Does anyone have any experience with how long Viagra is effective after expiration date?Ok here is the way it works. Companies making a drug have a "leeway" in the amount in a tablet / capsule. So, for example, a 100 MG tablet (most drugs), the company is allowed 90-110 MG in that tablet (approximately, sometimes it is 95-105 MG). As long as the drug meets those standards, the FDA will allow it to be sold to a pharmacy (yes, companies have to follow the rules, the FDA does not check every batch, but checks at random and if they "cheat" they get fined and have to recall the lot of drug). So, if the potency of the drug drops below a certain level, that is the "expiration date". Companies do extensive testing to find how long a tablet will keep its potency and expiration dates are based on those studies.

Now, that does not mean that when the expiration date comes around that the potency has dropped to below acceptable levels. Companies generally allow about 6 months of time before real expiration. For example if a tablet has an expiration date of May 2022, in face, the acceptable potency in that tablet is really about 6 months longer (Nov 2022). In addition, even after that 6 months, the tablet still has active drug, just not enough to meet the potency requirements. Of course, some of this is how the patient stores the drug. If it is kept in a hot / humid bathroom, potency may drop faster.

So, at least 6 months after the expiration is a good estimate for reliable potency, but the tablet will still have active drug for some time, hard to know how fast it will drop off after that 6 months past expiration.

Sadly in my career, have had to do many of these types of studies, they are boring to do hahahaha.

I want to stress the importance of seeing a urologist with the right specialty. I would not trust my primary care doctor for testosterone replacement.
