You might find it worth your while buying the fireworks report offered on the hookerlooker website. The all day pass for trains/buses/ferries is available on Sundays for $2.50, most of the good value for money brothels are outside the city centre areas.

Chinatown is a good area to stay, there is a good range of accommodation budgets, from hostels to 4 star.

Foer a massage, try Babylon, Checkers or Chicago, all in that area.

With school holidays, cricket and the Sydney Festival on in January, there won't be too many bargains going, especially in the cheaper price range.

Yeah, the exchange rate is the killer, it effects our inbound tourism market considerably.

There are plenty of places to visit in, or close to, the CBD, so getting around shouldn't be a problem. A lot depends on which "CBD" hotel you choose. Plenty of public transport but you really have to know where you are going to be able to pick the correct service(s) to get there. Parking is not cheap, but you might get a discount rate in the hotel car park. On street parking can be hard to find at times.

Taxis are the easiest solution, but they can be in short supply at certain times of the day, and they don't like short trips!!

A big question when visiting Sydney is maybe, is it a short visit or a longer one?

A longer one gives you time to get organised and probably works out at least a bit more cost-efficient. A flying visit (eg a day or two when changing planes) is costly and rather less fun.
