with girls for booking. It opens at 7pm each day and closes at 1am. You can stay there and have fun but you can also book the girl there and then, but you need to pay the additional bar fine of about 1000B, on top of the booking fee of between 1500 to 2500, if you book her at 7pm. That said, the later in the night you book her the less barfine you'd need to pay to Kiss Lounge.
You can also buy sexy show voucher at Lovely Tour, which is available in Garden Home. 250B for the show plus dinner, so its a good way to start your night if it is too early to go clubbing or what-have-you.
I wanted to get massage till i drop in this trip, so after a simple lunch I adjourned directly to Regency Hotel's massage parlour. Unlike 2 years back the fish tank's glass is now "ridged" to hide the girls sitting in the tank. I think this is the new regulation in place for Thailand MP now, as I noted also later at Sakura Grandview's Sayuri MP.
Anyhow, I just ordered an ancient massage and went to the massage room. After 5 minutes, in walk this cute, petite masseur of about 20, and oh is she cute! Under that loose uniform she seemed to have a small frame with that usual skinny shape that many Thai puyings have. How wrong could I be, and more on that later.
Her name is Kip, and I persuade her to join me for dinner after booking her for the night, paying extra 300B to the MP. After dinner she changed into her clubbing "uniform" and we went to Sotus Pub, situated beside Paragon Disco, with her MP colleague cum roommate. Once we arrived at Hansa Plaza (where Paragon and Sotus is located), we got a bottle of Regency whisky at 460B from a liquor shop right outside the plaza (you cannot miss it as so many people go there), and open it at Sotus where the establishment charged us 350B. In my opinion that is a good deal, and many patrons to this Sotus club seemed to do so too.
A caveat is that while the pub is happening and the bands are very good and sexy, they sing mainly in Thai. Still, for the young at heart this is a cool place - it is huge enough, play hip-hop & punk rock, and the drink is cheap. Oh yeah..puying and puchai mak mak also :D. So these are the incentives to give this place a visit. The background of patrons is also more diversed, where you see lesbians, gays, and so on amongst the patrons. For some reason, the locals pronounce Sotus as "Sue-Tard. So say "Sue-Tard" to the tuk-tuk driver instead of "Sor-Tus" which should be the case.
The bands also as good if not more than those of Kiss Chanel, if you take away the fact that they sing in Thai. The hip-hop girls are delicious, and the cute boy bands themselves worth the girls time to be there. I can see that this is the main reason why it is so happening now, as the whole singing troupe is indeed hot, especially the boys.
Sotus Pub starts rocking from 10pm till 2am. I suggest you go after 11pm.
My opinion on Sotus: 8.5/10 for its coolness, cheap drink, very good bands and happenings. Oh yeah...a good grasp of Thai does not hurt your chance of landing a few girls..or boys. Or Lez... :D
Oh yeah about Kip..damn did she kill in that clubbing uniform..nice ass and boobs, and all puchais around our table cannot stop eyeing her ass and body all night. Almost made me cry. :D. Anyhow, I took a sumptuous breakfast of pork legs, noodle, duck, coffee and beer at a laughable price of 150B, and went by local bus to Songkhla beach. It is worth going for it's sun and sea, but no more. The many seafood restaurants along the beach seem to offer fresh, cheap seafood. IMHO, unless you have a group of 4 or more, you will not enjoy the seafood there as you cannot order much dishes.
I strolled for an hour aimlessly and headed back to Hatyai for a nice oil massage at Sakura GV Hotel's Sayuri MP. As mentioned, the fish tank also has ridged glass. I guess it is a good policy as I tend to think that the old tank with transparent glass is a bit "demeaning" to the masseurs. Just a conservative opinion. LOL. Anyway, the 2-hour, 640B massage is worth every bath, and I recommend everyone to get it at least once. And the best part for me is that you get to be totally naked when being massaged. Cool.
You can get the massage voucher, hotel voucher and tour voucher at a good rate at Lovely Tour, Niphat Uthit Road 3 (right opposite O.H. Hotel). Tel: (074) 232738, 235951. There are a few other tour agencies which I fancy such as Davis Tour right around the other corner of Lovely. However, the girls at Lovely are usually more lovely and playful, and they are multilingual. Check out the short hair, buck-tooth, boyish girl; she is a Bi, if you know what I mean. :D
If you need internet access there is a small cafe on 1st floor of O.H. Hotel, right across Lovely Tour, at 20B an hour. There is also an internet cafe on 3rd floor of Lea Garden Mall, but its bit more expensive at 30B an hour.

Generally, the quality of puyings at most karaokes I went were good. And here I would like to offer a piece of my mind. for hatyai to adapt, some industries will have to shrink slightly or evolve, such as the retailers and tour operators. but i find that the tour operators are more cooperative now, which is great news for us!
On this final full day I decided to do some shopping at city centre. Went for a nice, cool foot massage near Lea Garden, and took pictures of the quiet streets and Lea Garden Mall. Hmmmm. Shop for some stuffs, and went back to hotel.

I just got back from Hatyai. I had a really nice time pussy mongering and flirting with bar girls. In Hatyai you will see more asian tourists than farangs, but farangs are not uncommon in Hatyai. If you are looking for overnighters, they can be gotten for 1500 to 2000 bhat in so called Karaokes which are actually brothels. Plenty of these around but they are hidden away in the city. The more apparent Karaokes like Volvo, Chamois or Kiss Channel are more pricey, between 2500 to 4000 for overnighters.

I would to send my gratitude to Kaki for his contribution which help me enjoy myself last Saturday and Sunday. I don't think the Hatyai market will inflate if you paid 1500 to 2000 bhat for ST and 2500 to 3000 for LT, providing that the puying you had can be rated 8 and above in terms of looks and service. For that much money no one in Hatyai should settle for less.
Since you were in Kiss Music Lounge, which is in Hatyai Garden Home hotel I believe, you are literally door steps away from the karaokes that provide puyings for 1500 to 2000 bhat (6 to 8's in my looks scale) for long time and just a few blocks away from ST places where you can get decent service for 700 bhat (900 bhat for a pretty looking thing). It is a matter of knowing where to go. I will admit I too stand guilty for not being a good bargainer. However over the couple of trips that I have made to Hatyai, I walked and walked, literally the whole city to discover its gems, that is the places to go, where I simply don't need to bargain because the prices are 'too' reasonable.
I am however, concerned over price inflation for puying. This can be experienced in Danok which is mainly frequented by us horny Malaysians and Singaporeans. In Danok a girl who is only a 6 can command 2500 bhat for long time. I actually stopped going to Danok because of the prices, that's when I found Hatyai Heaven and the amazing Batam Beavers down south.
So in the interest of providing detailed information for all you brother mongers out there, from whom I have learned much and taking after the tradition of That Asshole's great field reports (where are you bro?) I will posting my field reports on Hatyai and Batam complete with map details.

Three of us, all decent Malaysian Indians, (have to emphasize decent,as we saw some undesirable events over there) checked into Queens Park Hotel, 6/99 Kanchanawanich Rd., Soi Thai-Changlon 6 (Dannok). Tel:074-301277, 301278,301281. Room rate was RM75 with long bath and big room, got also RM55, smaller room, no long bath. Have fish bowl at the reception. When you leave immigration towards Dannuk it is on the right hand side, the second lane turn in before Oscar Hotel and turn first left. Had a soapy session from one of the girls from Queens Park, just so so session.Damage of RM150, but not enjoyable, always looking at the watch, may be it is late, they finish work at 8:00pm. Got pissed off first round.
Then walked around and choose a puying from one very highly recommended JJ Karoake, Mr Yeo. A friend introduced this man, a Malaysian. Puying name is Ah Nam from Issan (RM150) a bit higher side especially at night, but paid as the puying was guaranteed by Mr Yeo of JJ Karoake. Of course the puying was attractive to me.Was told 20 years and had a daughter back home.She was supposed to leave for home on 27 Sep 08. Back to htl had a few rounds of duty free Chivas and chit chat, puying also enjoyed Chivas. Gave puying ear rings from KL and asked her wear the cutex on her fingernails and toenails, after the cutex session, her fingers and toes were very beautiful, can suck hah.Saw her fantastic body in the bathroom, as though made to order, good shape, small size and fair skin. Then bathed together and had a session in the long bath, she had special styles for this, really enjoyed, but held on blowing up, with difficulty.Out of bathtub had a few pack of Chivas and romanced about 40mins before actual play. Went afternoon, choose the one he offered by the name of Marly#405, supposed to like Indians and good service, money back guarantee. But still need to pay RM180. OK deal done. She followed us to dinner but did not want to eat or drink anything. I realised she was stuck up, but then it is friends property, I cannot do anything. Then to Spider and Modal. Then to Dragon, she asked my friend for the room key and went up. My friend also followed after his beer. Then about half an hour in the room, my friend sent her off. It seems she just lied on the bed asking him to screw, when he romanced she refused. My friend got fedup and sent her off. Never got to do anything. Of course he have being observing her for some time.Phoned the mamasan could not reach. So the second day was nearly a write off, luckily he too got one from JJ Karoake for the second night and enjoyed maximum. My puying Ni arranged for this one.
When back the next morning the mamasan was not there.Need to go back and get the money returned

Any news on this Minnal Karoake or recommendation for good puyings with good service, beauty or young not a criteria. I went to Minnal at about 2:30pm, nothing much except some fat puyings dressed with some Indian cosmetics, that's all. Saw a young M'sian Indian boy with one puying, this young boy may be hooked up with the puying as we saw them very intimade the next day in several places.

I feel Minnal puying are problematic. They seem to already have BF's who are working in Danuk (Indians). As such you may book them in the morning but they would probably run away by the night to their BF's.
They would also compel you to go to Minnal and once you are there if you want to leave they will be very unhappy and the service goes out the window...and chances are...they will run away...
So pick a puying anywhere else, then enjoy the Tamil/Hindi music at Minnal, they have excellent music and good service, and drinks are cheap. Stay away from the Minnal PuYing is my recomendation.

The difference will be 30 minutes for st in singapore against 1 hour in hat yai in the best case
Personaly if I had to choice between hat yai and singapore in term of girls beauty, (talking about same price) I take singapore without hesitation, more choice, Chinese, indonesian, filipina, thai, viet. You can t compare with hat yai. Also beauty is subjective, for you, if you re a malay you can rank a girl 6 to 8 but as boleh I can ranked her 3or4 no more.
Hat yai has girls at all prices. Tourist paid 700, or 1000 or 2000 baths for st when local brothels charged 200, 300 baths (without bargaining).
Which is reasonable price compare with the cost of life and wage receipted in Thailand So don t forget that in hat yai short time started not from 700 baths but from 200 baths depend where you go and what you expected.

Scene in Hty almost the same, but most younger girls have moved on to Danuk.
Hotel:
I suggest you choose other newer hotel. Grand Plaza is old and infested with mosquito, not to mention the smelly room.
Go for New Season or Mayflower, both just 100m from Lea Garden. Sakura GV is also good but its half a km from Lea Garden.
Rates for these hotels are between 750 to 950, depending on types and season. Of course I am quoting based on offers from tour agency. During Olympic I went and stayed in Garden Home - pretty decent hotel, make sure you ask for new wing. 650 was the room rate.
Girls:
I keep hearing that girls at the Kiss Lounge are very good. If you want them then stay in Garden Home, cause Kiss Lounge is on the 1st floor on this hotel. Damage is probably 2000-2500, and another 1000 for barfine. Kiss lounge opens at 7pm.

To go Songkhla, if you are alone like me, go to the Hatyai bus hub near the clock tower, and take the green bus. There is bus every 45 min or so. Whole journey is less than 40 mins. If there are 2 of you or more, take the van, or book a taxi. Tour agency certainly can help.

Dont think you can get 500bath for LT now. ST maybe. Going rate is 1500-2500 now. Haggle hard with the mama-papasan. If they quote you 2500, tell them 2000 or turn away.
For safety better stay away from Lea Garden Hotel. Few bombs went off in that area. But small home made ones. Dont worry. :D
I suggest Mayflower or Sakura Grand View, or those hotels at See Kim Young, east of Hatyai city centre.

I just got back from another short trip to Hatyai. Kaki, there is a Lee Garden Hotel and a Lee Garden Plaza Hotel in Hatyai. Lee Garden is a medium class hotel with two room rates - 500 bhat and 700 bhat, it is about a five minute walk to Hatyai City Center. Lee Garden Plaza Hotel is probably the most upmarket hotel in Hatyai (this is the one next to The Plaza Hotel), with published rates at 1149 and 2290 bhat.
I went to Kiss Music Lounge this time. I have mixed feelings about this place. I enjoyed flirting around with the pretty bar tender ( a uni student named Ann) but she was not available for p4p. I had a disappointing time with the puying I booked though. She was pretty no doubt a 7. She was friendly until it came time for action. After that it was no kiss tits, in fact it was no kiss at all - anywhere. Booked her overnite, had one session, slept. In the morning she woke up had a shower and promptly left (only good thing was she didn't ask for tips). No second session :(= My entire damage at Kiss Music Lounge was 4330 bhat. That is 1830 bhat for drinks for me and others I spent at the bar and 2500 for booking the puying overnite after midnite.
The rates at Kiss Music Lounge go by when you book the girls. I only know the LT rates. Between 8pm and midnite, its 3400 bhat. Past Midnite its 2800 bhat. I guess you can expect the the ST rates to be at least half this amount. I booked my puying after midnite, but I got her for 2500 instead of 2800 - without asking for a discount, I might add. This may have something to do with the 1800 bhat I spent buying the bartenders and GROs drinks.
Though it was quite a lot of money down the drain as far as the puying was concerned, I wouldn't discount giving Kiss Music Lounge another try, but perhaps when I am richer. For now I will stick with the girls from the budget brothels (I consider Kiss Music Lounge and the like upmarket brothels). The budget brothels standard rates are between 1500 and 2000 bhat absolute max for LT action. This is if you go without a tuk-tuk or motor taxi guide. Expect to pay between 500 to 700 bhat extra in commission if you go with a guide.

The puyings from the budget Karaokes can come out with you as early as 10 am - that's when these Karaokes open. They tend to leave early morning before 9.00 am, I guess to get ready for the next days business opp. Their business hours are 10 am and around 7pm. After that most of them close. If you go puying mongering after 7 pm your best bet for action the Upmarket Karaokes or the BMD (Buy-me-drink bars), both of which are more expensive then the budget Karaokes.
You are right that many of the puyings are taken up quickly on the weekends. Many are booked ahead by phone by their 'darlings' across the border. I generally avoid going on the weekends. But if you start your hunt early on Saturday morning, your chances of finding a puying to your liking is high. These karaokes probably open earlier that 10 am on weekends.
I am attaching a Hatyai map with pointers of where the budget Karaokes are located. There are probably more of them around but I have yet to fully explore Hatyai City. Must go again!
It you are going to to the Andrew Karaoke or the karaokes around it your land marks will be between Hatyai Garden Home Hotel or The Merlin Hotel. If you want to get to Channivet 2 road without a tuk-tuk guide, then get to Meridian Hotel. Follow the map directions, it is less than 10 minutes walk to brothel row from this hotel.

Attached is a map detail of where to find these places. Your landmark for Andrew Karaoke or the other karaokes around the area is Hatyai Garden Home Hotel. There are about 5 budget brothels right across the road from Andrew Karaoke (these are on the same block as Visa Hotel), that is if you don't find a puying at Andrew.
Channivet 2 road is on the same street with SK Stardust Hotel, though if you are going by tuk-tuk, I recommend you get down at Meridian Hotel and walk from there to Channivet 2. SK Hotel or SK Stardust Hotel is a run down dump. Even a budget monger like me wouldn't want to stay there. across from of Lee Garden Plaza is Novotel and not far away from there is Panaroma Regency, this area makes up Hatyai Cite Center.
Channivet 2 is around 15 to 20 minutes walk away from Lee Garden Plaza Hotel. To avoid the tuk-tuk commission get down at Meridian Hotel. From here Channivet 2 is less than 10 minutes slow walk. Refer to the map in my post for the directions. Tell the tuk-tuk fellow you are in Hatyai for business or some story. Even if he says he can get you the best girls, those who can speak english this and that, don't believe him. All he will do is take you to the same places you are planning to go. Nothing value added.

In the brothels DO NOT pay more than 2000 bhat. 1500 to 2000 bhat is the standard rate. Anything more and its a rip-off. Tip for the puying depending on her service 100 - 500 bhat. Now I can't tell you which brothel has the best girls, I haven't been to all of them, plus I don't remember all their names. Some are just 3 digit numbers. You'll just have to go 'shopping'.
Having said that, Andrew Karaoke, has a hot chick reputation, but if you are going on a weekend they may be empty because most of their puyings are booked ahead by their darlings in Malaysia.

As far as how many times you can bang your LT (long time booking) puying. It's UNLIMITED. The last time I booked a puying, that was last month, I had her come to my room at 6 pm. We got down and yummy 3 times. Once before dinner, then after dinner and a movie, then the good morning bang before she left at 8 am.
Yes LT booking is about (but not exactly) 24 hrs if you book early. It doesn't matter what time you book, but they will generally leave before 9 am the next day.
My general rule of thumb when booking puyings. I go for looks for ST action. If I am looking for LT action, I look for friendly demeanor (usually a smile on the face during the line up) with looks no. 2 priority. Of course if both comes together its great. Most of the time though the really pretty one's can be really stuck up because they get lots of action and might have a sugar daddy so they are not as interested in your bhat.

Would appreciate some help & info....You can take a airport taxi from Alor Setar airport to Bukit Kayu Hitam check point, then walk across the border (about 300 meter) after stamping your passport and stamp again at Thailand side. Then walk about 50 to 100 meter you can get a seat in local Thai van to Hatyai below RM10.00 (Baht100) per person or even local bus to Hatyai (if you want cheaper cost). If you want to try to catch a bus from Alor Setar then you have to go to Alor Setar bus terminal to catch a bus to Bukit Kayu Hitam, it will take alot of your time and very tiring.

Mutiara is top of my cheong list nowadays, the place getting more and more busy also, theres plenty of pretty chicks available, u just have to slowly choose, inside and outside, sure have girl meeting ur requirement. :)

To be fair, the scene in Hatyai/Dannok just isn't set up for farang. It's not really unfriendly, just unfamiliar. If you're not local, the best idea is to go with someone who knows their way around, at least the first time.

I am surprise that you managed to source a lady at 11am. Normally these girls wake up at lunch time, & will only show up at the office at 2pm. Cheers.Firatel is a nice place for good dinner & music to relax. Actually the food is tastier than The Good View but the price is 10% more. The room is clean but one weak point is the bed is too soft and non-springy, not that good for sex.
Can't noticed now the global economic slow down because many factories shut down from 25 Dec to 5 Jan 2009, and Chinese news years is coming soon. Cheongters spend holidays there since factories shut down and house hold families go Hat Yai shopping and probably drop by Danok.
The effect will be noticed after CNY. Mid Feb onwards.

Stayed in New Seasons Hotel. Nice place to stay, convenient location.
Tuk-fare to and from Chanivet and SKY 30 baht / person.
Kiss Lounge in hotel Garden Home in SKY was closed on Monday due to staff party.
Most of the KTV’s seemed closed at 21.00? Oppsite hotel Merlin there was a massage parlour.
App 20 girls in the bowl – price asked 1500 baht. Did not try, as the girls also here had a party.
Had a tuk to Chanivet. Dropped off outside hotel SK stardust. Walked around for some minutes. Most places seemed closed, but finally found a KTV wit a outside bar which was open.

the hotel was not very good in my opinion. no bathtub, weak pressure on hot water, almost all kind of noise from outside and inside the hotel to be heard in the room. please notice that the hotel is located next to the discos bar berry and paragon, and the noise from these places are very disturbing if you have a room facing the discos. the cost for std room was 890 bath incl breakfast.
walked a round at noon. very few places seemed open early.
new walk around at 8 o’clock pm. full speed all over. noisy as hell many places.

The rate for Oliver should be 790 baht. You can ask them to give you the room not facing Paragon/Bar Berry. Her Jia, KPK and Satit Grand View(1200 baht) are the other quiet and nice hotels.

From past experiences I observe that even when we drive our car into Betong, we probably park it in the Hotel parking n forget it until we r leaving...swhy dont u just grab a tuk-tuk from the immigration n go into Betong dude? The parking area is quite safe, I see large luxury cars always parked there overnight. This is the parking just before the immigration.
Anyway u must bring ur original Car Registration Card (it must be in ur name...or u need an authorisation letter from owner). The forms are available at the Immigration. N u can buy insurance there as well.

I guess Member 2305 is now mending his forgotten roots relation in Danuk as i write while I'm busy planning for the next trip to Betong in March 2009.
Sent two nights at Danuk along with Member 2305 and it was indeed interesting , with mixture of misfortune along the way. I arrived first and made my first move in Mutiara SPA. Since my last trip there about a year ago, I have noticed business have boomed for the owner, more guests and more PUYINGS ! Mostly I see weekend customers from the border towns in M'sia. I chatted with a few "ABangs " from Alor Setar who's modus operandi is a quickie and back to the border before it closes midnight !
Stayed at one hotel same row with Satit ( forgot the name ) for RM 55 and that was mistake no 1 . the walls starts to vibrate at 10 pm . Managed to get a NL looking girl ( can speak Malay , a bit lah ) for RM 150 , whole night but kicked her out after one round after she said , she wants to go back for one hour to meet friends in the middle of the night ! She pleaded to stay and promised to be back in an hour but I kinda lost interest on her already. So , tata .. to her !
Next day, had a good call out massage from a young girl from Satit massage and available whole day for RM 300 . Thought it was a bit pricey ! So screw the idea since I 'll be meeting Member 2305 in the evening.
Member 2305 is a happening person ! hahha .. so this is going to be the first of our many more cheonging together ! So , Betong is definitely ON ! and do not "fong fei kei" the last minute OK . Ice .. if you are interested , pls pm me . !

OK, well I ended up not mongering at all but meeting with my "girlfriend". I checked out the farm across from the merlin hotel on Thursday but when I got there it was closed. Alot of the KTV and such where closed up. I was told the girls where on break before all hell breaks loose this week. The only shops I found open (there where about 1 in 10 open at the main areas) was a small area near the petrol station on Nap. 1. (the road just past Robinsons that heads south) Near Sakura old. This place is mostly made up of old hands, the prices where ok, 1,300-2,000 Baht. There was NO good looking girls there at all. But for a cheap screw Thats where I would put my money. The town was dead, no action going on anywhere. I only located 1 freelance girl working Post on a Friday night. Hotel prices did not go up yet so that was a relief. I stayed one night at the King's Hotel and one night at the regency. the regency was nice looking and the staff was friendly but the TV choices sucked!
I want to plan a trip during Songkran. I want to have a huge blow out up there. Maybe 20 of us guys taking over a part of the road during the day and soaking people then taking over a bar at night. just tearing it up for 2 days. If this sounds fun to anyone PM me and we can iron out the details. I hope we can have enough people along so we can rent out our own bus.

That is the promised land. You have to pray for that your whole life! So that when you die you can make it there! lol. Or you can actually move up to Hat Yai and start your own Chicken farm, stock it up with girls fresh from the farm and invite their dadies to come along to the girls interview! but that sounds like alot of hard work, yah you do not want to do that!

Btw, gong hei fatt choi.Danok overbooked as well as hadyai. Imagine Rado Hotel for 750 baht a night. Surcharge for hotel rooms lifted today. Still way overcrowded I would say. Nothing but the leftover at the moment.
Calling out bros out there who frequent Betong ! Haven't been there for abt a year and will be making a trip there next month with some ISG fellow bros. This place hasn't attracted any report lately and rather quiet . Appreciate if any bros can give an update on the cheonging and where to find the water holes ? Is Nice resort, Joker bar still around and have stocks ?

and rushed through the checkpoint before closure just to waste not more time and drove home.
I won't return any time soon,
driving there takes you 4-5 hrs,
in the same time you're in BKK or Pattaya.
Hope you all have a better time there than me.

I was there one weekend, went through many joints, found exactly one bookable (their expression for barfine) girl and had to call it a night because they wanted payment upfront.

Greeting everyone! I have just returned from Hatyai via Alor Star ( wrong choice if you are travelling alone!) and wish to update some of my obervations I have experienced!
The cost of street food is Hatyai has gone up much higher now. A normal bowl of noodles plus coffee can easily cost 90 to 120 bahts! Even roti canai sold by the Muslim vendors @ the odean is 35 bahts.
I stayed at Novotel on my 1st day of arrival. Thinking I got a great deal @ 1,500 baht per night....I am really surprised when I did a random checking all over the Travel agencies. I can get my second voucher from as low as 1,270 baht on the second day but decided to switch to Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel @ 1,050 baht which includes ABF for two on the second day.
I went shopping for some shirts when I wanted a fresh change of clothing since I normally travel very light! Noted the prices of shirts in their shopping malls are much more expensive than our shopping malls! Perhaps we have more discounts and sales promotions than Hatyai....
Every thing seems runned down. The famous Pink Lady looks really runned down with a few gold fishes struggling for your attention due to quiet business. Was hanging around on the ground floor outside Lee Gardens Plaza and was occasionally approached by part time OKts offering sexy shows, massage etc. I was even approached by a few runned down WLs offering me their services of which I decided to look another way to avoid being cornered!!
The number of Malaysian men with wives strolling and moving about around in Odean, Hatyai carrying street shopping have increase substancially! Men with siamese escorts or GFs have shrunk in numbers ( those holding their hands together ) have shrunked in numbers surprisingly. Wonder are the majority busy in their hotel rooms working hard on their construction sites or what as I was busy observing, sitting in one of the road side stalls around from 7.30pm to around 10.30pm thai time.
To me, other than Traditional thai massage (240 to 300 bahts for 2 hours) which in my opinion is affordable and a good way to pass the long lonely hours fruitly....there is nothing else really productive to do in satisfaction!

Danuk (Ekspat) - I agree with you 100%. Danuk is a place for Malaysians, it has zero charm, nothing to do and is dead unless it is a three day weekend for Malaysians. Danuk really reminds me of a early Tijuana. It needs its own thread on the board, as it is starting to dominate the Hatyai thread.
Hatyai (Male 44) - It is now the slow season as Malaysians and Singaporeans are not taking to much leave. I noticed this time of year prices do go up, but nowhere to the amount mentioned. Noodles with a drink should be only 40 Bht Roti canai 10 Bht. When you try to buy anything in the Lee garden Odean area the prices are going to be sky high to start with, you have to haggle. This is ground zero for clueless tourists. The malls are defiantly priced the same as KL or Singapore. If you want to shop you need to go to Diana's at the very least. Try to even make it to TESCO Lotus for the best prices.
Hotel prices are still at Chinese new year rates! so be warned! but Novotel is notoriously pricey anyways! Lee Garden and Regency new wing are the best value for money, even Regency old wing at 650 Bht is a good deal. It is old but clean and well maintained, all the amenities are 4 star at 2 star prices.
The Pink Lady has not had a renovation since its opening, I spoke to one of the owners sons on my last trip up and he told me they are either going to sell the complex or remodel in 2010. You need to keep in mind the Hatyai is trying to clean up its image. They are trying to attract foreign business and international tourists that are not looking for ladies. Hatyai may not have charm, but the surrounding area does and they want to make Hatyai the base of operations for the tourists. That is the reason for all the construction and new hotels. That maybe why it looks so dirty, all of the construction. So the girls actively keep to their rooms or just go out quickly for food. You should see the number of working girls go up at night when her and her 'date' go out to the bars.
Over all you need to 'get to know' Hatyai to actually enjoy it, except for the girls! and for your next trip I would recommend going for walks out into the city proper, ask your Hotel front desk where good places to eat are and so on.
Please do not give up on Hatyai! it is a great town with a great personality, just like any lady you have to get to know her to really appropriate her!

The writing on the wall for Danok to replace Haadyai as a premier mongering destination started years ago.One could see the incessant building of hotels
and other entertainment places.Unfortunately the plan stalled in the past
years due to the political situation there.
The reason is very simple.It takes 45minutes by car to over 1 hour by bus.Its ok if you stay a night in Danok and move on to Haadyai.Its not ok for others
from Penang who come by bus.Three weeks ago my hm complained about the
short journey from Sadao to Haadyai by bus even though it was waiting by
the time we arrived in Sadao from Danok.We started from Penang.
I support the idea for a separate Danok thread even though I.m in my 60s now and will not benefit much.
As such we now see Haadyai slowly reverting to the industrial town it was
40 years ago.Just go on a normal day if you do not believe it.Go to the
channivate area at 8pm and see how dark and lifeless it is.The tuk tuks and
other vendors will not even accept your ringgit.
Probably the tourist trade is aiming for other tourists to come in with a clean
image promotion of shopping , golf etc.I only go to Haadyai to update my
things, go to the stock market, go for the buffets and cheap fruits.I also use
Haadai for stopover before taking my friends and relatives to Koh Samui or
Krabi/Phuket.
Entertainment in Danok was extremely cheap 2 years ago.Ask other mongers.
Sadly as it is too accessible for Malaysians and prices go up because many
save on hotels and splurge on a day trip.For example it is possible to still have
a 1 hour legit massage for RM10. ST was only 500b and LT 1000 baht.It must
be shocking for old timers to see LT now 2500b or more.The only downside is
that music from the go gos can even thump the heart when you walk in and
the go gos end even before midnight.
The upshot is this happens at a time of cheap flights and I have settled for
Pattaya from Penang.The mongering ambience in Pattaya is by comparison
first class.Food cheap, hotels cheap and girls much cheaper.
When I want cheap nearby holiday I take train from Butterworth to Padang first.It costs only RM5.60.Add RM4 by bus to Haadyai and the total is only
RM9.60 compared to the RM28 by minibus from Penang.
My 20baht worth.
Here's one more vote for a separate Danok thread, though I feel it is already not as exciting and cheap as maybe even a year ago!

farangs the cost of travel is of course peanuts in USD, pounds,etc
Next I would like to add a report that there are many karaoke joints in Padang Besar town in Thailand.The peculiar thing is that the town is popular
with Malaysian muslims.I wonder why....
Rooms are about RM35 a night when we went last year.Fruits can be very
cheap here in season and there is no need to change your ringgit
A real pity about Hatyai, from reading the reports below. I remember it fondly from mongering trips in 1990, 1998 and 1999. Certainly beat the scene in Penang/Butterworth.

I believe Padang Besar & Sg Golok are 2 of the most porous border towns in the Malaysia-Thai area-line-border. Also traditionally there used to be lots of business cross border from the locals...in fact they were not felt like foreign soil by locals...Malay dialect etc all nearly the same. Lots of Malays are locals in these areas hence the Malay crowd.
